Do you all remember (kids born and brought up in #india
) how as a child, we were forced to drink a glass of haldi doodh (#turmeric
added to milk) every time we fell sick or after we hurt ourselves. We used to cycle around a lot back in childhood, falling hard on concrete sometimes knocking out something or the other. We used to come back home with bleeding knees and all mom cared about was forcing us to drink turmeric milk. Now we realize why!
With time I learned how good this simple home remedy is to beat the everyday tiredness and anxiety. Additionally, it’s always good to take preventive measure to fight the effect of changing weather, right?
So today I made Turmeric Coconut Smoothie bowl for myself. Turmeric contains curcumin which a strong anti-inflammatory and promotes healthy cell function. Black pepper has properties that help you absorb the turmeric better and the coconut oil or milk or flour has antioxidants and can help against certain viruses.
Recipe: - Frozen fruits (read one banana, apple and pineapple all frozen)
- Pinch of black pepper @urbanplatter.in
- 1 tsp each cinnamon powder, flaxseed powder, hemp protein powder
- Vanilla bean paste @urbanplatter.in
- 1 tsp organic turmeric powder
- Splash of any plant-based milk we used almond milk from @137degreesclub
- 1 big spoon of coconut flour @zevic_stevia
Blend them all together and garnish it with your favorite toppings. We used pumpkin seeds, coconut chips, homemade muesli, dried berries and chis seeds.
