Got shoulder pain when you reach up or when you perform overhead movements? - If so, train yourself out of pain with 3 simple exercises: - 🔑 Maintain band tension at all the times (spread the band > 5 inches apart) - 1️⃣ Banded External Rotation • With your elbow flexed and bands on your wrist, maintain tension as you spread the band apart (> 5 inches), HOLD that position for 1-2 seconds then slowly return to starting position. Perform 3 sets of 6-10 reps. - 2️⃣ Banded Front Raise • Add some weight using light dumbbells/kettlebell or small weighted plates. Again, as you raise your shoulder HOLD that top position for 1-2 secs and SLOWLY lower it while spreading the band (> 5 inches). Start with a light weight then progress higher doing 3 sets of 6-10 reps. - 3️⃣ Banded Overhead Press • With the same light weight and bands on your wrist, maintain band tension. Perform an overhead press. As you get to the top, hold that position for 1-2 secs then slowly lower it for 3-5 secs. Repeat. - Is this exercise for everyone? No. But it’s a good place to start. - If you have nagging shoulder pain as you perform overhead movements or trying to reach something from that kitchen cabinet, this #exercise maybe for you. - If your shoulder pain isn’t going away with these drills, a proper assessment to figure out the underlying problem maybe just what you need before you start any exercise program. - Until then, keep moving! . . . 🔥 TAG and SHARE this with a friend. TEAM, if you don’t already follow @kaisafit , rectify this immediately!! She is such an idol to me, upholds so much of what I believe and teaches me constantly! This interview on @shethrivesblog was excellent, and reinforced my belief that no matter how many coaches and trainers you have in this life, THE MOST important one is YOUR OWN BODY! Not how it looks, but it’s feels... Your body talks to you all the time, listen to it BEFORE it has to fall apart to get your attention. LEARN to distinguish between your EGO and your GROWTH. I was excited to train and party tonight, but my body-team has words to say about this and I realized tonight training is going mean gentle stretch time on the mat, a bath, and no party. I love snow. ❄️ and it here, this years first now. ❄️ and yes we still have the tree and decorations up. And it will be up for awhile 😊.
What can I say. Eggs really make cooking easy. Way way way easy. I do have quite a few recipes without and I and I love them but eggs make it easy. Did I say easy 😊. So I tried this Coconut Flour Belgian Waffles by @sandraseasycooking. They came out perfect. I used a bit more coconut flour and water since I pored 1/4 more flour (was finishing the bag with flour and was really intent of finishing it 😂) and added 1/4 more water to make sure I have the right consistency. I used water since I did not have coconut milk on hand and it was too late to make it but I added dried coconut milk. By the way, I use @terrasoul for my coconut needs and nuts and dates and many other needs. Love them. Very allergy friendly. So try them out.
Huge milestone - we are eating eggs. Both of us. This is amazing and the best part about not giving up or being upset on where we were a bit over a year ago. With a modification of GAPS, SCD and Paleo AIP diets we are healing our bodies. And guess what is my favorite breakfast? 🍳 I am over the moon. Also baby Nina is enjoying walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I am not there yet but the fact that our food choices expanded so dramatically since we started our healing gut protocols is just fantastic. So my heartfelt advice to you not to give up no matter what. Just accept where you are (its ok to be pissed off first but just for a bit) and with great hope follow your own heart. It will always, always, always bring you to what is your God given right - well-being. And it is abound. Much love for you there. Much love.

A little compare and contrast... growth is a fun thing to watch if you can capture it on film🤓Super subtle differences here but progress nonetheless. Left is from July 2018, my very first pull up ever in my whole life, took me a solid 4 months of consistent practice to get this. Right is December 2018, and so far I can do 6 strict pull ups in a row. I practice a little less often now, but pull ups will forever be a foundational movement to keep me capable at doing a million other awesome movements! #dohardthings #justmove !

Once upon a time there was a “I can’t decide which body part to train” kind of day… so it became a designated “crazy moves” day! We need to get back to having such days more often, otherwise a bodybuilding routine can get pretty boring 🤷‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here we got ourselves some arms, shoulders, abs, chest, back, quads, glutes and hammies....even the grip! Best thing about the last day of the year is that moment you take for self-reflection!😌 Of all the many many moments that have flown by in 2018 I am not remembering very many bad moments (cause we all know 3 kids can bring on a lot of ugly moments)- so I’m taking that as a win. But I’m reflecting on some bigger moments that have made me a better person today than I was yesterday. Top things I’ve learned in 2018: 💪🏼 @kaisafit has taught me I can do anything (literally) I put my heart and mind toward 🤸🏻‍♀️#handstands are empowering and so fun and I WILL get my #presshandstand in 2019 🏋🏻‍♀️#crossfit has taught me a million life lessons actually (how to do hard things, how to grow and improve in our most uncomfortable moments, “motion is lotion”, to set goals, and how to chip away and get through) and I’m excited to see what I learn at @crosstowncrossfit in 2019 🧘🏻‍♀️#sweatyogawlv (and all yoga) is a gift and is balance to my soul when the world around me is at its most chaotic and uncertain. Keeps me grounded and hopeful 🌎 #kindess is critical right now. My hometown was the most recent mass shooting site and the pain and hurt will never stop, but being kind, being a light, and loving others will always overpower the darkness 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣9️⃣ if you haven’t had that moment of #selfreflection Yet, do it right now!
