Sam Kieth. One of the first comics I remember buying off of the rack is Marvel Comics Presents #90
. It had two amazing covers (scroll right to see), one was a quiet moment seen through a trippy bubble window, with a tore up Wolverine and a curvy Frazetta type girl, the other a badass Cable and Ghost Rider. This first image is from that issue as well. Still maybe my favorite Wolverine splash of all time! It is funny how you take things for granted, but I figured that there was a lot of artists and comics like Kieth was doing. Boy, was I wrong. I was just lucky. I remember trying to copy how he drew hair vividly. Later he would create the Maxx and disappear, only to return sporadically, I think partially due to huge royalty checks from cocreating Sandman!? He can just do what he wants. Which is fitting, because he is a true iconoclast, always unique and amazing.
