Take the time to invest in yourself daily. Life is stressful. And as a mom it's so easy to put everyone and everything before yourself. There's always something that needs to be or someone that needs something. But taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's 100% necessary. For me it's getting my readings in, getting at least 30 minutes of alone + quiet time when I first wake up, and working out. Moms don't forget to put YOU first. ✳️Thursday’s are for throwbacks right?? ✳️ Well, it’s been a while since I’ve shared one, and for just cause of course. Lately I’ve not been very proud of where I’m at. Here’s a few throwbacks, one from the VERY beginning in 2013, a few from 2015, then the very last one being like....last week I think lol .... 2013 was the year I decided I was going to begin my fitness journey, the year I picked up weights for the first time; this was when I realized that it wasn’t all about hanging out on those cardio machines for an hour to sweat as much as possible. .... I got serious about it, addicted even, found a coach to work with in 2014, by May of 2015, I was the leanest I’ve ever been, I had veins poppin’ and my abs were visible....I was tiny tho...although abs are cool....I missed food (and 90g of carbs a day leaves a thick-at-heart girl, very cranky) .... I began to reverse diet, building up muscle, about a year after that I decided I wanted to try Powerlifting. I loved lifting, and I loved to lift heavy, bench was (and still is) my favorite. So I went that route with my journey. .... I explained in a few posts back, the reason why I began to stray a bit from my fitness, divorce, work, Kids, new love, just life in general. .... But this is a “journey” right? There might be detours and we might take a few wrong turns before correcting our course of direction and getting back on our paths. .... It’s a bit embarrassing to share these honestly, because I’m not ripped and cut and shredded like I was 3 or 4 years ago, I never stopped lifting, but I admittedly indulged a bit more than I should have in the worst kinds of foods. .... We all have our stories, our lives are all a little different and will present different sets of challenges and obstacles, yes, we will fall and we will not always stay on track, but it’s getting back up and dusting ourselves off and continuing fighting that matters and where winners come from. So Don’t give up, don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t where you once were or where you want to be. Enjoy the journey 💪🏼💜 #LoveTheStruggle #DontGiveUp

For many people, the gym can be intimidating - when you’re a beginner, it’s a place full of equipment you’re not sure how to use and people who look fitter than you. Grunting bros and skinny chicks smiling away on the stair master can be intimidating or off-putting. .... .... If you’ve been off your gym game for a while, it can be hard to return to the gym. You feel weaker than you were and can’t lift the same weights you used to. It’s discouraging. ... But the gym should ALWAYS be a place where you try to get better. It’s a place to build strength and confidence. A place to test your limits and to push past them. It’s a sanctuary from the BS going on in the rest of your life. Some gyms are a community where you find support to chase after your goals. .... The gym should NEVER be a place to punish yourself for eating pizza and ice cream. And it’s not a place where you go to “earn your food,” either. ... For me, the gym is a laboratory where I test my strength and skills for the sports I love to do outside in the mountains. ... ... 🤔 What’s the gym for you? This is the point in my vacation where my body is feeling it. I’ve eaten less than ideal, partly due to less than healthy options close by. Partly because my favorite restaurant (Hard Rock Cafe) is here, and I don’t have one close at home. And largely because my body just swells and stays puffy from the moment I get on a plane going on vacation, until a day or two after I get off the one coming home. So although I was tired this morning, and will get about 8 hours (at least) of non-stop walking today at Disney Land, I still wanted to get in a workout. I did my 30 minute strength training workout today, because it didn’t involve a lot of floor work, because...public gym floor. And yes, the hubby has been working out right along with me every day. The last frame you’ll see him lay day for overhead extensions. Why? Because Fitness just makes us better.

[ ➕ SELF AFFIRMATIONS ] _______________________________________________________________ Positive self affirmations are everything. These are constant reminders that “You can, you will, you got this, it’s yours.” My homies @mr._astillero , @jejfitpro and I had this chat the other day about locking-in before getting ready to lift heavy weight. It’s funny how after the earphones are in along with music blasting, adrenaline rushing and muscles tensing, the affirmations flow out of the mouth. . It’s the “Let’s go. Lift this sh%t. You got this. Bang it out. Lock in. Push hard. Dig in. Let’s roll.” Followed by an authentic Braveheart-like battle cry leading into the reps. The reason behind these positive self affirmations is to remind yourself that YOU CAN. Sure, other people can tell you that you’re capable and that, “You can do it.” But when they aren’t around to provide encouragement and motivation, it’s all up to YOU! . You have to believe that you can. You have to know that you will because at the end of the day we only have ourselves. Positive self affirmations don’t just take place in the gym. When you wake up, look your handsome or gorgeous self in the mirror and remind yourself, “It’s going to be a great day. I’m going to crush this. I can get through this. I will be great today.” Whatever positive reinforcement you feel and need at that present time and moment, remind yourself. . . CUTLOOSE & BE ➕
