It’s so amazing how much I’ve gained insight today and have truly learned the simplest thing ever. Kindness. I’ve seen it, read about it, and felt it ESPECIALLY today. I’ve been going through a little funk lately as in down and unmotivated. I haven’t been thinking of new recipe ideas, or do things that make me feel excited and alive. Knowing the feeling of what I have been feeling, have really given me understanding that everyone out there is fighting a battle, and maybe one no one really knows about, but God. Be Kind to others and to yourself. I never knew how much I care and love people until today. Kindness goes a LONG way. Whatever it may be - buying someone coffee, saying hi and getting to know someone who seems lonely at the workplace, surprising someone with something. Stay determined♥️ Today I saw a therapist for my eating disorder. Because it's not getting better. At all. And it started off nerve wracking and awful. - But ended on a good note. Full assessment next week. Weekly visits for a while. Dietician info will also be given to me next week. All stepping stones I need to actually fix this. - I realized how many foods I ACTUALLY restricted when I was talking to her. Even before I got this bad. Sandwiches, yogurt, "bigger" fruits (bananas, apples, pears, etc), full sized chocolate bars, oatmeal, hot chocolate, cookies, pies....I thought the list was smaller before this, but no. It's still fairly large. I've been restricting myself for 11 years. I've felt guilty for eating "off limits" food. Ana has had her dirty fucking hands on me since I was 14. - Today, I struggled to eat a salad. A grilled chicken salad at that. I only ate half. And then I bought a couple packs of 90 calorie protein bars, and decided to split one with a friend. I struggled eating 45 calories. My mind gave me shit for eating 45 calories of a protein bar. Why? WHY? What the fuck is 45 calories going to do to me? - Who can live like this?

Being MOTIVATED while traveling has been a bit tough. I have some how managed to not skip a single workout , do work, be social, have cocktails and still have a smile on my face and laugh daily. Traveling for work doesn’t have to be a nightmare it’s like anything it’s all in the mindset. Yeah sure I miss home, I miss my hubby like CRAZY and of course my Rex 😻! Has it been a long trip. Hell yes but also I have had a ton of fun and lots of laughs. Few tips for those who travel for work! 1. Don’t be an asshole. Be fun be you and be social. If you walk around with a mindset of this sucks... it will suck and each day your gone will be that much more of a stress. 2. Do things you do at home. If you read take 5-10 minutes a day to read before or after work, if you workout will get that done... whatever it is find the few moments in the day to still do whatever it is that makes your soul just that much more calm. 3. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Just because you are out of routine, you are away from your family. Do not stress over small stuff. Roll with the flow like any other day and chillllllax! 4. Bring clothes that make you feel like you. Yes we have business dinners and such to attend , but if you can get a night to yourself... kick of the high heels and dress shoes and go for a casual dinner! 5. Smile. Smile each and everyday you wake up because your grateful to be alive and healthy and able to even travel.

Aachoouuuuu! 💨 Yup, it's that time of year again when the fluctuating weather is playing with my immune system. Whenever I start to feel that little tickle in my throat, I immediately start dosing my system with Echinacea. 💨 Echinacea is a plant that naturally boosts your immune system. I've been using it as my go-to cold and flu remedy for about the last 16 years. Hadn’t posted any salad or veggie bouquet pics in a while... so playing catch up 😂☺️. I eat salad the way Steve Jobs wore turtlenecks. I really don’t like having to think about what to eat, ESPECIALLY when I’m hungry 🤯 My salads don’t have quite the uniformity of the turtleneck, but they serve the same function: it’s my go to, functional (nutritious) food I eat that I know makes me feel good. I use whatever veggies I have, I make it waaaaay bigger than I can possibly finish, but then I always try to finish it 😁. It simplifies my life. I know I’ll get some great nutrition; I know I’ll feel good and also satiated when/after I eat it, and it makes the daily task of feeding myself substantially easier. 📌Veggies 📌Beans 📌Nuts/fats. Done. Leaves me pretty pleased with my micronutrient situation for the day. All I gotta do is find some protein (if I’m feeling like animal protein that day) and then everything else I eat after that is whatever I want to fill in any hunger gaps, but I am confident the hardest and most critical part of my nutritional goals for myself: plant pigment, fiber, vitamins/minerals, protein, are met. And somehow I never bore of it. It’s my absolute favorite thing to eat FIRST (not only, but first) when I’m super hungry. If you are struggling to make vegetables a bigger part of what you eat everyday, consider treating them like a uniform and just make it a no-brainer. Save your decision making and discipline energy reserves for other matters and put veggies on auto-pilot. Super easy dinner last night using leftovers! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What's on my plate 👇🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Steak with chimichurri sauce: The steak is seasoned with Himalayan salt and freshly cracked black pepper and then grilled. The chimichurri sauce is amazing and is so easy to make. I made it for the first time this week and had to make it again last night. The recipe is from @gimmesomeoven and I can't have red wine vinegar, so I didn't add it and it was still amazing. Everything goes in the food processor and it takes like 10 min to make. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Arugula Salad: I cannot stop eating this! It just organic arugula, @traderjoes parmesan cheese freshly shaved, freshly cracked Salt and Pepper and olive oil. So easy! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Homemade garlic bread: @traderjoes sourdough bread, 1 stick of melted butter, 4 Tsp minced garlic, 1/2 Tsp olive oil, 1 Tsp garlic powder (I use Simply Organic), 2 Tsp freshly chopped parsley, and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated. In a bowl whisk all of the ingredients together until they are combined. I cut the slices of sourdough bread in half and used a basting brush to put the mixture on the bread. I make sure the entire piece is covered in it. Cook for about 7-10 minutes on 350.

