India: Death Toll Rises to 7 in Ladakh Avalanche
This video was taken at Khardung La pass in Ladakh, India, on 18th January. It shows the ongoing rescue operation after the avalanche.
An avalanche trapped 2 tipper trucks carrying 10 people at Khardung La pass on Friday. Khardung La pass is one of the world’s highest motorable road at 17,500 feet.
2 more bodies were recovered from the site of the avalanche, raising the death count to 7.
The rescue teams have been battling harsh terrain and extreme weather conditions, with temperatures dropping to -20°C.
The trucks were buried 20 feet deep in snow and mud, nearly 800 m from the pass.
