The picture that turned my day into one amazing adventure!
The Himalayan Blue sheep / Bharal or known as Nabo in Spitian.
We decided to drive to Langza, Hikkim & Komic and left Kaza in the afternoon on 3rd January. This is was also the day we were supposed to see the Quadrantids meteor shower. We were just 4kms from Langza, when we saw a big BIG herd of blue sheep on one side of the mountain!
We immediately stopped and I ran up the mountain, literally ran up at 14,000ft in a way they don't runaway, and I get close enough. When suddenly I saw a few of them run to the other side from the road, and this shot came in my mind.
After spending a decent amount of time, I asked Radhika and Varticka to continue while I decided to stay and try to get this shot, for I thought I'll wait for sometime for them to again come down from the mountain, and then walk 15kms to Kaza.
They left, I found my spot which was the least windy, set up my camera, played some songs & took out my Toblerone.
I was having my mini roadside party while the blue sheep were grazing up the mountain.
After nearly 30 minutes, I saw four of them running down the mountain and immediately got up, went in the middle of the road, and finally got this!
I was so happy that after this shot I went even closer to them, but then they started running away and I just shouted sorry and started walking to Kaza. 😂
Now was the 15kms walk while the sun was setting, I got offered a lift but I declined, for I wanted to walk!
And what a brilliant day it was, seeing such a big herd is very rare, walking from Langza to Kaza in January even more, and having the time of my life, well that's not very rare to be very honest. :P
