The artist palette at Wai-o-Tapu
aka one of my fav days of the year because my real life 11 year old fantasy came true. also because it gives me an excuse to post photos and dream about this beautiful place. also my last wedding today in a 10 week stretch of insanity before a couple weeks off before my final wedding of the season! let’s do this 💪🏼😴
Let’s go on an adventure... Today we headed north. It’s the furthest out we’ve headed so far. It’s also the longest we’ve ever been outside of the UK... Scary... It’s been a beautiful day of two halves. My glasses broke and would you believe my eye prescription paperwork was one of the only documents we didn’t pack on the plane with us? However, the local Specsavers staff were super friendly and fixed me up with a free set of monthly contacts.
We had a video call with some treasured friends which was lovely but also homesick inducing.
The kids moaned about the long car journey to Lake Wairarapa (which included a long, incorrect detour down a farmer’s driveway 🤣) but then loved the exploring once we’d got there.
We’re loving our amazing adventure but it sure is challenging - keep adventuring everyone, you never know what excitement may be around the next corner!
We get it, sometimes the only way to get away is to bring that darn work laptop with you. We hope that the view from the loft window makes replying to those emails easier.....

Make the most of every situation that you’re in 🤙🏼 | Northland, Whangarei
One of my favorite places in NZ so far!
Everything was so still. The water was like glass, the clouds weren't moving, and the bird paused right there to let me take this photo.
It's hard to grasp how beautiful NZ really is until you're here in person 📸
Day 540 - New Let’s-see-land
Ah ! New Zealand, A dream for many to go, a curiosity for us. What is this mystical soft power that New Zealand pulls out to be such a touristic destination ?! An irresistible feminist attraction (NZ was the first country to give women the vote in 1893) ? Probably not.
Its natural wonders certainly. Also its remoteness, being on the other side of the 🌎, maybe upside down who knows ? It may sound cliché, but we both had this image in mind of New Zealand: a herd of sheeps grazing freely on large pastures leading downhill to an agitated ocean, with beautiful snowy mountains in the background of course. Let’s see if reality meets expectations.
