👋 I’m steff, I may look easy and breezy in this photo but that’s not how I’m feeling in this moment. I was talking to my counsellor today, saying I think I put too much on my plate recently, and was kind of checking in and asking her ... if in fact I DID have too much on the go, like I needed some validation or permission to let something go. Can anyone else relate? Like you can always be doing more and there’s always something else to complete or accomplish. Leaning into how I can soften and slow down and put less pressure on myself, it’s all coming, in due time✨

People commonly ask me about rope climbing technique. The truth is, I’m not sure how to explain it to folks...j-hooks, s-hooks...it all seems the same to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ The first time I climbed a rope was in a @spartanrace and the result wasn’t pretty (burned up hands and inner thighs). All it took was that once, and I vowed to NEVER AGAIN fail a rope climb. My obstacle technique and skill is “home grown,” has been acquired through racing experience, and is honestly mostly just an accumulation of many NEVER AGAIN moments over time....So what’s the lesson here? As a parent of 2 children who recently started playing tennis at a competitive level, I very quickly realized that tennis is much more than hitting the ball with the right technique but also a very mental game. We started seeing our little girl Alice (9Y) losing matches not because of her tennis skills, but simply because she would let her emotions overtake her and become incredibly frustrated on the court, berating herself and hitting herself with her racquet when she made a mistake. Heading into #squats tonight I was extremely nervous. It would’ve been way easier to stay home, squat in my garage where nobody could see me, and if I failed nobody would know... but that’s not how we #grow . This is the price of obeying my county laws and having a legal cake studio, a SBA loan. Paid off early👏👏👏. If you look at the date of the loan you'll realize the economy was getting ready to crumble. The whispers and several months if being grilled by the bank was intense. Even with all my paid off assets the only reason I received the loan was my almost perfect credit score🙏🙏🙏🙏. In the end it almost cost 100k with the build out, architect, electrical engineer, plumbers, city, car, delays, my oven shipped from St. Louis etc. This is why my prices are what they are. Putting one foot in front of the other takes on a while new meaning when you’re actually focusing on #puttingonefootinfrontoftheother . Running my #halfmarathon last Saturday, it was so hot and humid that all I could focus on was putting one foot in front of the other. It became a #mental game. I had to have my mind in the right place while I was running mile stretches where there was no shade, seeking out every #waterstation and #sprinkler I could find. My headphones died 11 miles into the 13.1 miles and I had to finish the race with no music. It’s tough enough with some tunes but when you’re the only #voiceinyourhead , it really becomes a mind fuck. I told myself with every stride that I was closer to #mygoal . I told myself that my body was #strong and my #mind was stronger. There was #noquit but there was also no #swallowingmypride . I was so proud of myself for going out there and running in really #toughconditions and having the #tenacity to keep going. I read my body and knew when to walk and when to run and I made it. #imadeit I finished and I have the #medal to prove it but the memory and knowledge that this was #allme #alltheway . Today was a big day in many ways. I am a Type A personality who has trouble “turning off,” so going about 24 hours without doing work was a mixture of difficult to do mentally but also very freeing. It was also a big day for me physically since I fasted, no water 💧(drink) or food 🥘 for 24 hours. I am not a proponent of fasting, so it definitely wasn’t for reasons beyond the day’s significance. Besides a headache and extreme thirst (Why did I add those jalapeños in last night?!), I did okay! I haven’t fasted in 2 years since last year I was nursing, so I was struggling, but isn’t that the point? I sat with the boys and we also wrote lists 📝for each of us of wonderful characteristics about each, as well as things we can work on as individuals over the next year. We will look at it throughout the year to see how we are doing and to appreciate one another’s strengths. Get rid of the shame that counseling means there’s something wrong! We take the car for regular maintenance to help it last long. The same thing applies when we go to counseling for our mind. It’s better than getting sick due to too much stress. Marriages should go to counseling regularly to get more wisdom. Couples should always get regular tuneups and go to counseling so the couple could stay on the same track and not go on different lanes in life. Our children need to go to counseling too even if you think they don’t need it. Teens need it on a regular basis to cope with hormones. We all need it so let’s admit it feels good to get our thoughts and relationships healthier. Stop focusing on your weight and kids grades and focus on things we can’t even see but could feel hearts are hurting. It’s suicide prevention month and time to go to counseling before something bad could happen. If we don’t go to take the car in, eventually it will break, same thing with our children’s mental health and marriages. Everything we value, we should check and see if we could make it better. Nothing just happens, pay attention to your love ones more than material stuff like your bank account and your fancy purse. Contrary to popular belief, weight loss/fat loss has very little to do with your physical abilities and WAY more to do with your mindset. . . These 5 mindsets are poison ☠️...not just to your weight loss journey, but to your while life. Finances, friendships, family and work spaces are all negatively impacted by these mindsets. . I’ll elaborate: . 