I was never an athlete. My dad used to say, “you’re running in slow motion.” I played softball in middle school, but then joined the band and theater in high school. After I figured out how to sing, I started competing in pageants for scholarship money. Then everything changed. Let’s face it- swim suit competition will change you. I started running with the track team and eating healthy. In college, I became a fan of everything outdoors. I started mountain biking and snowboarding, white water rafting, and hiking. Fitness was never a fad for me, it became a lifestyle. Now I’ve completed several half marathons and a couple triathlons. I will compete in my first marathon next year and start as a spin instructor in NYC. So, if you think, hey I’m not athletic or fit, just remember I used to run in slow motion. Hey babes, would you believe I know how you're feeling? . I understand you put your health on the “back burner” because you are so involved in your everyday life you have no time to take on learning what to do in the gym and how to eat to complement your efforts. . 4 years ago, I was working that 9-5 office life 🖥️👩‍💻. Everything was great except I felt like every gym routine was meant for males to lift heavy in the gym and I didn’t want to get bulky. I wanted to be toned with muscle definition and feel my healthiest and sexiest.. I wanted to workout effectively for a female, eat healthier and really know what that meant, and even be able to read a nutrition label for my own benefit. . But I did what I knew best. I ran. I did more cardio and signed up for longer races. And my body still felt slow, weak, and skinny. I didn’t want to be skinny. I wanted to be strong. So I looked for the strong ladies, and entered a physique competition. . Being immersed in strength training was the education I needed to learn how to train for a female body type and count macronutrients so I can fuel my body and my workouts and still live a balanced lifestyle every day of the year. Most importantly, I was able to create a program my busy babes can follow to become their strongest and sexiest self without sacrificing their social life. #fitbabelife . Are you using your backhand slice correctly? 🎾 • The backhand slice is one of the most commonly used strokes at any level, it can be used as a defensive or offensive weapon.👌 • The ideal grip to use it is the continental grip. Plank is one of our favorite moves because it works so many different muscles! Take a minute to give this plank variation a shot! Setup: Legs together in plank stance. Arms extended, hands directly under shoulders. Abs engaged! 1. Relevé series: rock forward and back on toes and back to your heels 8-16x 2. Extend right leg off the floor to an arabesque position and pulse right leg in the air using your seat muscles 8-16x. Hold 3-legged plank for 8 counts. 3. Repeat on the left

I’m lucky enough to also call her a friend. _____ It felt really good to get back to a grittier gym, check the ego at the door and pay in sweat. And hey it’s not a workout with Shannon unless you feel like you are going to hurl. I’ve never seen any life transformation that didn’t begin with the person in question finally getting tired of their own bullshit . I’ve been feeling like I never lose weight 😭. Bulking season = NEW PR’s💪🏻🤩 Hit 135lbs for 4x10, but only made it to 8 reps in this final set...peep the legs shaking💀 Getting stronger physically and mentally is the fun of the game and it’s just getting started😈 . . Tbh, I woke up this morning not mentally prepared to smash legs, but after a quick warm-up to get the blood pumpin, I felt on ANOTHER LEVEL (may or may not have something to do with the 2 cups of coffee and amino energy I downed before🤷🏻‍♀️) . . Don’t neglect deadlifting in your routine, it’s a compound movement that works the entire posterior chain and builds epic strength! If you’re new to weight lifting or if it’s something you aren’t too familiar with, start with light weights to perfect your form👌🏻 . .
