"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." - Buddha
I tried to recreate the PAST by spending too much time and money working out with personal trainers that didn't come even close to the level of knowledge, commitment, and sheer awesomeness as @gocoachclare.
I had to cut my losses after giving a good amount of time and money to something that didn't deliver the joy, satisfaction, or results I was looking for.
I tried to focus on the FUTURE and getting back into triathlon by talking a whole lot about wanting to ride my bike and taking a swim in the gym's fancy pool. But it has been just that - all talk and no action. The longing is there, but the doing is not. Apparently, I'm not ready to get back to it just yet.
So, instead I focused on THE PRESENT MOMENT. What do I need and want right now? I need scheduling flexibility and weekly goals. I want to sweat! I want to feel sore! I want my workouts to be social (on a small scale) and I want to feel that someone is holding me accountable for showing up. Similar to triathlon, I want to feel like I'm part of a team.
My gut was telling me I could find what I was looking for in Team BURN classes at the gym. So, after weeks of grappling with breaking up with my trainer, I finally took the plunge to do what was best for me in the present moment. Enter week one - three Team BURN classes complete! It's only been three workouts, but I am 100% sure this is exactly what was missing for me in the present moment.
Simultaneously, I've signed up for Lifetime's 60 Day Challenge. My #1
goal over these two months is consistency with my workouts. It doesn't matter how many times we've fallen off the horse. It matters how many times we get back on. And I'm back in the saddle again. Consistency = habit = success. Success *is* mine. And you know I'm going to share it with you, primarily to hold myself accountable! But also to hopefully encourage someone out there in social-media-landia to get back on that horse just one more time. We can ride together. And if you feel like you might fall off again, I'll help steady you, if you promise to do the same for me. 😉
