🆙️ Clothes for a Cause 🆙️
Many of the clothing superstores of today use cheap labour in other countries to keep their costs down, but the problem arises when they use children and others who work for a wage that simply isn’t sustainable. Rather than taking advantage of the less fortunate, at Divine Ray, we offer clothing that is handcrafted by expert crafters in rural India. When you buy our clothing, you’ll put honest, hardworking people to work. In addition, because our products are created by hand, the environmental footprint is minimal. If you’ve gone green in every other area of your life, you should think about being environmentally responsible in your clothing choices, too.

As you start to walk out the way appears. (Rumi).
A few weeks ago many of the people in my little boxes didn't even know me. It's amazing how life happens, you plan for one thing and are overtaken by something else. As a POC it's easy to be ignored and excluded from a lot of what goes on around you. I will admit that the talking does take its toll. Trying to explain how it feels leaves a mental mark on your very being. I lack confidence, I lack self esteem, I constantly strive to do better, aim higher, fight harder. I set myself targets because I feel like I have to prove myself and when I feel I failed I want to hide away until I am ready to try again. I felt depressed when I was telling you all what my struggles with Racism were like, I felt as though a cloud had settled on my heart and it was never going to lift. It's only by talking to other BIPOC friends that I came to understand that I am not alone with these emotions. Why do I have to prove myself? Do I not know my own worth? Do I not see what beautiful things these hands create? Hands covered in dye, worn from raising my siblings, then my children, constantly hidden from sight in order not to offend. I couldn't see it but now I do, I am enough. It takes so much courage to stand up to white supremacy, the video over the weekend from Potion yarns left me cold. I still feel like there is a lot of work to do and we have to educate these women who think it's okay to label us and say we spoilt their knitting pleasure. I don't like the analogy of the Wolf in sheep's clothing, it's sickening. I don't like the preaching tone of the video where husband and wife give a joint sermon on everything they say is wrong with POCs, there are a few people who are following me who actually supported this woman and that's hypocritical at best, because they told me they saw me and heard me, obviously not very well because the moment a white woman of privilege spoke they were also praising her and telling her that she was amazing and not to worry because she couldn't make everyone happy and they needed her yarns in their lives. Please. 😈
I unfollowed the two faced devils because I have the courage to do so now.
Ummm, wait what? 😳⠀
Moisturizers, body lotions, eye cream...we all have our beauty products that we love, but the ingredients may not love you. ⠀
I know it is so exciting to put our favorite lotion on and feel it absorbing and giving our skin the hydration it needs, but hold up! What else is it absorbing? 😱⠀
26 seconds! Look at ingredients my friends. Know what you are putting on your body. You are freaking important! Yes you are! The world needs you now, so take care of you. The U.S. is dangerously far behind and sadly there is a serious lack of regulation in the beauty industry, so YOU gotta look out for YOU. ⠀
This is my work, my job, my passion ⠀
LET’S DO BETTER TOGETHER 💕
