😡 I can't cut through all the noise to get anyone’s attention! 😡 Sound familiar? Why do we assume that people will adapt to what WE WANT? Things change. It's called evolution. With social media consuming our everyday lives, "attention" has now become one of the world’s most value commodities. So the question is, how do you as a real estate agent get someone to PAY ATTENTION to you? By communicating on THEIR terms. This is especially true for millennials. Being one myself (borderline!) I can say that I would much rather text or email than talk to you on the phone - espcially if you're a salesperson. So beyond basic emailing, don't be shy to text, Facebook Message, Instagram DM, or communicate on whatever the next social media giant is. In other words, know your audience and communicate the way THEY’RE comfortable communicating. But that's just the beginning. The next thing to understand is that you need to be INTENTIONAL with EVERY message you send. Be SPECIFIC to THEM and ALWAYS OFFER something. “Hi John, This property just came up and I immediately thought of you. It has the view and layout you were looking for and is well within budget. Although it worked (with enough sweat equity), I always felt like I was "turning over rocks" to find my next client. I hated the feeling that I was bothering people who mostly had no interest in buying or selling real estate (and didn't want to talk to me). The reality is that most agents try and spread themselves too thin and end up with very little results on social media because they don't GO DEEP with any. I'm going to suggest that you start with ONE platform and master it before moving onto another. Yes, one. Why? Because if you try and balance too much you barely scratch the surface of what each platform can do. And in order to really extract all the lead generating goodness out of a platform, you need practice. Practice takes patience. I spent 2 years mastering Google Adwords before I even considered adding Facebook to my repertoire. Why? Because there was SO MUCH OPPORTUNITY with Google Ads and I didn't want to get distracted trying to learn another platform at the same time because it would have taken me off course. So resist the "shiny object syndrome" and FOCUS on the power of ONE. Once you master one, move onto the next one.. You'll thank me for it.
