I’ve wanted glasses all my life! (*Disclaimer— I don’t want to be blind or dependent on glasses… I’ve just always wanted them as a fashion statement!) At one point I remember faking like I couldn’t see/read well when my best friend had just received her glasses. I couldn’t quite commit to the lie through my optometrist appointment. 20/20.
Fast forward a decade & a half, and I still desire the same effect.
Introducing… the “blue-light filter” glasses. These lil guys somewhat filter the blue light when I’m working on my computer. It may be placebo, it may be the strong desire to have glasses, or maybe a combination of both… but I love these glasses, especially while I’m working on my screen a lot into the evenings.
Did you know blue light from your screens actually suppresses the melatonin (the sleep-inducing hormone) that is supposed to be releasing slowly as the sun goes down? It actually is important to dim the lights in your house & on your screens so that you get sleepy when you’re supposed to! (We use “nighttime mode” on my iPhone AND “flux” app on our macs to make it a bit more yellow-y.)
It actually makes sense when you think about our ancestors’ lifestyles. They had blue skies in the morning to wake them up & keep them awake, but had the warm orangey yellow reddish firey flames burning at nighttime. So dim your lights & screens… and wear your blue-light blocking glasses 🤓 (You don’t actually need to do the last one… yall know I’m just crazy.)
