Incorporate these habits and live longer If you lack motivation, today’s health tip is for you. I was excited to find an article with study reference to the journalCirculation which suggests a simple formula for staying healthy and living longer. Researchers from the Harvard Chan School of Public Health looked at 34 years’ worth of data from 78,865 women and 27 years’ worth of data from 44,354 men from 2 significant studies (the Nurses’ Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study) to understand the link between life expectancy and lifestyle. They looked at the following 5 factors: 1) Not smoking 2) Low body mass index (18.5-24.9) 3) At least 30 minutes or more per day of moderate to vigorous physical activity, 4) Moderate alcohol intake (for example, up to about one 150ml glass of wine per day for women, or 240ml to 480ml glasses for men) 5) A healthy diet. They found those who followed these healthy habits could add between 14 (women) to 12 years (men) on to their life expectancy. In addition to this, the study authors found those with healthy habits were 82% less likely to die from heart disease and 65% less likely to die from cancer. I find this study encouraging because these 5 healthy habits are fairly simple. Lunch today is more turkey burgers and some spinach dip I made with veggies. I’ve been doing really good with my food and working out. Had blood work done a few days ago and my health is great. It’s been a year and a half now that I’ve been health focused and I’ve managed to keep 40lbs off. A few months ago a new move had my weight going up and my want to workout down. I’m back in a routine though for the past month and the extra 10lbs I had gained... is going away!! From Christmas 2016 to September 2018 it has been a hell of a #weightlossjourney ! I love seeing the before photos to see how far I have come. I have always fluctuated with weight since puberty, but it wasn’t till my 30’s that I went well over the 200 marker. Was stuck in a purgatory of slowly gaining weight and couldn’t get it down. I gave up for awhile. Sunk into a deep depression of sugary drinks and lots of carbs. It took losing intimacy in my marriage to turn this fat depression into a weight loss machine. Finally went to the doctor which I have always had a bad experience with them not listening to my health issues, but my doctor for the past two years has been amazing and super supportive. Did the blood work and turned out I was prediabetic. Now that scared the hell out of me because I didn’t want to be full blown diabetic and deal with needles (fucking terrified of needles and lots of blood 🤮). Huge wimp when it comes to blood work. Anywho, I listened to the doctor and started cutting out sugar and carbs. That dropped me 10 lbs immediately, but after that was a huge struggle to lose more. Then I did slimfast shakes for dinner replacement and a few more lbs came off. Now, I’m doing intermittent fasting which has dramatically dropped me to 203 lbs. I have not gained any weight been at a plateau for a few weeks. I use to workout 6 days a week, but whenever I make great strides and have a beautiful routine life gets in the way. First week of September I slayed and met my 6 day goal. Second week I got sick and that plummeted my motivation. Luckily I have awesome friends like @brittanymariedover that helped kick my butt into gear and worked out last night. If you are not happy take action now! Does this sound like you with diet and exercise? It's ok I'll get back on track on monday.. I will start when I get back off holiday in a few weeks... Or when the kids go back to school. Who are you kidding? These are some of the things that you think are ok but there actually not! Your just digging a bigger hole. When is the best time to start your diet? When it's right for you? Stop looking for the perfect time to start your goal because you know what there never is! Losing weight is hard work its never easy and takes time and commitment. It's important you take responsibility for your own actions and stop being in denial that it's not the right time yet. If want something bad enough you'll go and get it and take action straight away. There are times when you may fall back and it's important to never give up and jump back on it! Ask for help if you need it so your going in the right direction but this doesnt mean you can drop off and the work is done for you! Only you can make that change happen! When you find you have achieved where you want to be there's no better feeling! The confidence, more energy, happier and healthier than before! Bit of rant today, but sometimes people need to give there head a bit of a wobble 😂
I love finding healthy alternatives to things I already love so I can have it without the guilt. . . Stevia is better than other sweetners but the sugar free options most places have is full of chemicals. I love odering coffee with little crean and adding flavored stevia to it. 😍 . . I don't feel like I'm missing out and I'm not messing up my goals. ❤

B A C K & B I S 💪🏻 Y'all today was a trainwreck. Lol I had every excuse in the book not to hit up the gym, number one being that I wouldn't have enough time to get back home an d meal prep for a 10 shift at the airport. But I went anyway, compromised by not doing cardio at the end. Killed my warm-up, did .91 miles in 14 min, which means, i could have probably done a 15 min mile... say what?! Seriously what's EFF is going on? I did 3.36 on the treadmill for a total time of 30:30 and by my Garmin it was 3.12 at a 9:40 pace and a 30:09 for a new 5k record. Am I really becoming a runner that has a chance of a sub 30 5k race? Or a sub 10 min mile? Just 2 weeks ago I was feeling burned out with my double training plan. I am on my 2nd 12 week plan. But now I'm seeing that it was probably something I needed. I'm still a slow runner by most that run but given that just 8.5 months ago I wasn't able to run 15 feet and a year ago I was in so much pain that shit balls y'all! We veroorloven ons te veel en te snel om onze beloftes te verbreken. Ofwel springen we veel te losbollig om met beloftes uitdelen. En dat omvat niet enkel wat we anderen beloven. Integendeel. We beloven ook heel wat aan onszelf: ik ga gezonder leven, beter eten, genoeg slapen, sporten enz. We kunnen enkel zelf onze verantwoordelijk opnemen om beter voor onszelf te zorgen.
‼️ Update ‼️ Yes it's 1am, but I feel like doing an update as it has been far too long. I joined the gym a couple of weeks ago now and I'm still loving it. It feels so good to be in such a good space, it doesn't make me anxious at all and the staff are so lovely. I try to go three times a week, I've had one PT session that went really well, my coach found out this morning (Thursday) that I have one more free session, so that was booked for Monday. Today I did up some of my weights, so I've dropped that in my images above. Still on the gym, they have a big wall of mirrors near the entry/exit and as I was walking to the reception I caught my reflection in the mirror, I can't believe how small my legs are! It sounds funny, but I had to do a double take lol unfortunately the photo I took, as my phone was in a locker, was in the change room mirror so it's nowhere near as long. Food wise I'm still struggling a bit, I guess you could say. I tried some 'new' foods, solids wise, but they did not go down well. I had some chicken last Friday night, on the Sunday and another time and all 3 times it came back up, it was all meat off the bone, which was moist and cooked well, but tummy said no. I've decided to stick to soft/puree for a little while longer, as over it as I am, and hope I can tolerate a bit more soon. Tried some avocado Wednesday for the first time, oh it was so good. Made myself up a little snack of mashed avo, sour cream, grated cheese, mixed herbs and dill on some dry biscuits 🤤 I also had some scrambled eggs last Saturday night and they seemed to sit ok. Almost everything I eat though seems to give me intergestion, so I'm not sure if it's from eating too fast or I've developed an intolerance to something. I'm still losing weight which is good, I'm happy it is coming off slowly. Nearly two months post op and I'm down 25kgs, 17.9kgs since surgery, I'm feeling a lot better and I'm starting to feel more confident. Next thing is to clean out my wardrobe and actually find some stuff that fitI'm down to a size 20 in pants, top is down to about a 24. *continued in the comments*