1. “It’s not my fault” is the same as not taking responsibility for your actions. If something goes wrong at your work, with a project or assignment you’ve been given, it’s YOUR job to take responsibility. If you botch your nutrition, it’s NO ONE’S fault but yours. You can’t learn from your mistakes if you never own them. Blame shifting happens when you let your mistakes own you...there’s a huge difference in those two things. Admit when you mess up, learn and move on. Renewing this mindset is, in my opinion, the most important! Change this and watch your whole life change. . . 2. “Team no sleep”...I feel like the fitness world wears this like a badge of honor. “I grind so hard I never sleep”, that’s stupid and detrimental to your health. The true grind will incorporate getting 8 hours of sleep. . . 3. “What will they think of me”. You can never do anything great with this mindset because you’ll never allow yourself to take risks. Be who you were created to be, even if no one else understands! Every world changer was seen as crazy at first. Be willing to look crazy...it unconsciously allows other people to do the same. . . 4. “Short term” mindsets live around 10 day detoxes and extreme crash diets. These men and women tend to live their life in a yo-yo cycle with weight loss. Switching your mindset to a long-term mindset will set you up for true success. . . 5. “I don’t need anyone”. I heard an incredibly wise man say, “Even the best coaches need coaches”. I believe this is 100% accurate. I don’t care how intelligent you are, someone is smarter and someone has done it longer. Finding a community of people to learn, encourage and grow from will be the greatest thing you’ll ever do for your health! . . I hope this was beneficial fam! Those elements that help me sort out a situation can also alter the reality of it. Looking from the outside in to my life requires conscience choice. As I train clients, the relationship deepens. I can't help but look at myself as clients look at themselves. I believe that is part of strength- the ability to look and see through the clouded glass to a clearer reality. An interesting exercise to try before you eat when you are not actually hungry: Fill your mind with gentle, loving thoughts before you take your first bite. Gentle thoughts are those that reinforce the beauty of life and the privilege of being here. They can range from thoughts about love & peace, to forgiveness & generosity. I got a message last night from a woman saying.. “I really want to do what you do but I can’t. I care too much about what others would think of me. I could never post things like you do. How did you stop caring?” . Girls, ugh, let me tell you this... if I can do this, YOU can do this!!! I was depressed, anxious, insecure, worked 3 damn jobs because I knew it’s what OTHERS thought I should be doing... making decisions based on OTHER PEOPLES expectations was my M (MF) O! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I did higher education because “society said so,” only shared “highlights” from my life on Facebook, and a few times LIED on social media because I was jealous of everyone else’s lives and comparing my life to theirs... serious denial! You know what I had?! A life that was shitty and NOT MINE! When you start making LIFE decisions based on OTHERS EXPECTATIONS you have a life that is NOT YOURS!... but if people approved, shouldn’t I have been happy? FUCK NO! {miserable🤦🏻‍♀️} . You know what was funny? When I tried to buy food, pay my car payment, rent, all that... you know what form of payment they DO NOT accept but I have MORE of than money!? OPINIONS OF OTHERS!!! . SO I went against what THEY wanted and THEY said was good for me... started sharing my journey for health and HAPPINESS on social media and I started sharing things that made me feel insecure and alone... and fun fact, I WASN’T ALONE! ... amazing! . THEN I started building a business that most people give a bad name to... sharing sweaty selfies and videos, and what happened? I WAS HAPPIER! I felt more ALIVE! Like I was DOING SOMETHING of value! And because of that, my INCOME WENT UP... and now, 4 years later, SIGNIFICANTLY! I started creating my LIFE 💕 . Life is short bro, and caring about what others think doesn’t make it longer, but HARDER. And I want to live my life on MY terms! . So STOP checking off boxes and caring what others think of YOUR LIFE. Instead, make them jealous AF that YOU have the COURAGE to live your OWN LIFE! In the end, that’s what matters!!!! ⁣ Deadlift PR! 335lbs for 3 reps!⁣ Also hit 355lbs for 1 rep right after this but I wasn’t able to record it.⁣ ⁣- Body weight: Still 133lbs (looking to put more weight on soon)⁣ -⁣ Deadlifting has definitely been my weakest lift out of the big 3 lifts. Me neglecting it has definitely showed. Just started hitting it consistently and I’m finally starting to see results. 9 Month Transformation‼️⁣ ⁣ 1st picture: 09/04/18 (Present)⁣ Weight: 133lbs ⁣ ⁣ 2nd picture: 12/01/17 (First day cleared of 10lb restrictions/post surgery)⁣ Weight: 118lbs ⁣ ⁣ Background: Due to poor choices, I had gotten myself into a car accident. As a result I had fractured ribs, traces of bilateral pneumothorax, and my stomach went through my diaphragm. My stomach was in my chest and I immediately needed to undergo surgery to repair my diaphragm. Despite my poor choices, I was lucky. Long story short, due to being in the hospital/surgery I lost almost 25-30lbs in less than a month. I dropped from 140lbs to close to 110lbs. I was not allowed to lift anything heavier than 10lbs until December 1st (2nd pic). Although I knew it was going to be hard to start from scratch, I had no doubt in my mind that I was going to be able to get back to where I was.
