Bird In Row - We Already Lost The World
French hardcore band Birds In Row first caught my eye with You, me, and the Violence. The incredibly creative guitar playing and drum beats reminded me why I love hardcore so much. They prefer to be seen as a band, and not individuals so they go by B D and T. The screams are incredibly cathartic, especially on cuts like We Count So We Don’t Have To Listen, and Remember Us Better Than We Are, when he’s screaming “precious reflection, I wish I was someone else”. That song comes to a shimmer and fades out with a twinkly guitar, but the record picks back up immediately with I Don’t Dance and it’s right back to the visceral screams to wake you up. 15-38 features some clean singing, and a screaming chorus which shows off well the bands song writing ability. Triste Sire gets in and out at just 2 minutes, and is easily the most hardcore song on the album. Fossils is just a beautiful closer as well I love how the entire project ends on the swell leaving the listener to contemplate the nothingness that follows. The album is incredibly tight with just 9 tracks, and most of them bring something unique and new to the album. I say most of them because they can start to feel samey at some points but for the most part they do a good job of keeping it fresh. Really a beautiful album though, comes highly recommended.
