Acorn squash and shrimp. - Bake acorn squash for 30 min at 350 degrees. Marinate shrimp(about 6 large) in lemon juice(1-2 tbsp)and coconut aminos(1tbsp). Sauté half an onion in avocado oil for about 5 minutes, then add shrimp, salt and coconut milk(3 tbsp). After the squash is done cooking, scrap out the inside and add it to the shrimp mixture. Replace into the acorn squash skin after cooking for about 5 minutes. Seasoned with dried parsley. #wildcaughtshrimp

So I talk a lot about my anxiety/eating disorder recovery, but something I’ve only vaguely mentioned is my stomach aches💥, insane bloating🐡, fatigue 😴+ recently, acne 👎🏼. I’ve had gastrointestinal issues for as long as I can remember and I mainly blame it all on the wear + tear I put my stomach through during the peak of my disorder. Over the last few months, I’ve also experienced a breakout on my jawline/under-chin area that won’t go away for anything. ✖️ Let’s just say I’ve had enough + after tons of research, I’m ready to let science + pure, NATURAL ingredients take over. 🌿🥑🧪 . . . Love my Monday’s! It feels so good to be back on schedule. Last week I had to take two rest days and it threw me off. The holidays have me running crazy so I’m making sure to take care of myself ————— I don’t know about you guys, but my autoimmune body thrives on predictability. Over the years I have found what works best for my body and I make sure to stick to it as best as I can. Life can be so chaotic and unpredictable, but as long as I get my workout in, rest, and make my nutrition a priority I notice a huge difference in how I feel and function ————— I hope everyone is having a great start to the week. I really like this one because this entire week, I’ve constantly been wondering WHY I’m not getting better if I’m taking all these antimicrobials, supplements, nystatin etc. i mean I thought I WAS getting better, until my symptoms started reverting back recently. it’s been 6 months since working with a functional medicine practitioner, yet I almost feel like I’m getting worse. Almost two years ago, I decided to say “goodbye” to my comfort zone. I started walking towards hope and healing but it was hard. Sticking to this weeks leaky gut theme - here is an excellent dish to make yourself to help promote healing from the inflammatory effects of having a leaky gut, the collagen and gelatin in bone broth help to support the intestinal lining. (You can also try fermented foods to promote the replenishment of good bacteria in the gut). • We made our bone broth into a soup to make it extra palatable! • Here's how we made it; • Ingredients - 1 chicken carcass – 1 cup chopped carrots – 1 cup chopped leeks – 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar – 3-4 sage leaves – 2 bay leaves – 2 sprigs fresh rosemary – 1/2 tsp dried thyme handful fresh parsley – 1/2 tsp sea salt – Enough filtered water to cover the bones. • Method 1. Preheat the oven to 375 F. 2. Place the bones in a crock pot and add the rest of the ingredients. Set the crock pot to low and cook for 48 hours. Skim the top off the broth every now and then. 4. After 48 hours, strain the bones while keeping the veg in the pot, then use a handheld blender to blend into a soup (or leave chunky if you prefer!) 5. Store in a glass tupperware in the fridge. Last night was the first in several months that I tried to add organic white rice back into my diet without getting what I call "raccoon eyes" (eczema). I'm feeling very grateful!!! I've had many small victories (and some big ones like healing my headaches, UC and getting to a normal weight) as I choose to heal through following a nutrient dense diet. I'm on day 88 when it comes to taking a gut healing low histamine probiotic and I change them out to keep a variety of good bacteria coming in. I haven't had an o-t-c headache pill in over 14 months and that tells me something! Healing the gut is key to healing the rest of your body. Healing is not a 50 yard dash, it's a looooong marathon of making good choices in many areas of your life and food is just one of those things. Die off reactions. . Back in September, I decided to print a monthly calendar and track any abnormalities, reactions, positives, whatever that stuck out to me. . Ever since I started taking nystatin and other supplements to kill yeast and parasites two weeks ago, I’ve been (excuse me) SO BITCHY. I’ve been having headaches, anxiety, I’ve been feeling depressed, low energy, really sad, and eventually those feelings of hopelessness caught up to me. No joke, on thanksgiving day I cried when I realized the chicken my mom cooked specifically for me was left out on the counter for hours and was never put away. (I get paranoid w poultry bc of my history of h pylori, now parasites, etc). And so I angrily threw it out and cried. Looking back, again, not sure if that was just me being me or if it was just my heightened mood from die offs, but I cried. Over chicken. Well, i think it was also all my emotions built up and spilling out. I think trying to be “positive” and grateful during the holidays despite how upset I was with my health in general, I think my emotions caught up with me and they just spilled. . DIGESTION 💥 “All disease begins in the gut” - Hippocrates ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If I detect any imbalances in the digestive system I always stress the importance of healing the gut first, before moving on with other system focused care. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The following is a list of things that are common but not normal: - Consistent bloating after meals - Abdominal pain - Chronic diarrhea or constipation - Feeling like you need to nap after a meal - Heartburn or Acid reflux or Ulcers ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ SIBO - I did a post on this a while back, and I will be making an in depth video on it soon. Common symptoms include bloating after meals, abdominal pain, excessive gas, alternating consistency of stools, fatigue and skin concerns. My favourite raw vegan gut healing breakfast... homemade coconut yogurt with blueberries 😊 I want to share a little bit about me and my journey thus far... Maybe it will give some context/ perspective of my healing journey! I'm 20 y/o and was a premature, caesarean section baby, never breast fed. I've had chronic bacterial infections my entire life including 5x tonsillitis and 10x UTIs all in the space of 3 years. In the past 4 years I've taken 13x week-long rounds of broad spectrum antibiotics for various fungal and bacterial infections and it's destroyed my digestion. I found raw vegan fruitarisnism and was dead set on it being the perfect diet, and still am to a degree. But my gut health isn't strong enough to tolerate fruits.
