So as some might see, i have cyano. It started with the top left rock getting all fuzy with red alge, and then it grew longer. To try and get ris of the worst i acctualy threw the rock away and tried the darkening method. I put a cardboard box over the whole tank for 4 days. This was a month ago and now its back (ofc). My plans are to move my clown fish to my new tank, treat this tank with red slime remover and try to get ris of the cyano to move everything to the mew tank. Stay tuned 😰 #cyano#cyanobacteria#saltwatertank#marinelife#coral#clownfish#nanoreef#nanotank#sadreefer

Here, a few remaining colonies of elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) survive on its once large structure. These corals helped build the reefs in the Caribbean and today face a major threat of extinction. Elkhorn coral is a critically endangered species according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is listed as threatened on the U.S. Endangered Species Act. Things like ocean warming, ocean acidification, and disease threaten their existence.
Only a few couple of days and phase 1 of my fieldwork is wrapped!😲 People had wonderful encounters with Humpback whales and their young which I believe has led to a deeper appreciation of these creatures. In the end it is all a matter of respect. I hope that my findings will contribute to the preservation of the islands' nature and it's marine visitors. Niue still has an unspoilt character which is a number one attraction for many. I'll conclude my time in a final blog post soon so stay tuned!!🐳🐳🐳 #Repost@lonelywhale (@get_repost )

Did you know? Tiger Sharks can live up to 50 years with females tending to grow larger than males. It is believed that females are bigger, because they need to be able to carry their large litter of pups during gestation. The tiger shark is the only species in its family that is ovoviviparous; its eggs hatch internally and the young are born live when fully developed.