I made it out for another walk this morning! I feel like I'm getting it in while it's nice out. Soon it will be rainy and cold for months. But for now, I'm enjoying getting outside! today was not the best of days. last night, i got a fever late at night 🤒 it kept me up most of the night and it lasted all day today. i pretty much spent my entire day on the couch, wearing tons of layers because i was freezing cold ☃️ it got me thinking and i wanted to share with you: 1️⃣ i was supposed to be fasting today for the jewish holiday of yom kippur. for some reason, even though i was very sick, i felt so bad for not fasting on such an important and holy day. yom kippur is considered the holiest day of the year for the jewish people. i decided to read an article on @chabadorg which made me feel a little better. i wanted to share a quote from the article “the healthy person fulfills a mitzvah (good deed) by fasting; the ill person does a mitzvah by eating.” this quote made me think of all the different #faddiets i come across on social media that are all promoting weight loss. in my opinion, food should be considered fuel. every time we eat should be an opportunity to nourish our bodies. instead of focusing on #calories and #macros , let’s focus on how the foods that we eat can give us energy, make us strong 💪🏻 and help us accomplish our goals. 2️⃣ being this sick makes me so grateful to be healthy majority of the time. to have the energy to move my body, to feed it properly and to be able to live my incredibly fortunate life. tonight, i am so thankful for my healthy body what are you thankful for? xx #calynbrooke

No tricks here, just treats. _ Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread a la @twopeasandpod (of course). 🎃 _ With 99.9% of the ingredients already in my pantry, this bread was the perfect surprise treat for a friend (which was necessary considering the recipe makes 3 loaves). 🇨🇴Vegan Colombian arepas: * 2 cups warm water * 1 ½ tsp salt * 1 tbsp vegan butter, melted * 2 cups corn masapan flour Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Thanks to everyone who has send a little sweet note or message to say "hey, how you doing!?" lately! It's DEEPLY appreciated. The update/outcome is what I had assumed... Low acting thyroid! And I'm really excited about it, believe it or not! You know why? Because I feel empowered. It's nothing too serious, can be managed with lowered stress, more sleep, and a few additional supplements and lifestyle edits. Easier said than done, sure, but I'm so ready for it, I'm TOTALLY PUMPED about it. It's been amazing to start practicing this new self-care routine. I've given myself permission to sleep, I've cut down my workload nearly in half, which was VERY painful, but beneficial both for the business ( @susanshannoncm ) and for me! We're feeling more targeted than EVER moving forward, because this whole thing has forced us to stop, take a hot second off, and think about where we're at and where we're going, and I'm SO grateful! . We've got some big announcements coming up I CANNOT WAIT to share with you, regarding both businesses, Content Cohort (find what we're doing at @susanshannoncm !) and Restoring the Day, and I have a feeling it's all going to be the best thing ever. i like my smoothies tastin' like a milkshake 🤤🍦 i can't really give you a recipe for this cause when i make smoothies i totally eye everything 😅 but i can give you the ingredients! i always taste test from my blender before pouring to check if it needs more of something. 🍌 pb banana milkshake smoothie: bananas, ice, almond milk, peanut butter, protein powder (i use @gardenoflife it's my fave with the cleanest ingredients), maca powder, dates, top with cacao nibs and coconut flakes :)
