#progresspic leg edition! It's been one month since receiving my @zozoglobal suit and I'm soooo glad I got one! There's not a huge difference on the scale so far, but I've collectively lost 21 inches! TWENTY-FREAKING-ONE! The biggest change is in my legs (thanks yoga!) Though I also lost 2 inches in my chest and 2 in my waist. Every part of me shrunk. 😃 My zozo is my new best friend and I can't wait until I have to order a smaller size!! Posted @withrepost@fitwithhqdealz ❌ STOP COUNTING CALORIES ❌ - Did you know that counting calories will only get you so far? 👀 - While total calorie intake will directly impact weight loss or weight gain, there’s more to the picture than simply calories in vs. calories out. - 🤲🏼 Controlling your portions — eating the right amount of protein, carbs, veggies and fats at each meal — is imperative for making optimal progress on your fitness goals. - 🥗 This is because each macronutrient (protein, carbs and fats) plays a different role in body composition, hormone regulation, energy levels, gut health and more. - So while calories do matter a whole lot, it is also important to monitor macronutrient intake alongside total calories consumed. - You can control your portions by using a food scale ⚖️ or measuring cups, or if you’re on the go or simply don’t have time to measure something out exactly, you can use your hand 👌🏼 as a measuring tool. - For men, at each meal: ▪️2 palm-sized portions of protein ▪️2 cupped-hand sized portions of carbs ▪️2 first-sized portions of veggies ▪️2 thumb-sized portions of fats - For women, at each meal: ▫️1 palm-sized portion of protein ▫️1 cupped-hand sized portion of carbs ▫️1 first-sized portion of veggies ▫️1 thumb-sized portion of fats - 👍🏼 And while this Portion Control Guide is a great rule of thumb, it’s okay if portions at each meal are not perfectly equal and it’s alright to eat more or less than 1-2 servings per meal so long as total calories and macros for the day are aligned with your goals. - How do you measure your portions? Check out that difference in a person a small change can make. Since October 2017, Ive been waking up at 410am for work that started at 5am. I literally gave myself 10 minutes to be out the door because i was still always so tired. Even after getting enough hours of sleep. Today starts my new schedule where I will start work at 8:30am. And even though i only woke up 2 hours later than i was before, even with going to bed much later (didnt fall asleep until about 11. Have to get used to this schedule now!) I feel a million times more energetic and happy. So, going to drink my #preworkout , get my groove on to my dancing workout, and enjoy the heck out of my day. Pissed at the scale today? ⠀ Give me 30-60 seconds, and I promise you’ll be much less upset about your heavier-than-normal weigh-in this morning 😁 ⠀ Body weight is an incredibly helpful tool for analyzing progress. Problem is, most people don’t know how to analyze it properly... ⠀ Most people see their weight day-to-day (or even once a week) and think the single number flashing up at them is all that matters. ⠀ But(🍑) your weight on a single day doesn’t tell the whole story... ⠀ Maybe you weighed yourself this morning, saw a 2-3 pound spike from the previous day, and fearfully assume it’s 2-3 pounds of pure fat 🤬… ⠀ NO! 🙅‍♂️ That’s not what happened at all! ⠀ The 2-3 pounds you see has nothing to do with fat. It’s just extra water 💦 and food in your belly-bum that’s yet to be disposed of 👉💩 ⠀ Stick to your plan, and that weight will flush right out 👍 ⠀ Unfortunately, most people take a different route. Instead of getting back on track, they’ll cut calories 💀, do “guilt” cardio 😰, or just quit altogether 😔 ⠀ Don’t fall for that trap! ⠀ You know that your weight on a single day does NOT define your progress as a whole. ⠀ The Bottom Line: ⠀ It’s 100% normal to see your weight fluctuate up and down 2-3 pounds day-to-day. 💥CALORIE DEFICIT TO LOSE FAT💥 - - - Follow @kurtrawlinsfitness for 🔑 fitness and nutrition tips - - - The amount of misinformation fed to the general public in regards to nutrition and weight loss can be frustrating beyond belief. - So many people have fallen prey to so many myths: - ❌ Eat clean foods to lose fat (it’s great for overall health and contributes to fat loss, but is not the answer to losing fat) - ❌ Go low carb to lose fat (if going low carb helps you lower overall calories and is sustainable, it can be a great strategy. However, there are other, more sustainable ways of losing fat for most people.) - There are many others I will cover in a later post. - Anyways, this graphic is mainly to show you the importance of a calorie deficit to lose fat. It is the main driver of fat loss - and you can get there several different ways. - You can continue to eat your 3 square meals as long as you are in a deficit. - If intermittent fasting helps you get in a deficit more easily (it works for many people, but isn’t for everyone), then go for it. - And hey, if you have tried keto and it is a sustainable way of eating for you, great - do it. Easter Binge? In the past I would have 'pigged out' on tons of chocolate for breakfast and still 'stuffed my face' with a gigantic roast dinner. I would have 'wolfed down' more chocolate for dessert and finished the day with a double helping if shame. I don't do that anymore. For a start, I try not to use that language. Saying I am 'pigging out' means I am reinforcing a negative self view. 'Stuffing my face' primes my brain to accept that this is how I eat and sets the tone for the next encounter with food. The hardest part though was giving myself FULL PERMISSION to eat what I want, when I want it. Did it take time to adjust to this? Absolutely! Initially I overate BUT I did not berate myself over it. I accepted that I used it as an excuse to use food to numb out. Part of the process is discerning what your body REALLY wants to eat and what your mind wants you to eat. I am far from perfect. I still overeat but I do not binge like I used to. If you did just one exercise per day we recommend the humble squat. Squats are one of the best exercises for realising multiple benefits. If you’re new to squats here are just 3 of the benefits: 1. They activate multiple muscles, including one of the largest in your body - the glutes. This has the benefit of giving more of your body a workout and burning more calories. 2. They can be done anywhere, any time and only need equipment when you want to make your workout harder. Even doing just 50 per day can have benefits for your body (if need be start with sets of 5 or 10 until you can eventually do 50 without stopping). 3. It helps to strengthen your joints, which can help to maintain them as you age. So, make sure the squat is built into your regular exercise routines or, if you’re new to exercising, start incorporating squats into your daily habits. So definitely use this to your advantage. - I do think having a salad with protein a day will most likely lower your carb intake and thus your total caloric intake. Not to say that carbs are bad, but it’s just another easy way to eat less calories during the day! - Having protein snacks on hand instead of highly palatable (carb and fat) snacks will help you a lot, especially with satiety and your overall daily protein intake. Also, if you normally eat a snickers bar as a snack and switch to protein bar or shake, you’ll probably see a significant calorie reduction too. - Caffeine is hunger suppressant, you probably already know this, but use it to your advantage. - AND keeping your meals simple is a HUGE one. A very fun weekend! Here’s a compilation of most of my delicious food. I was over my numbers a bit, but enjoyed every minute with friends and family. Things not pictured included a handful or two of jelly beans and some bites of sugar cookie. We had some great family time this weekend and broke in our new grill with our first pizza party. Mine was perfectly weighed and tracked. This is more than I usually eat, but still lifetime away from my old lifestyle of eating until I was miserable 4-5 nights a week. And Holidays....forget about it. They were burn the house down kind of affairs. With all that being said, I have tomorrow completely planned and I am so ready to have that salad for lunch tomorrow! 😊 Happy Easter! I hope you had a day that brought you great joy! 💗

Faced my fears today and went zip lining!! It actually turned out to be more than zip lining, we had actual courses to go through and when I tell you, it was hard! First of all the weight limit was 250 lbs and I understood why! You need upper body strength and balance to complete the course!
