A Tale of two Journeys~
- In 2015 I embarked on a journey for weight loss & health. January to April was by diet alone with 1100 calories a day, low fat, clean eating. By April I needed to add exercise because my weight loss had stalled.
I added a cardio class, Bokwa, to my schedule and worked & sweated my butt off 5 classes a week. I had shin splints for the first two months because of all the jumping and kicking etc. I worked through them and didn't give up. My weight loss continued consistently. Did I do cheat meals/days? Heck yes! Then, at the beginning of November, after losing 84 lbs, my class was cancelled and I couldn't find another just like it. I preferred THIS exercise class and then I had nothing. Just the clean eating. BUT I was always STILL hungry!!!
Needless to say, without exercising, and finding no other cardio class I enjoyed, the weight returned and rather quickly. I gained back nearly all the weight I had lost except 16lbs. 🤦🏼♀️
I tried a few more times to get back into "my zone" but failed each time.
- In 2018, I began the SAME journey again. I did it before, so I figured I could absolutely do it again. Clean eating again with low fat and 1100 calories per day. Veggies, fruit, Greek yogurt, chicken, fish and more chicken. Yup, STILL HUNGRY!!! I started seeing IG folks on Keto, I slowly researched and stalked a bunch of IG accounts. 😏
By end of February I made the decision to put my Keto toe in the water and give it a try. I did NOT cold turkey my carbs. I decreased each day until I was below 10 carbs a day into my 3rd week of Keto. I've been Keto ever since! High fat, protein and low carbs. Did I mention I'm NOT hungry?! Do I cheat at times? Heck yes!
______I do ZERO exercise. I'm lucky to get over 3,000 steps more than 3x a week. I'm NOT bragging that I don't exercise! I did it on purpose! I wanted to see if Keto really worked and was sustainable as I got older because exercise may not always be a priority as I age. (Con't next post) #keto #ketoliving #ketodiet
