🧩 Are you mind-full or mindful? There are numerous benefits to mindfulness meditation, with just one of them being a reduction in catastrophization, which is an often unintended byproduct of persistent pain.
🧩 Persistent pain has also been shown to reduce gray matter in parts of the brain associated with pain, especially in those involved in emotional processes such as the Insula cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala.
🧩 Mindfulness, on the other hand, has been shown to INCREASE gray matter specifically in these areas and has been shown to be as effective as CBT for pain reduction in people with persistent low back pain (swipe left)
