Student activists Emma González (@emmawise18

Their presence at the frontlines of the March For Our Lives has been all over social media, as well as it should be. Since Columbine, 215,000 students have experienced gun violence at school. This doesn’t account for all other domestic shootings that have happened in our country.
What irks me the most is how grown adults treat our student activists—mocking them, trying to discredit their voices. What kind of nation are we building where we try to disinherit the upcoming generations of their rights to speech and safety?
Our young adults today are just following in the footsteps of those who protested war in the 60s and 70s, but the war has come to their classrooms.
What do we fight for, if not to protect our children?
