When we are born we are born whole and balanced and completely connected to source.
We are not born with self limiting beliefs, we are not born with lots of negative emotions.
So what happens why do we act the way we do why do we suffer?
Why do we carry negative emotions around with us all our lives?
Why do we become addicted to certain drugs, alcohol, shopping, sex, gambling?
Why do we suffer with our mental and emotional well-being?
Between the ages of 0 to 7 are the imprint years.
Even before we are born we take on things going on around us arguments, things being said.
These are vital years and In those years that's when we first learn our negative emotions of anger, sadness, fear, guilt, hurt, embarrassment.
Then we take them through our lives not realising where they come from, and we accept them as it's just the way we are. Things being said to you as a child by parents teachers peers the imprint in our minds in our unconscious minds that stick like glue. The way we were treated as young children also has an impact, neglect can have massive impact as an adult.
The damage has already been done but what if you could change that?
What if you could reprogram your mind? What if you could remove those negative emotions?
What if you could remove those self-limiting beliefs that hold you back?
I worked with a client who had taken on her parents negative emotions as a child, in fact when she was in the womb hearing her mum and dad argue she took on that guilt that anger and that sadness as her own. Then her mum and teachers telling her she wasn't good enough and would never get anywhere in life.
This resulted in her behaviour patterns being very aggressive, also led to numerous disastrous relationships. Picking the wrong type of man for her, various addictions and so on.
Luckily we were able to remove the negative belief system and negative emotions she is now flying in her business in her love life and now has enforced a positive set of behaviour patterns instead of destructive ones.

THE NIGHT MY LIFE CHANGED FOREVER.
So in my previous posts I've talked about some pretty serious shit that really fucked with my head. To the point that the only way I could describe how I was feeling was empty.
I lost all motivation to do anything, which anyone who knows me will tell you I've always been extremely ambitious. But suddenly any legacy I wanted to leave didnt mean a thing to me. Nothing did.
I came home one night, my housemates were out for dinner & the power was out for some reason. I was alone and in the dark. Great. Now the next hour or so gets a little bit hazy but i was in absolute hysterics. I didnt want to be here anymore. I ran a bath & was planning on not getting out again.
This is where it gets interesting, moments before It was supposed to end I heard a branch crack. It completely snapped me out of this almost trance like state and I got the fuck out of that bathroom. To this day I still wonder if that noise was just in my head.
After calming myself down a bit I sat down and I began to write down everything I hated about my life. I then sorted them into columns, things I can change & things I cant. I'm slowly crossing things off that list.
I find it funny that moments after the lowest point in my life, I learned something extremely important. Don't give excessive energy to things that you can't control & worry about what you can do.
Writing this out for the first time was actually a cathartic experience.
When life is sweet, say thank you and celebrate. When life is bitter, say thank you and grow. .

Why CBT Is Effective For Depression?
This picture presents Beck’s Cognitive Theory of Depression.
At the very top is what Beck calls ‘A Negative Triad’ which are negative thoughts about yourself, the world, and others. Beck believes this negative triad will lead to a ‘Cognitive Bias’ or rather distorted thinking which was discussed in our last post. As CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts effect our feelings and behaviours, this distorted thinking will lead to ‘Depressive Behaviours’, this will lead to ‘Depressive feelings’ which further compounds an individual’s Negative Triad.
CBT is an effective therapy for depression as it tackles two of the key areas within this cycle. CBT will challenge an individual’s Cognitive Bias by examining this bias against logical or evidence based thinking alongside challenging Depressive Behaviours by setting weekly behavioural based tasks or goals for individuals to achieve, for example going for a walk or talking to a family member.
Tackling these two main areas of the cycle, should reduce feelings of depression, which will reduce the strength of belief in an individual’s negative triad, and conceivably weaken the cycle.

My mental health problems began in my late teens and because the issues were never fully resolved, I lived with serious problems for thirty years. After my breakdown and attempted suicide in 2011, my own lifestyle changes transformed my wellbeing. Now, working as an inpirational speaker and author of Stripped Bare (swapping credit for compassion) I am thrilled to be kick-starting a series of talks in schools and colleges. Starting with Belper High School, I am hoping I can help make a difference for children and young people.
