I grew up enamored with professional wrestling as kid. I Still am fascinated by it. Being a boy growing up in the 90s, there was no better time to grow up a wrestling fan. All of the most innovative storylines, drama and characters either came out in the 90s or said characters continued their careers with lots left to offer from prior decades. The “attitude era” as it was dubbed was this amazing thing you’ll never see again. It’s something that not only gets talked about to this day, but something people still clamor for and the innovation still resonates even in today’s wrestling world. 2 wrestling companies fighting for ratings supremacy. Ratings were all that mattered. The “Monday night wars” made Monday’s fun. There was no dvr. You had to switch back and forth to two different companies to see who was gonna do what next or who was going to jump from one company to the next when their contracts ran out and nobody had smart phones and a lot of us didn’t have the internet yet. So waiting to get on the bus on Tuesday morning to get into school to talk to your friends about what transpired the night before which by the way happened passed your bedtime was a big deal. The best of the best came in and out of that decade and I’m proud to say I got to see all of it as the 8,9,10 year old fat kid that I was jumping from my dresser onto my bed doing frogsplashes like I was Eddie Guerrero. The only negative about 90s wrestling is sadly seeing how many of those wrestlers are no longer with us. 21 years ago today on #RAW
unofficially formed in the middle of a match between #HBK
had not yet been in a storyline with Shawn Michaels, so it was speculated that he came down as part of an intense summer feud he had with Mankind. Minutes later, #RickRude
revealed himself and with Hunter Hearst Helmsley helped HBK win the match. Before the three men could do more damage to Mankind, #TheUndertaker
, who was billed to fight Shawn at the upcoming #IYH
Ground Zero, came down to knock Shawn's head in for the chair shot heard around the world at #SummerSlam
two weeks earlier. What happened next? Well you should get the #WWEnetwork
for 9.99 a month to find out.
Hey Yo! Happy Saturday. 💯🤘🏽
To Dennis and Jacob on Twitter; This was one of my favorite classic ECW wrestling match of all time when ECW legend and arguably the best wrestler in the world at that time period the New F'N Show Jerry Lynn defeated The Hardcore Icon Justin Credible for the ECW World Heavyweight Champion at ECW Anarchy Rulz 2000, one of ECW's last PPV's, months before the hardcore wrestling promotion went out of business and eventually sold to the WWE. The passionate ECW crowd were really behind Jerry Lynn in winning the Big One and it's only fitting Jerry Lynn, one of the faces and top star of ECW beat Justin Credible coz the latter was one of the biggest heels in ECW history, that when Jerry Lynn won the ECW World Heavyweight belt, the crowd absolutely wents nuts and gave Jerry Lynn one of the loudest and biggest, massive pops in ECW history, that sadly, we don't hear this kind of loud pops anymore in a WWE ring these days. How wrestling now went from the sublime to the ridiculous. Jerry Lynn was one of RVD's greatest rival of all time. Anyway, this fateful event happened during the height of the WWE's Attitude Era, when the Monday Night Wars between WWE and WCW was coming to an end, that months later WCW went out business as well, approximately the same time ECW closed its doors forever. Definitely one of the best legendary classic wrestling match ever that will be forever be remembered & cherish for generations and generations. #ecw #jerrylynn #rvd #robvandam #wcw #mondaynightwars #attitudeera #wwe #wwenxt #nxt #raw #sdlive #roh #summerslam #wrestlemania #paulheyman #tnawrestling #impactwrestling #impactonpop #tna #nwatna #prowrestling #wrestling #undertaker #taker #tombstonepiledriver #njpw #kennyomega #cmpunk #danielbryan #wrestlemania

83 Weeks, with Eric Bischoff, is my 4th favourite professional wrestling podcast. The show chronicles the #MondayNightWars
’s perspective. In case you don’t know, the Monday night wars, were the series of battles for ratings between WCW’s Monday Night Nitro show and #WWE
’s Monday Night Raw show on mainstream TV in the mid to late 90’s. While #WWF
had the larger, and more established fan base, WCW, backed by Turner Broadcasting’s seemingly limitless finances, went on an 83 week run between 1996 and April 1998, winning the Nielsen ratings poll. The mastermind behind the creative, and recruitment (mostly of aged WWF stars looking to improve their contracts), was Eric Bischoff. And his #podcast

21 years ago yesterday one of my favourite matches took place at Summerslam 1997. It was Hart and Soul when the “Phenom” The Undertaker defended his WWE Championship against the “Excellence of Execution” Bret “The Hitman” Hart with the “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels as the special referee. There were so many layers to the story with Bret Hart having problems not only with Undertaker but with Shawn Michaels, the WWE and the United States as a whole. Also, heading into the match there were a handful of stipulations such as Bret never wrestling in the United States again if he loses and Shawn Michaels future with the WWE was at stake if he intentionally cost Bret the match. If you’ve never seen this match go check it out. 🔥💜
