3 things that have no place in my life and career: 1. Self doubtโœ–๏ธ 2. Over-thinkingโœ–๏ธ 3. Putting myself in a boxโœ–๏ธ I watched a keynote speech from one my Training favourites and (letโ€™s be honest, idol) @kaisafit at the NASM summit today. What was supposed to be a bit of internet surfing turned into the inspiration I have been craving. There is a reason why the people you look up to (even if you have never met them) become that person. It became quite evident while watching her speak that we share the same views and have struggled with the same โ€œconflictingโ€ views as a trainer/coach. I have tried to create the โ€œperfect programโ€ for every single client I have ever trained. Some days they walk into a session and the last thing they need is โ€œday 2, program 3.โ€ As a coach, I love that I am able to read into this and give my clients what THEY need on that day. There was a time, however, that I wasnโ€™t sure if I was doing this trainer thing right though. I have never been ALL about weight loss/fat loss because I truly believe that if you start to move your body on a regular basis your life becomes happier and brighter- weight loss and fat loss wonโ€™t give you that- but they will likely be byproducts of this new-found happiness. Thatโ€™s why you donโ€™t see clients โ€œbeforeโ€ and โ€œaftersโ€ on my webpage. I have always approached fitness and moving your body as a โ€œlife enhancement.โ€ I see it every day I train myself and every day I train my clients. Iโ€™m so glad I stumbled upon this video today. It lit a fire to continue to coach they way I do and approach movement as a means to a happier, healthier, more enjoyable life. Thanks Kaisa ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Holiday Challenge W1D1: I'm trying a new workout this holiday season in an attempt to combat the usual post-Halloween to New Year's slump: @kaisafit Kaisa Keranen's 6 Week Holiday Challenge. It's five 30-minute workouts a week with bonus nutrition coaching through @arivaleteam. It's a mix of circuits, strength training, and functional movement that will hopefully be novel enough compared to my usual straight lifting plus cardio routine to keep me motivated. INSANE UPPER BODY HIIT CARDIO CHALLENGE! >>SWIPE FOR VIDEOS!! << Inspired by the amazing @kaisafit 1, jumping split resistance band chest press. Either 10 to 15 reps per side (switching leading legs) or 40 secs either side. 2, Floor press to narrow grip press. Feet up in box position to engage your core (for extra beast mode, balance a weight plate on your shins for even greater core activation. 3, Burpee press up box jumps. Try to only allow your feet to tap each placement once, no pausing! Also try executing the press up as part of the descencion into the burpee. 3 to 5 rounds depending on your fitness level. (I had alot of customers asking for a cardio /HIIT style circuit but more for upper body, so try this badass one) PLEASE SHARE THIS! Sandbag workout! Pair these two moves with my video below (more sandbag moves) for a killer sandbag challenge. Time yourself! One minute for each round for three rounds and see if you can increase your reps each time! If you donโ€™t have a sandbag, use some dumbbells or ๐Ÿ“šbooks or really whatever youโ€™ve got on hand. Day 31! Woohoooo officially this is the last day of theOctober Just Move Challenge by @kaisafit ! Canโ€™t believe I managed everyday. Today I decided to do just 20 minutes so 2 and a bit rounds of the workout. I was also fighting off mozzies who were trying to show me some extra, unwanted, love. I think because my body has been sore since the weekend and I smashed out the last two days workouts that today I decided to not push it or go too crazy. Iโ€™ll be continuing to workout but not sure Iโ€™ll be posting about it daily or making these time lapse videos anymore - these were more for my accountability during the challenge but who knows I may do them from time to time. I will be posting on Sunday with my body scan results to tell you if there has been any change so thatโ€™s exciting - Iโ€™m looking forward to seeing! The month is so almost done!! Day 30....boom, smashed that out! Felt great even if a little tired but getting used the 4am workouts! Iโ€™ll keep going all week until my Mum arrives on Saturday. So today, Day 28 consisted of lots of moving and being outdoors! First I rode to do a yin yoga class then I rode to the city to participate in Rat Race and then rode home. It was a good, fun day! Hopefully no further sunburn but it was a warm one. Day 27! I woke this morning and my body said no to a full on workout so instead I went for a bike ride....bumped into a friend and got a dash of sunburnt! Then in the afternoon I did the mobilise workout and a bit of yoga! Sometimes it is best to listen to your body and do what feels right. Tomorrow I have an 8km run with obstacles - I think inflatable so should be fun! Oh boy! I felt a bit sick this morning. I moved though and although I donโ€™t feel better, I donโ€™t feel worse! I got through 3 rounds of the pyramid workout so one round 8 reps, one 10 reps and one 12 reps! Sometimes you donโ€™t always feel like doing something and, granted, sometimes you shouldnโ€™t but it is probably a super rare occasion that you shouldnโ€™t. I like to stick with the rule that if I commit to something and say Iโ€™ll do it then I will. I will never let myself or others down when Iโ€™ve given my word. Well I was not feeling it today....I kind of dragged myself through this workout! I did ok but my enthusiasm was not there so much. I got woken up by a mozzie at 3:50am so that didnโ€™t help! Still, I feel good after doing it and am super happy I didnโ€™t let this mood get in my way. My motivation to do something thatโ€™s good for me and makes me feel great is strong. I was thinking of a hot yoga session today as well but Iโ€™ll see how I get on. Iโ€™ll ride my bike to work and maybe have a bit of a ride then! Just 9 days until my Mum arrives for a visit!
