“I think I can, I think I can.” said the little engine that thought it could. There was a story book I read when I was a child. It was about a small train engine that had a huge hill to go up and everyone told him he couldn’t go up but he kept saying, “ I think I can” and persisted up the hill. Guess what?? He made it!!⠀
This is obviously a fictional story, but the lesson it teaches is so valuable in life. When we have an outlook that believes that we can do it, great things can be accomplished. ⠀
As moms it can get overwhelming with all that we need to do. Because of the many demands that are on us, I’ve seen many that get beaten down by everyday tasks or abandon the dreams & desires in their hearts because they think they can’t do it now that the demands are so great.⠀
I’ve been asked many times how I do all the things I do, the everyday tasks and the dreams and desires I have. After much thinking, I realized it’s because I believe that I can do it and so I haven’t let kids or hard circumstances stop me. ⠀
I’ve traveled back and forth to the States on my own while pregnant with 2 kids and then on my own with 3 young kids as well. I’ve taken young babies on rustic beach holidays and youth camps. I’ve taken care of my kids while carrying many leadership responsibilities in my church as I partner with my husband in pastoring. I do all the cleaning, cooking, running my house and helping my kids with homework. I’ve moved countless times with multiple kids. I’ve brought my kids up through unfavorable & sometimes uncertain circumstances, not by choice, but they’re ok because of confidence I’ve put in them.⠀
I'm not trying to toot my own horn, and I feel very awkward saying these things. I say this because I’m not anyone special, I’m just a normal mom with a perspective that says, “I can do this!” It’s a matter of outlook & optimism. Don’t think too hard, don’t freak out, it’s a decision to be optimistic and to act accordingly. Do the things in your heart! Believe you can do it! You can do everything required of you as a mom in whatever situation you find yourself in. Your kids will learn so much from your optimism & “I can do this attitude”. YOU CAN DO THIS
JACOB VS. ESAU 4
BOOK OF JUBILEES
The War between Jacob and Esau at the Tower of Hebron. The Death of Esau and Overthrow of his Forces (xxxviii. 1-4). XXXVIII. And after that Judah spake to Jacob, his father, and said unto him: "Bend thy bow, father, and send forth thy arrows and cast down the adversary and slay the enemy; and mayest thou have the power, for we shall not slay thy brother, for he is such as thou, and he is like thee: let us give him (this) honour." 2. Then Jacob bent his bow and sent forth the arrow and struck Esau, his brother, (on his right breast) and slew him. [note: According to later Jewish tradition Esau was killed by Chushim, son of Dan, at the cave of Machpelah when Jacob's corpse had arrived there for burial; cf. Pirḳe de R. Eliezer xxxix. (towards end).] 3. And again he sent forth an arrow and struck ’Adôrân the Aramaean, [note: Cf. xxxvii. 9.] on the left breast, and drove him backward and slew him. 4. And then went forth the sons of Jacob, they and their servants, dividing themselves into companies on the four sides of the tower. 5. And [paragraph continues] Judah went forth in front, and Naphtali and Gad with him and fifty servants with him on the south side of the tower, and they slew all they found before them, and not one individual of them escaped. 6. And Levi and Dan and Asher went forth on the east side of the tower, and fifty (men) with them, and they slew the fighting men of Moab and Ammon. 7. And Reuben and Issachar and Zebulon went forth on the north side of the tower, and fifty men with them, and they slew the fighting men of the Philistines. 8. And Simeon and Benjamin and Enoch, Reuben's son, went forth on the west side of the tower, and fifty (men) with them, and they slew of Edom and of the Horites four hundred men, stout warriors; and six hundred fled, and four of the sons of Esau fled with them, and left their father lying slain, as he had fallen on the hill which is in ’Adûrâm. [note: A city in Idumaea (Edom) identical with the "Adora" mentioned in 1 Macc. xiii. 20. It was captured by John Hyrcanus and forced to accept circumcision. in Test. Judah ix. 3 the name appears as Anoniram.]
