Confidence means something different to each person. You must choose what it is to you, and then create a plan for achieving it! When I started my fitness journey, I had no plan, I just knew I needed to make a change. Being unprepared doesn’t mean you will fail, it just takes a little longer than you may want.⠀ ⠀ My goal as a coach is to help other women find what confidence is for them, and help them achieve it. I hate when people ask me "aren't you on a diet?" when they see me eating something sweet. When I think about a diet, I associate it with a negative mindset. I picture food as the enemy, something that is temporary and leading to a "finish line". I think about a journey focused on the scale, and all the things that I don't like about myself. All the bad habits that I formed.⠀ ⠀ If you've followed me for a while, you know that nutrition is the part of my journey that I struggle with the most. I have worked hard to improve my relationship with food, and what I've learned is that my mindset has a lot to do with my failures and successes. ⠀ ⠀ Now, when someone asks me about my "diet", I confidently tell them that I am not on a diet, I am living a healthy lifestyle. I see food as fuel, and use good habits to form the future I want for myself. It's not about the scale, or restricting, its about daily choices. ⠀ ⠀ There is no "finish line" in a healthy lifestyle, it is a lifelong journey. After I lost a significant amount of weight, and felt more comfortable in my body and more confident myself, I decided to stop paying such close attention to the scale, and learn to pay better attention to how I feel, and how I look. When you start to live an overall healthier lifestyle, you can feel that. I feel more energized, more motivated, more confident, and all without the added stress of wondering how much I’m going to weigh when I step in the scale. STOP getting so obsessed with the numbers, and start celebrating the journey you are on. Look at where you came from, look at where you are now, and look at where you want to go. Two weeks progress. I am really starting to see my figure pop again and I LOVE it. When I moved into my new apartment, I didn’t buy a scale. I decided that I would base my progress on photos and measurements, because my weight doesn’t really matter to me. My journey has never really been about that. It’s been about CONFIDENCE. And as I continue to move forward in this path, how I feel about myself is 100x more import than a number on a scale. ⠀ ⠀ Let’s use 2019 to celebrate our non-scale victories! Yes, we can keep track of our weight, but let’s focus more on being happy, feeling healthy, and treating our bodies right. NSV::non scale victories:: losing inches is just as, if not more exciting than seeing your numbers drop on the scale! I’m tryin not to weigh myself and focus so much on that number because there are more things tied to it like water weight and whatnot so it’s not always an accurate gauge of measurement. Today I can tell you that I was very happy to learn I’ve lost an inch off my arms, 2 1/2 inches off my chest (not too excited about that one tho🙄), 2 1/2 inches off my waist and an inch and a half off my thighs! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. . . I’m definitely not following any sort of meal plan or guide but rather taking information from them. Drinking more water and way less soda or any other drink. Swapping out high carb foods with a better option. For example today, I went to lunch with my grandma and the plate I ordered came with red potatoes and even though they are a better option than fries (my normal side) I swapped them out for green beans instead. With it being a new year, and having new followers, I think it’s only right to start by introducing myself! . My name is Nicole, I am 28 years old, and I am a book nerd, a fitness junkie, and a HUGE Harry Potter fan! I like to bowl and go to the movies, and also sit on my couch and binge watch Netflix with a glass of wine! . Confidence and body image are two things I never really struggled with, but a few years ago, I had just gotten out of a 5 year relationship, I was hopping from job to job, and I didn’t feel like I had a purpose. I was stressed, so I ate 🧁. I was feeling down on myself, so I ate 🍕🍟 My friends would ask me to go out, but I didn’t like the way my clothes fit, so I stayed home. Over the course of a year, I gained 75 lbs. I tried hiring a personal trainer 🏋🏽‍♀️, I tried other online programs, but nothing I did brought me out of the rut I was in. . I found a fitness program that only required me to workout 25 minutes a day, and I could do it at home 🏠 at my own pace, without any judging eyes at the gym. After finishing the program, I started going to a local group fitness class, and that sparked my love for fitness. I lost 35 lbs after a year of the group fitness classes. I was fitting into clothes I hadn’t worn in years, but most importantly, I was CONFIDENT again. . I was a girl who went from hating herself and her body, to feeling the most CONFIDENT I have ever felt in my life, and I wanted to share that. So last year, I became a Health & Fitness Coach because I wanted others to hear what I needed to hear when I was in my dark place. You are NOT alone. You can get out of this place. It’s hard to believe that 2018 is coming to a close. Looking back on this year, there are a few things that I think are really going to make 2019 an amazing year for me. First and foremost, I started my coaching business. This is a decision I made that has literally changed my life. I never thought that my fitness journey would be anything other than what it is, and this year I was able to use all of the struggles I’ve been through to help motivate and inspire other women to start their journeys, and do the same. So I definitely not on purpose lost 10 lbs. Wisdom teeth recovery took a little longer than expected, but I came out the other side 10lbs lighter. Obvs I didn’t eat any solid food for over a week so what did I expect? 🤔 ⠀ ⠀ Now although I wouldn’t recommend that particular weight loss strategy, it’s nice to see that I’m slimming out a bit! Life gets busy, especially around this time of year. However, I will not let that be an excuse to stop working toward my goals. Yesterday, I worked two jobs (5:30am-1:30pm then 2:30pm-10:45pm). I got home at 11:20ish. I had to be back up for work at 4am this morning, so I could do it all over again 🙄 I could have let all that stop me from working out, but when you have made a commitment to yourself to work towards something, you make it a no matter what. So pressed play on a 31 minute workout at 11:23p, and I MADE IT HAPPEN! . With this new job, I expect that there will be more days like this, which is why I am SUPER excited for the training program I will be starting soon. Why am I so excited? Not only can I train from the comfort of my own home (or anywhere really), but the workouts are only 20 minutes long! This is going to be HUGE for me. If I can’t find 20 minutes during my day to work on my health and fitness, then I must not really want it. .
