Hi I’m Delicia! I’m the woman behind @nutritiouslydelicia and @naturallydelicia ❤️ I want to use this post as an opportunity to reintroduce myself and explain why I do what I do. I’m a 21 year old nutrition student at the University of Surrey. Nutrition is my passion but more then anything else in the world I would love to study medicine. It’s going to be a lot of hard work and I have a lot of growing and gaining experience I need to do to get there. This is my goal for after I finish my undergraduate degree. I am fascinated by how the body works and doing something where I can help people would make me very happy 🤗 I started @nutritiouslydelicia after a break up where I was having the worst IBS flare up of my life and it left me scared to leave my house and I started to develop phobias as well as a panic disorder. I didn’t get the best advice and had to figure it out on my own. I found that when I ate better, exercised, focus on self care as well as mindful about FODMAPs and triggers I could control my symptoms. The food we eat and how we treat our bodies and minds is so important! I’m still working on my mental health and I’m slowly regaining my life back. Nutritiously Delicia is my creative outlet to share recipes, food photography, evidence based nutrition and wellness and this year I’m also going to be adding in some videos, restaurant guides and more posts about things I love ❤️ I’m also very determined to turn my little hobby into a business this year. I’m working on two ebooks, some potential products and would absolutely love to do a super club or brunch club in the future to meet some of you. Guess who’s in a surplus of calories when doing the ridiculous BMR calculations here, yeah you guessed it. Quality matters over quantity, intensity matters so much, both run but who’s running makes the changes. Eat less eat less, IIFYM my ass. Weight loss & fat-loss are totally different recipes. The sprinter eats more than his body weight needs in calories, and trains less than the long distance runner 🧠. I’m sorry to say but these coaches online posting these side to side facts on food choices of eating shit vs healthy equaling the same or even more calories for the healthy choices ALL look like a mall rat skateboarder, all of them. You would walk past them in a store or beach and never ask them what they do to look like they do. Keeping clients happy by eating whatever they want and seeing the scales drop is a gimmick. I’d rather be 100kgs solid tissue as I am over 60kgs of sickly hanging skin & bones 🙏✌️. I have 100’s of people in this city walking around as proof, 5x more around the world, these ‘coaches/nutritionist’ are posting nutrition labels of green tea juice vs Coca Cola and both being the same calories, don’t be a sheep 💪 Remember NOTHING, NO experiment done in a controlled lab setting has ANYTHING to do with your body and its complexity which changes and adapts every millisecond. A thermogenic measure of expenditure between heat and matter as energy in a thermobeacon in a constant temperature and stagnant environment HAS NOTHING to do with your body digesting food 🤣. That shit is form the 40’s & 50’s still being taught to these level 1000 pts🙈. This is my kind of fast food! On the very rare occasion that I don't need to feed the kids this is my go to quick meal. While 1 chopped head of broccoli is blanching in boiling water for 4 mins, pop the 2 peices of salmon in a pan. While salmon is skin side down (getting crispy) mix together dressing: 1 tbsp olive oil, 1tbsp lemon juice, a little bit of chopped dill and salt and pepper. Drain broccoli, top with salmon and drizzle over dressing. Done. Serves 2. 6 minutes from start to finish, great protein and fibre plus great fats. Spinach and broccoli clear soup .. vitamin and mineral load with antioxidants. Low calorie soup. Below is easy the recipe if you want to give it a try. 🥔🥔🥔MY Thoughts on Whole 30🌯🌯 🌮 Seems to be one of the fad diets starting to gain a lot of traction lately. I don't see why. Whole 30 could be considered to be the stricter version of paleo. You'll be eliminating alcohol, dairy, legumes, grains (all types), soy, sugar, natural sweeteners (honey). Do this for thirty days and then you can add other foods back into your diet . Okay....here is my issue. You're going to restrict yourself so much for a month and then you can go and add those "restricted" foods back in? You can't have grains, even whole grains? Quinoa, brown rice, and whole grain oats are out of the equation but potatoes are in? So, go ahead and have some french fries but don't have quinoa which has triple the amount of nutrients in it . You really think you're gonna lose a lot of weight doing this for 30 days and be able to keep it off? No, you're going to gain it back in a couple months and then do it all over again. Find something you can sustain, not some 30 day fix all! ! Here is a novel idea, try filling up with vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, some meat, and healthy fats. In that order. Limit your sugar, alcohol, dairy, and soy intake but do not completely eliminate it from your diet. Sounds a lot more reasonable and sustainable than cutting all the good stuff out of your diet . I'm sorry if that was a little cut throat, but I want to help you guys realize getting in shape doesn't mean dieting. It means eating healthy foods that you like and then having a little cheat meal here and there to keep you sane. I understand that people go on diets because they don't know where to begin and need some structure. Ich werde so so häufig gefragt, wie ich es schaffe, dass Johannes sich gesund ernährt. Die Antwort ist: ich schaffe es nicht immer. Nicht jeden Tag. Manchmal sogar wochenlang nicht, wie derzeit im Urlaub mit Buffet, an dem es vor zuckrigen Verlockungen nur so wimmelt. Aber das ist ok. Denn Johannes ist ein eigenständiges Wesen, das selbst darüber bestimmen soll, welche Nahrung sein Körper zu sich nimmt. Nur so kann er spüren, was dieses oder jenes Lebensmittel mit ihm macht. Nur so kann er eine bewusste Beziehung zu seinem Körper aufbauen. . Was tue ich also, damit er sich gesund ernährt? . 1. Vorbild sein: David und ich ernähren uns bewusst und ausgewogen. Wir achten darauf, woher unsere Lebensmittel stammen, kochen weitestgehend mit fairen und biologisch hergestellten Produkten und vermeiden Müll, insbesondere das Wegwerfen von Resten. . 2. Aufklären: Johannes versteht mittlerweile sehr genau, weshalb wir zu Hause kein Fleisch essen und Mama auf viele tierische Produkte verzichtet. Die Tötung und Quälerei von sogenannten Nutztieren ist für ihn natürlich mindestens genauso abstrakt, wie für das Gros der Menschen, die nicht als Schlachter oder Tierbauern arbeiten. Aber vor einigen Tagen stand er vor mir und verkündete, dass er nun Vegetarier sein möchte, damit kein Tier wegen ihm sterben muss.💛 ob er das durchzieht, weiß ich nicht und darum geht es erstmal auch nicht. Es zeigt aber, dass er ein klares Bewusstsein dafür hat und das zählt in seinem Alter schon sehr, finde ich. . 3. Einbeziehen: Johannes hilft schon seit er ganz klein war in der Küche mit. Ich habe ihm auch schon früh erlaubt, mit dem Messer zu schneiden oder am Herd zu kochen. Es ist nie etwas brenzliges passiert. Ganz im Gegenteil, er hat dadurch viel mehr gelernt, vorsichtig mit Hitze und scharfen Gegenständen zu sein. Wenn er Mahlzeiten mit zubereitet hat oder mitentschieden hat, was wir kochen (Wochenplan gemeinsam entwickeln, hilft seeehr!), dann wird anschließend auch das Gemüse viel lieber gegessen als sonst. .
