🔥Pressing Warm Up 🔥 . 🚫!stop!🚫 let me ask you a question... . Are you one of those people who find themselves moving your right shoulder in circles while you hold it with your left hand because it hurts? . Do you feel like your shoulders click whenever you press? . If this is you, then you need to try this warm up! . Look, if you’ve had no direct injury to your shoulder, and it hurts, you SHOULD be able to solve the issue yourself... . Start with how you prep your body for pressing! . The phases 👇🏻 . 1️⃣ Foam roll lats (SMR): 75 sec each lat, oscillate on adhesion, arm sweep 2 passes on adhesion. . 2️⃣ Side Lying Pec Opener (Bi-Phasic Stretch): 5 reps each side, 2-3 sec hold when opening pec. . 3️⃣ Quadruped T-Spine Rotations (Corrective): 10 reps each side, stack the joints, cue abs and glutes. . 4️⃣ @drjohnrusin 3 way banded shoulder series (activation): band pull aparts, shoulder dislocations, and face pulls. 2x10 each. . 5️⃣ Eccentric pushups (pattern development): 2x5, 2-2-1-1. FOCUS ON TEMPO. . 6️⃣ Speed Jax + MB slams (CNS Stim): 3 Jax + 1 slam. Don’t go too heavy on ball. Repeat five times. . 🔑 is to figure out your linchpin. Are you pecs right and pulling your shoulders forward? are your lats tight and limiting ROM overhead? Once you find them, focus in on them during the warm up. . 🚫 avoid spending more than 10 minutes warming up. Get through it, and start lifting. It should only go 12-16 min if you have some serious limitations. . Are you warming up properly for your workouts? Warm ups and cool downs tend to be the first things to go when you’re short on time - trust me, I’m guilty of this, too, from time to time! . . BUT, getting your body prepared for a workout is so important, so even when I’m short on time, I run through a few rounds of my favorite dynamic movements, as shown in this video. . . ➡️ Start in your yogi squat and move/sway to open up your hips. This move is challenging, but the ultimate goal is to get your shoulders stacked over your hips and keep your chest proud. . ➡️ place your hands down and lift your hips up to wake up your hamstrings. . ➡️ after a few rounds of the first two movements, add on your plank walkout to push-up, or ‘inchworm pushup’ ➡️ after your push-up, bring your right foot to the outside of your right hand and then rotate towards your right knee and extend your right arm to the ceiling. Repeat on the left. ➡️ walk your hands back to your feet, keeping your legs as straight as you’re able. . . Don’t fret if you feel like you’re not flexible enough to do these as demoed in this video - flexibility comes with practice and time (I also just happen to be naturally pretty flexible 🤷🏻‍♀️), so give it a shot and see how much flexibility you gain when consistently adding these to your warmups! . Today was one of those days- a 0degree day that feels like -10, and when these days happen, I’ll be honest with you- i panic. I don’t like the sensation of being cold (I grew up in florida) so I grab everything in my closet that is black or gray and I put it on. All at once. And then I can barely move. Each day over the past week, I’ve been getting somewhere between 1-3 messages from people wanting to know what my secret was. The secret is... there is no one secret. There’s no quick fix. It’s truly a lifestyle change. I’m sure you hear that all the time. I used to roll my eyes at the same words, but never really understood what it meant until now. . . . Why is it that we focus social gatherings around unhealthy food or alcohol? Constantly eating out and going out for drinks was my biggest weakness. Sometimes you have to be selfish and decide where you’re going to spend your time, who you’re going to spend your time with and what you are going to invest your money in. I couldn’t afford to live both of these lifestyles, so I decided to be selfish, with good cause. . . . Over the past weekend, I failed to prepare myself for success. I didn’t meal prep, I slept in to my heart’s content and I didn’t have a set time to work out. As you can imagine, I woke up hours later than I usually did, scrambling to take my vitamins and drink my smoothie on time and before I knew it, it was already lunch time… then already time to work out and guess what? I was too full from my late lunch to get moving. I really realized the importance of routine this weekend and literally building these things into your routine. . . . I use phone alarms to help me with this. I set alarms for AM and PM vitamins and any other kind of daily medication, Google calendars for personal training sessions, reoccurring calendar events for the weekly yoga classes I attend plan my meals ahead of time (so that I can utilize all of my groceries before they spoil and not run out of food in the fridge). . . . Take some time today to set yourself up for success this week… You’ll be thankful you did! 😉

💪 I said I was going to work on strength training this year. And after being sick for a week, it is GREAT to be back at it 💪 . 1 mile warm up (9:10) 🏃🏼‍♀️ . Then superset for Arms, Chest, and Back💪 3x10 Bicep curls and Hammer curls, 3x10 Chest press and Pushups, 3x10 Tricep Dips And Chin UPS 💪 . Ending with a 1 mile cooldown (11:10) . . 🔥 Deadlift Warm Up🔥 . This weeks videos kick off with preparing the body for deadlifts! . In a previous post, I spoke about some benefits of preparing the body for movement. . Let’s review... . 1️⃣ prep the body for performance 2️⃣ increase circulation 3️⃣reduce injury . The series of warm ups I’m going to be posting this week are centered around @drjohnrusin 6-phase dynamic warm up series that I learned at the certification this past December. . This warm up is designed for deadlifts and focused on the adductors. . The phases 👇🏻 . 1️⃣ Foam roll adductors (SMR): Break the adductors into 3 sections, 25 sec each. 🔑pay attention to how I oscillate on any tender spot . 2️⃣ Groin rock (Bi-Phasic Stretch): 2x5 each side, and 3 sec hold in bottom. 🔑only go as far as you can while avoiding pelvic tilt . 3️⃣ Tactical Frog T-Spine Rotations (corrective): 2x5 each side. 🔑 is to cue glutes/abs, and move SLOW . 4️⃣ Banded hip thrusts (activation): 2x10. 🔑 cue the rib cage down, hold each rep for 2 seconds . 5️⃣ Banded RDL (pattern development): 2x5, 15 sec rest in between sets 🔑 is to accentuate the eccentric (3-2-1-1) . 6️⃣ Horizontal depth jump (CNS Stim): 5x1. 10 sec rest in between each. 🔑 is to not Do this if you have no idea how to jump, and do explosive seal Jax instead. . Keep in mind this will likely you take you a little longer when first learning it. . You should be able to get through it in 8-10 minutes once you got it down. .
