It’s quite easy to lose this perspective of motherhood during the mundane tasks of day to day life. So momma, don’t lose heart of doing good! Rest in the truth that God sees your faithful work and He’s gently leading you through ever circumstance. He sees that you’re laying a foundation for your kids that will have a lasting impact in their lives!
Anytime you are gonna grow, its uncomfortable. Growth is uncomfortable because you've never been where you are going before. Growth means changing beliefs and habits you've grown used to.
Remember growth is good and means you are trying. Give yourself some grace and breathe through it.

I hate to admit but I have been slacking big time on SCRIBING. I’ve got a million and one things rolling around in my head and just have not been putting pen to paper. .
Writing down goals and CREATING and action plan is the only way to move forward toward achieving your goals. We can have the best intentions and be super inspired but if we ourselves don’t sit down and scribe a plan AND take action, those goals and intentions are as good as gone.

I’ve been in my head the last few days, like what I’m doing isn’t enough. Where I’m at physically and mentally isn’t enough.
When I see other people achieve the same goals, they’re MORE than enough but when it comes to me there’s more I should be doing, more I should be striving for, and more I expect from myself.
No one else is setting these unrealistic expectations for me but me. Some days I’m my biggest advocate but others I’m my own worst enemy.
In a world where there’s already so much pressure and false expectations, why are we so quick to turn on ourselves and add even more?
That changes for me, TODAY.
Today, I’m choosing to see how far I’ve come, how hard I’m trying, and how strong I am. I’m choosing to love me for me, flaws and all. I’m choosing to build myself up rather than tear myself down and to celebrate the little victories while I watch them turn into the big ones!
Be an advocate for yourself, be gentle with yourself, and realize that YOU ARE ENOUGH.

Egg-free continues 🚫🥚. Although I don’t see any differences so far, we will see what happens when I add them back in. Tomorrow will officially be 3 weeks. It hasn’t been so bad. Actually, squash has been the hardest! Lol! If you recall my results, there were 4 levels of severity. I had nothing show up in the most severe. Only safflower in the second then 15 Foods in the 3rd level, which is pretty low. My main reason was to see if it would clear the skin on my chin. Well...it hasn’t 🤷🏻♀️. So, although those foods may be doing SOMETHING, it’s not the cause of the chin.
My plan is to give it through the end of next weekend, then add some eggs back in. One thing i did learn from this, is I’ve opened myself up for other breakfast options. So maybe I cut down on the egg intake and don’t have them daily. We will see!
Next step on my chin?? Not sure yet. Seeing my allergist today who does some natural techniques that have worked amazing for me before. Then maybe well...dermatologist. And no...I haven’t seen a dermatologist yet. That’s the stubborn side of me 😂

Every morning I meet with my personal trainer at my house (oh, and he’s pretty easy on the eyes too😄) He tells me what to do, how to do it, and when.
There’s no guessing, no planning on my part, and no STRESS!
Most people pay hundreds of dollars 💵 a month for that kind of training. But not only that, they have to commit to time that works for someone else’s schedule.
Me, I pay about 8$ a month and I do this all on my schedule, that works for ME.
I am a busy mama, with 2 girls that are involved in sports and a hubby who loves to coach, plus working a full time job. I get that time and money is a real concern. But I also know that my health is pretty important too and I choose to make it a priority. I want to be able to keep up with my busy family. And I would rather put my time and money into being a better, healthier version of me than to put into dr bills, paying for medication or having to take the time to go to the see the dr. because of health issues.
There is ALWAYS going to be an investment, no matter what you choose. You have to decide which investment you are willing to put your time and money into!

It's crazy how much more our littles need us when they're sick. I've tried to get up to do dishes/housework multiple times but he keeps grabbing my arm and saying "no momma, cuddle". So, that's what I'll be doing today; the other stuff can wait. ❤

So, after my maternity leave, my schedule is completely changing and I’m going to work 2 overnight shifts. Then I will be home all.day.long with all three kids. Every day. Which is a huge answer to prayer, honestly. And most of the time when I think about it, I’m like 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼. However, mornings like today, when my two year old screams for an hour about yogurt, I’m a bit more apprehensive. And more like this. 🤦🏼♀️🙄🙄😭😭. So, Godspeed mamas, and caffeinate. XO

My babies start school tonite I officially have a 2nd grader, a 1st grader, and my belly boo is starting preschool! I am excited and sad all at once! Thank god I have the day off I am going to need it!
I think it is time for a reintroduction. Hi, I’m Shannon! The mama behind Balanced Abode! It’s been a few weeks since I have gotten the blog up and going and I feel like I need a little reset! I think my goal has become a little more clear as to my purpose here.
I am an everyday mom. I use a tripod or a toddler to take my photos, I bake with everyday pots and pans, and I do my diy projects with whatever tools I have handy. I workout pretty much only in my house because getting to the gym just isn’t in the cards these days and I don’t follow any strict diets. I don’t have it all figured out. But I am happy, and I work hard to keep that happiness for my family and to bring it to people I love. So now it’s time to keep spreading the happiness!
As my blog name implies balance is a big goal in our home, and that is just what I want to share with you. Balancing motherhood, health, our home and growing through this life! There is going to be a little more structured, more tips that have worked for me (whether health, diy, being a mom or just straight up life lessons) and things that inspire me. I’m finally back into my work routine and it feels great.

1. I lived in Los Angeles, California for a short time in my early 20’s. I learned so much about myself during this time. It was honestly not the easiest season of my life, but I wouldn’t trade it. ☀️
2. One of my favorite places in the 🌎 is sitting on my parents’ back deck! It is covered with beautiful flowers and lots of lush greenery. It’s peaceful and nostalgic...my safe place.
3. I am naturally a disorganized, fly by the seat my pants, blow where the wind takes me kind of gal! Becoming a wife and mom has helped me to get organized in many areas and plan better ~ well, plan a bit more. 😂 🤷🏻♀️
4. I love ketchup! I make myself not eat it on certain foods even though I want it. I do not let Braxton eat it very much only because I’m scared he will want it on everything. 🤦🏽♀️ 🤦🏽♀️
5. I was the only girl on my little league baseball team and I loved it! ⚾️⚾️⚾️

For the longest time I associated being fit (and actually even being beautiful) with the idea of needing to be “skinny”. I remember being in high school and killing myself to fit into a size 4. When i finally did (by creating very unhealthy habits) guess what?? I still wasn’t happy. I still struggled with my body image. See, it wasn’t till i was probably in my early 20s that I realized - I was never going to be “skinny”, my body composition and bone structure just weren’t built for that. And even after coming to that realization, I still didn’t embrace the beauty that comes with strength- muscles- grit. I struggled bc although I was in the gym everyday, getting stronger & leaner - I wasn’t developing my mental strength. I wasn’t feeding my mind to help me break that negative body image I had developed after so many years of being told (and believing) I had to look a certain way in order to beautiful, in order to fit in.
Today I think back to that Amy and say, I got you girl- look how far you’ve come and F*ck FITTING IN! Today, I LOVE being strong, I LOVE my muscles, I LOVE being able to lift more than some guys, I LOVE my body and the transformation it’s undergoing, I LOVE BEING ME!
Not only bc I’m starting to look good on the outside but bc on the inside I’m stronger than ever. My mindset is different, my goals are different, my ambitions are greater, and my desire to rise above all my past insecurities is stronger. Strong is beautiful, YOU are beautiful. No matter what shape, size or form.
