Hey gorgeous, it’s really important that you get some better quality sleep... Say na-ah to caffeine after lunchtime, minimise liquids an hour or so before bed (those midnight loo visits are interrupting your REM sleep big time), Don't eat a massive meal less than a few hours before bed and try to sleep at least 7-9 hours a night.

I never feel fully awake until I exercise. Whether it’s a walk, a run, or something else...it just seems like a part of brain remains shut off/shut down/asleep/totally, utterly non-functional until I get some endorphins flowing through my body. Does anyone else feel like this?!?💕🧘♀️💙

This week I've been putting energy into the idea the consistent small acts create big ripples. Each morning my alarm has been set for 6:00AM and I've (tried) to be in a non-zombie state for one hour of painting before work. It's been a magic hour!
It begs the question; What are you willing to wake up early for?

The first thing I do after I wake up if my husband didn't do it already, is take our dog out. When we finish walking around our apartment complex, he runs upstairs to our home. He knows it's time for breakfast. I prepare his meal while cooking some bacon and eggs for my husband and me. After we all finish eating, my husband goes into the shower, I wash dishes, and my dog chews his gum. When I finish cleaning, it's time for my husband to leave. We say goodbye with kisses and our dog begs for him not to leave. After the door closes, I sit down on the couch with a cup of tea and a book. Our dog lingers around me looking for some belly rubs then walks to the fireplace (his favorite spot) and lays down. I read and he sleeps until the sun replaces our fluorescent light.
This is my early morning ritual.

This week, I unpacked books I bought years ago.
My sketchpads and pencils.
My books of poetry I wrote.
I would use babysitting money I made at 16 from watching triplets for $9/hr to purchase these.
And I remembered.
I remembered being 9 and telling my mom I wanted to be @thekelliemartin.
I remembered when I was 13 and I wrote to a local author and told him I really liked his book, and gosh, he should probably make it a movie and cast me because I was the PERFECT age for the character.
I remembered stalking down the home address of the only person I knew who had “made it” out of Denver (I forgot about Amy Adams and Jessica Biel, sorry 🤦🏻♀️) and WRITING HER A LETTER AT HER PARENTS.
She wrote back and 5 years later I hired her teacher, with the money I made nannying from 7am-7pm daily. I drove 3 hrs every week to see her.
I remembered my first web series at 19 and feeling like I truly was a character for the first time (a web series out of Monument, CO is a big thing, y’all)... and that it happened because I put myself (my very introverted self) out there.
I’ve decided that anytime I stop being ballsy, I just need to remember 13 year old me - a kid from a town of 1400 people who spent every week checking out plays from the adult section of the library (until the librarian told my mother ✌🏻) and hand writing out monologues while pausing VHS tapes (YouTube has been a nice invention).
Because that girl didn’t take no for an answer.

**measurements do not have to be exact 💛
Homemade Hemp Seed “Nut Mylk” (because who wants processed foods in their fave smoothie?!🤷🏻♀️):
1/4 c hemp seeds
Pinch salt, cinnamon, vanilla
✨blend into a magical mylk!
1 packet of açaí
1/4 c frozen wild bluberries (per @medicalmedium
1/4 c frozen raspberries
1tsp food based vitamin C
A few dashes of collagen
1-2 cups coconut water 🥥
1/4 mixed fresh berries
Chia seeds 🌈
✨Blend a lot and try to make the consistency more like a drink rather than a smoothie. You can do this by adding water or more coconut water. The key is not to make the taste too diluted. So, I play with a mix of water/coconut until I get it where I like! ✨
Poor into several mason jars because it makes a lot! You can play with adding water/coconut water at this point, too!
Top with fresh lemon juice...like 1/4-1/2 lemon, for added flavor.
Top with your favorite bee pollen. Local is best for added immune benefits.

It's because their energy is in their body. Located down in their base. They dance, they move, they squat to cook, to do the chores, to go to the toilet.
And most importantly of all, they connect. They share stories, sing, dance.
We are more free than ever in our western world, yet so much more disconnected from our bodies.
We do too much. We think too much - and all of that energy goes up into our heads. Not into the body where it belongs.
Otherwise we will just become moving heads, with bodies we are numb too.
