This week is deload week so I decided to try something a little different. After I went through my normal warmup and performed my 3 sets of snatches, I decided to try out some pre-fatiguing of my bench and rows.
Pre-fatiguing is when you perform a lot of volume (here 4x25 each) prior to an exercise. I wanted to try this out as it can be a good way to train your body to work under fatigue. Some powerlifters will use this as a way to prepare their bench press for meets.
It also helps the muscles adapt to a new stimulus that may not have been there before.
While a normal warmup can help prepare the body for exercise, pre-fatigue can help it perform under stress that may happen in different situations during life, as well as for athletic competitions.
My workout today was:
10 minute dynamic warmup
3x6 @ 60% snatch
4x25 superset DB bench and machine row pre-fatiguing
3x10 superset bench and bent over row
3x10 superset front plate raise and lat push down
(For those wondering 225 is usually pretty easy but holy cow was it heavy today after my first time with the pre-fatigue)
