You know, sometimes you walk past a sign that says “Cinema” every so often and wonder “when the hell am I going to do something about it?!”, especially when it’s close to home. Unbeknownst to me, under a small café in Chiswick layed a little home away from home.
As you walk past @brew_cafe
in Chiswick, you wouldn’t suspect there to be opportunity to see a film while enjoying a meal. Putting on classic films, this location prides itself in an affordable night out with its meal and movie offer, which is only £13 for a pizza, drink and a film. Not too shabby.
Speaking of the cinema portion itself, I will have to state that it is merely a projector hooked up to a DVD player. I will say now that there is some work to be done on both the video (a slight calibration and upgrade to Blu-ray would do wonders) and the audio quality (a single speaker was being used in one corner of the room, not great if you’re hard of hearing like me).
With that out of the way, I fell in love with the small room under the café as it offered a limited amount of allocated seating (with your name on a card thank you!) either behind a large table (great for munching on that pizza) or in beach chairs. It felt like watching a film with friends in a cozy living room. There’s some great potential and I’d love to see it grow!
