RIP Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. ❤️😰 I remember as a little kid, going through my parents record collection one album after the next. It shaped me as a person, those months in the dark basement with my headphones plugged straight into my Pop's turntable. I was enthralled with the vast, genre-spanning collection of music. Box after box after box. 📦 One album that I became completely stuck on during that time was Aretha Franklin's 1968 "Lady Soul." I sat there stunned, playing it over and over. The song "Chain of Fools" was one of the tracks on that project, and I LOVED IT. And from there I found more Aretha records, and added her name to the huge list I was making of "musicians to research." That was in the autumn 1989.
Fast forward to April 2018, at the Fairview Pub. @ripple_illusion
is killing it up there and they were so cool to ask if I wanted to sit in for a song. Of course I would. And what do we play? Chain of Fools, by Aretha Franklin. I was beyond thrilled. I remember feeling so good getting to play that song. So tonight I raise my glass to the wonderful Aretha Franklin. I greatly appreciate the art and legacy she has left on this Earth. ❤️🐾🌌 Thanks for letting me join you guys for this special moment @caroline.allatt
