The bask story bit:
"The TIE Retriever was designed to recover adrift escape pods and other valuables following space battles. Their small size and high manoeuvrability made them much more effective than a capital ship's tractor beam which was liable to drag large amounts of useless space junk aboard along with its target. Despite its impressive performance record, the imperial practice of treating its personnel and material assets as disposable saw the craft in limited use. Many were even converted into TIE-Bombers to felicitate the Empires preference for attack rather than conservation.
