Life gets busy, especially around this time of year. However, I will not let that be an excuse to stop working toward my goals. Yesterday, I worked two jobs (5:30am-1:30pm then 2:30pm-10:45pm). I got home at 11:20ish. I had to be back up for work at 4am this morning, so I could do it all over again 🙄 I could have let all that stop me from working out, but when you have made a commitment to yourself to work towards something, you make it a no matter what. So pressed play on a 31 minute workout at 11:23p, and I MADE IT HAPPEN! . With this new job, I expect that there will be more days like this, which is why I am SUPER excited for the training program I will be starting soon. Why am I so excited? Not only can I train from the comfort of my own home (or anywhere really), but the workouts are only 20 minutes long! This is going to be HUGE for me. If I can’t find 20 minutes during my day to work on my health and fitness, then I must not really want it. . Over the summer, I went to a HUGE weekend business conference, where I, and THOUSANDS of people who do what I do got together to learn how to SUPERCHARGE 🔋our businesses. Confidence and body image are two things I never really struggled with, but a few years ago, I had just gotten out of a 5 year relationship, I was hopping from job to job, and I didn’t feel like I had a purpose. I was stressed, so I ate 🧁. I was feeling down on myself, so I ate 🍕🍟 My friends would ask me to go out, but I didn’t like the way my clothes fit, so I stayed home. Over the course of a year, I gained 75 lbs. I tried hiring a personal trainer 🏋🏽‍♀️, I tried other online programs, but nothing I did brought me out of the rut I was in. . One day, I took a family picture and when I looked at it, I didn’t even recognize myself. I had gained so much weight, wearing nothing but leggings and sweaters and I literally started crying for what I had become. That was the moment when I told myself that I could not continue to live like this. . I found a fitness program that only required me to workout 25 minutes a day, and I could do it at home 🏠 at my own pace, without any judging eyes at the gym. After finishing the program, I started going to a local group fitness class, and that sparked my love for fitness. I lost 35 lbs after a year of the group fitness classes. I was fitting into clothes I hadn’t worn in years, but most importantly, I was CONFIDENT again. . I was a girl who went from hating herself and her body, to feeling the most CONFIDENT I have ever felt in my life, and I wanted to share that. I became a coach because I wanted others to hear what I needed to hear when I was in my dark place. You are NOT alone. You can get out of this place. 💦Drinking water is something that is SUPER important to your health. About 60% of our body is made of water, and it affects a number of our bodies processes and functions. . It’s recommended that you drink one half of your body weight in ounce everyday. (I am currently 197lbs, so I should be downing at least 99oz a day 😟) . When you’re someone like me who would rather drink a two-liter of Mountain Dew over a 20oz bottle of water 🙄, you have to find ways to make your water fun and flavorful. So I am going to test out different infusions, and see what the benefits are, and how that change affects how much water I’m drinking in a day. If you told me when I started my fitness journey, that I would become a Fitness Influencer making a business out of fitness, i would have said YOU’RE CRAZY! Hedonic eating is eating for pleasure or past that point of hunger , aka = “living to eat “. This would be treats that tend to come after your dinner meal 🥘. Usually high i salt , sugar and fat . Chocolate Oreos chips etc ! 😿 Some interesting and helpful take away points to learn about these 2 theories of why people eat : . - hedonic eating is linked to eating highly palatable foods at any given meal . These are REWARD Foods ; high in fat , salt , sugar simple sugars , such sweetened beverages ( full sugar coke , chips chocolates , cookies etc ) , these are known to instigated that ; give me more “ or “cant stop at one “ kind of feeling . . Non-hedonic foods , such as your nutritient dense , high fibre fruits 🍇 🍑🍌🌽🥦🥝🍏🍅🥚and veggies , are less palatable but satiating enough that once satisfied you be likely to stop there, I bet you won’t go for a second plate of steam brócoli 🥦 right ?? . Tip: focus on having nutrient dense , low gi foods , fibrous foods and lean proteins , legumes and wholesome fresh foods at all your meals . Reduce the palatability of your plate as this might mean saving calories for your refeed meal on the weekend ! Woke up today feeling very disappointed about the “lack of progress” I’ve been making. I looked at my goals from a numbers standpoint and was not happy that I’m not where I’d predicted I would be at this point. . I went to the gym, and took my progress photos, and I was pleased surprised with how I look compared to me week one photos. Let’s talk Foam rollers! Also referred to as self-myofascial release, foam rolling is essentially a form of self-massage that allows you to apply deep pressure to certain points of the body to release tightness and muscular tension. . . I am so glad the first thing our trainer introduced us to at the gym was the roller. Especially since I mentioned I enjoy running. I roll pre and post workout and find that pre workout prepared my body for the task ahead and post workout helps in the process of recovery. I believe it’s the reason neither my husband nor me have had any injuries to date while working out. . . My roller is precious! That’s because it offers many of the benefits of a sports massage and I love a good massage😁😆. Then imagine the joy of finding an option that’s cheaper and more importantly accessible anytime and anywhere you want!! Woooo hoooo! . . Regular use has made me recognise the benefits. Here are some : *promotes blood flow *aids in recovery by removing lactic aid *reduces pain and soreness *improves mobility and flexibility- and we all know how essential this is for training *reduces inflammation . . . Here are some mistakes I would personally make myself when I started rolling and that our trainer corrected me on: * rolling exactly over where you feel the pain. Instead better to start with a more localised region. * Rolling too fast🤦🏻‍♀️. Keep it slow and concentrate * You don’t have to roll evenly on both sides of say the calf muscle. Spend more time on the area you feel more tightness or soreness around. * Do not hold your breathe - take long , deep breathes to avail the benefits of rolling. . . The foam rollers convenience , versatility and simplicity will amaze you! . . Duration: If you have just 15 -20 mins in a day you can easily do a simple foam rolling workout session in itself. More you foam roll, more your body responds. No harm doing it everyday. I promise once you start rolling , you will roll baby roll 🤣🤣!
