One final image from my most recent blog post for you on this #traveltuesday
Not just because the dish was enjoyed overseas, but because the post also highlights the rest of my day out and about in London!

This is a super simple way to catch a big bass!
With a small hook and bread fish for bluegill or other bait species in the area(personally I don’t use and weights or bobbers)bluegill have a thin gland on the side of there cheek insert the hook through their and put it were you want in the water as gently as you can and let it do it’s thing, when your line starts to take off close your bail and let it take the slack then firmly set the hook. Hope this helps any new anglers!
•smaller the fish the better your chances of getting bit
•don’t flip the bass on to the dock the hook has a good chance of bending out
•if your bait doesn’t get bit release it back into the water

So I went on a solo day trip to London yesterday (brave, I know), and ended up eating THE MOST delightful French toast in the winter sunshine. Dreamy.

🌎Covent Garden, London, UK.
The beautiful city of Liverpool may be best known for the Beatles, the Liver Birds and football, but there is so much more to it. With fabulous 19th century architecture mixed with stylish modern developments, the city has benefited from extensive regeneration and investment to its docks, the wider city and surrounding areas.
Spicy sausage, mozzarella, broccoli, cream 🥦🍕 I can’t tell you how delicious it was! ❤️ @pizzaeast
Who says January’s aren’t for cake?! It’s the perfect substitute for alcohol if you’re doing a dry January and also helps with muscle definition and fat burning if you’re going to the gym...honest guv...ahem.
This cake is even more healthy as it’s made with matcha powder with added healthy white chocolate.... I left the top edges ruffled instead of sharp for some added texture. And forgive the lighting on the photo - I’m still having problems with the fading light...come on spring, get your ass in to gear!

Paris Hazelnut Brest & Strawberry Cheesecake.
The former was creamy and rich but with a soft crust and tad too sweet.
The latter had a nice strawberry scent, the biscuit layer at the bottom can be more generous though
Clearly I need to up my soup pic game - should have put it on a table cloth with bread and other accompaniments - but the truth is... we made soup, we put it in a bowl and ate it! For those wondering (or haven’t got bored reading) - it’s a roasted red pepper and crab soup. It’s a lovely rich, full of flavour soup, enhanced by the roasting of the veg and a dash of cream! Warms the bones!! Yum
Parsnip, cumin and thyme soup topped with toasted hazelnuts, garlic & saffron olive oil and nigella seeds. Warming me up whilst snow starts to fall here in London! This recipe is so so easy and if you swop the chicken stock for veggie then it’s vegan too.
Ingredients (part 1)
• 4 large parsnips, peeled and chopped
• small handful of fresh thyme (also some oregano in mine as #balconygarden
is low on thyme)
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• salt and pepper
• 1 tbsp cumin seeds
• 1 bulb of garlic sliced in half horizontally (mine is from the Isle of Wight garlic farm)
Method (part 1)
Coat all the ingredients in the olive oil, put in a tray and roast in the oven for 20 mins at 180 fan.
Ingredients (part 2)
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 2 small potatoes peeled and diced 1cm cubes
• 1 large onion diced
• 1 organic chicken (or veggie if preferred) stock cube
• 1 handful of hazelnuts toasted for 5 mins in a skillet and roughly chopped after
• 1 tsp nigella seeds
• drizzle of garlic & saffron olive oil
Method (part 2)
Whilst the ingredients from part 1 are roasting in the oven, put a large saucepan on the stove and warm up the 1 tbsp olive oil. Add the onion and cook for 5 mins until starting to soften. Then add the potato. By now the other bits and bobs in the oven should be ready! Add everything except the garlic to the pan. Then when cooled a bit, squeeze the roasted garlic out of its skin and put straight into the pan too. Stir everything together. Then crumble the stock cube into the pan and add enough water to cover all the ingredients. Season. Put a lid on, leave on a low heat for about an hour. When you come back, just blitz with a hand blender until smooth. Check the consistency and add a bit of water if too thick. Serve it in bowls topped with the toasted hazelnuts, garlic and saffron oil and nigella seeds. Suggest you serve with some bread on the side if you’re extra hungry 😋. Comforting? ✅ Seasonal? ✅ EASY AS PIE? ✅

Piefection! Snowy nights like these - if you can call what London’s trying to do snow, that is - call for the most warming of warming winter foods. I left the filling for this steak and ale pie slow cooking aaallllll day so by the time I assembled it the meat had that glorious melty quality to it. I always make my steak and ale pie with @hobgoblin_beer
I mean, is there any other worthy? 🍻🥧
[Charing Cross] Afternoon tea as a pick me up while exploring the city during these short winter days. Do you have a favourite afternoon tea layer? Mine is a difficult choice between scones and cakes, especially if the scones are fresh and warm. @amba_hotel_charing_cross
