Guide to Deepdale Festival 2018 #6
: Man The Lifeboats - Sunday
Thinking of leaving Deepdale Festival early on Sunday? Think again!
We are thrilled to announce our very special guests, Man The Lifeboats, rising stars of the London folk/punk scene.
Headlining the Orchard Stage on Sunday, and variously described as ‘like a stripped back Bellowhead for cynical city dwellers’, 'with more momentum than the Levellers' and the ‘best thing since Oysterband’, make sure you save some wear in your dancing shoes!
Man the Lifeboats play raucous, upbeat folk music, for those who like a drink with their tunes. This London-based five-piece use an array of instruments to craft songs with big choruses that tell unforgettable stories.
Formed in the wake of a blistering Skinny Lister gig back in 2016, Harvey, Richie, Sam, Dan and David have taken their shared love of straight-up lyrics, pounding bass-lines, lilting mandolin and fiddle melodies and stomping beats and have created a sound that would not be out of place at a party at the end of the world.
With influences including the Pogues, Bellowhead, Tom Waits, Dylan, Springsteen, Frank Turner, Holy Moly & the Crackers, and of course, Chic, it’s no surprise Man The Lifeboats deliver a blistering live experience, tales of lost evenings, ballads of doomed love and shanties about whisky-soaked nights, Michael Palin, and the end of the world.
It’s not over til it’s over - what a Sunday we have in store for you!
Also playing the Festival on Sunday are Das Fenster & The Alibis, HyperFox, Sam Coe & The Long Shadows, Alton Wahlberg, Bernard Hoskin, Kolin Durier, The Doohickies and The Hilgay All Stars Swing Band.
