West Glacier is closed due to the fire that is more than 5 square miles. A friend of mine in the area said the smoke is so bad in the area you can taste it in your mouth. 😢 I wanted to post a glimpse of hope. This area of East Glacier was burned by fires and you can see the regrowth and rebirth. My heart breaks for Our national parks right now, especially my beloved Glacier, so I must remind myself that this is a normal cycle of the earth. As the Earth’s temperature continues to rise this will be more and more the norm, but this is natural as well. We have had many cycles through the ages of time as we are told by the ancient stories of our rocks. ♥️

"You belong with me, Scarlett, haven't you figured that out? And the world is where we belong, all of it. We're not home-and-hearth people. We're the adventurers, the buccaneers, the blockade runners. Without challenge, we're only half alive. We can go anywhere, and as long as we're together, it will belong to us. But, my pet, we'll never belong to it. That's for other people, not for us." Author: Alexandra Ripley

DC is a beautiful city. These were taken inside, top of, and around the Old Post Office Clock Tower (national historic landmark where you can get a NPS cancellation!), which is now a part of the Trump International Hotel. Regardless of your political views, they did a fantastic job restoring the tower and building, making it so worth the stop.
One of the grandest parks in the world.

Two years ago we started our #ConnecticutToCalifornia
trip. My mom had recently retired and we were driving from Suffield, CT to Orange County, CA. My goals were modest for this trip - see some national parks #NPS100
and try not to kill each other. Day #1
: Suffield, CT to Pittsburgh, PA with a stop in Spangler, PA.
Sometimes you plan a trip for months. You look forward to it for years. And then it rains most of the time. One could let it ruin the trip. Or they could relish the memories anyway and be so grateful for the time with their momma.
Worth Waiting For - my son waits for his wife on their first climb together in Glacier National Park. This is Reynolds Mountain and we climbed it the morning the Howe Ridge Fire blew up.
