Byla jednou jedna Dominika. Brala život děsně vážně. Byla ambiciózní, soutěživá, oblíbená..Dominika nosila roky oblečení, které se líbilo ostatním. Boty, které jí dělaly puchýře ale vypadaly dobře. A dokonce vlasy, které jí překážely, ale ostatní je obdivovali. Zatímco ostatní holčičky snily v dětství o princeznách, Dominika běhala ze zahrady sledovat v televizi Xenu (a Dádu!). Pomegranate season in India 🇮🇳 and this 👆has been my 4pm break for the last week. I’ve never really had the pleasure of eating a whole pomegranate. This ‘me time’ has turned into a regular bit of mindfulness and is a totally different experience to the often distracted prepping of the seeds for a recipe or to garnish a dish about to go out. After slicing the pomegranate in half I set the knife aside and carefully remove each seed with my fingers, pop it straight into my mouth and savour how each seed varies in taste and texture 😋 Sometimes I get greedy as a whole bunch fall into my hand, I bow my head and eat them straight from my palm ✋and then you get that explosion of sweet, and just a little tart, pomegranate juice (that stains a brilliant blue colour FYI!) followed by the gritty bit at the end which you learn to love ❤❤ With the availability of cut fruit, and boxes of pomegranate seeds ready to go at the supermarket, we forget that so much of the pleasure of eating food is in the prep itself ☺ Sticky fingers and an extra bit of work won’t appeal to many of us in the fast-pace of modern life 🌪🌪 but perhaps that’s the key to what we need more of? A bit of slow, a bit more consciousness, the pleasure with the pain of having to give it our full attention lest it gets the better of us. And a bit of a laugh too watching how everybody else eats theirs 😉😆❤

QUE .... let’s eat
No eating won’t take away those feelings , infact they will probably magnify them and you’ll wind up feeling worse and have guilt on top of it all.
Food isn’t good or bad it’s just food however it’s the emotions you have around certain foods that cause problems and leads to guilt and emotional eating.
Food should be used as nourishment, you should want to quite literally live by the quote you are what you eat .... eat well you’ll feel amazing .
When you feel this trigger here’s what you do
1- ask yourself am I physically hungry ... is your tummy rumbling , do nourishing foods appeal to you or are you just mad for chocolate or a biscuit?
2 - check your not thirsty when did you last drink some water was it a little while ago .... if so take a drink and wait another 5 minutes
3 - Reasses the hunger levels ... do you still want to eat ?
4 - If you choose to eat then do it and own that decision ... your not a failure for eating ... one bar of chocolate will not cause any issues if it satisfies your needs ...maybe the chicken salad was what you opted .
Either or it doesn’t matter but sit down and eat mindfully without distraction . Eat slowly and chew your food. Ask yourself how it tastes and when you finish simply move on with your day.
Remember food is fuel it is not a means of comfort . Learn to deal with those emotions

In an ideal world, all of the food I buy would be organic, grown as locally as is possible (in my allotment would be perfect) and sold without the need for any packaging whatsoever.
I follow so many people on social media, particularly from California, who are able to do just that and I feel both a little jealous of them, but also sometimes, like I'm not doing enough.
My reality is that I live in a part of the world that just isn't quite there yet. We don't have organic farmers markets and packaging is still a big issue.
I buy as much of our fresh organic produce as possible from Riverford Organics, who I love. They package predominantly in paper or cardboard, all fully recyclable or compostable, and all of their produce is both organic and ethically sourced.
Riverford, however, are significantly more expensive for many items compared to the bigger supermarkets.
In the last couple of months our intake of fresh fruit and veg has increased by about a third. And because it makes up such a huge portion of our diets we need more volume of food. This is especially true for Andy who struggles to keep weight on.
We can go through 9 bunches of bananas a week, 8 mangoes, 7 bags of spinach, 10 cucumbers (just to give you an idea). Our food bill began creeping up to around £250 a week for two of us and the food for the dogs (they eat a lot of fresh produce too) and as much as the food we eat is a priority, like everyone we have a budget to stick to.
I made the decision to start and go back to the larger supermarkets for some items which has saved us quite a bit of money. BUT, it does make me feel guilty as we now have unnecessary and in some cases plastic packaging.
Hopefully come the summer we will be producing a lot of food from our allotment and we will be able to go back to making all of our fresh purchases from Riverford.
Hopefully in the not too distant future, we will be able to pop to our local organic farmers market and buy completely packaging free. I'm seeing change all the time but I wish it would come sooner.
It's impossible to live at the moment without having some impact on the environment.
