Most people go to islands to get away from the hustle and bustle and to do absolutely nothing but beach bum all day. But if you’re like us,chilling will probably be the last option ; since we (I) always want to make the best of our time in any place. So instead of lazying around in our beautiful resort (Samloem Laguna Resort), we asked them what activities can we do in this beautiful island and.. voila! Jungle trek to the old lighthouse 😬 . The trek starts of at the southern end of Saracen Bay and it takes about 1.5hrs each way to the lighthouse and back. It’s a fairly easy trek as the trails are already there and only one intersection about 2/3 rd of the trek which points to military beach. Once you reach the lighthouse, you have to pay $1/ person to climb the lighthouse and then witness 360 degrees views of the island 😍 But beware, the lighthouse keeper has 2 very friendly dogs and let’s just say this was the only picture I could take of the lighthouse while being calm 😑
Pro tips ✅Visit early during the day as it takes roughly 3 hours to do the trek plus additional time for climbing the lighthouse ( 5 floors) and soaking in the views.
✅ Wear comfortable shoes and not flip flops like me 😓Also wear comfortable cotton clothes as it’s hot
✅ definitely carry atleast a 1 litre water bottle/ person
✅ Carry $1/person to climb the lighthouse ✅ If you’re scared of dogs (like me ) then be very calm and try not to run or freak when they are close to you 😒 As you will be drawing more attention and it will get worse 😓😓 .

THE STRUGGLE WAS REAL!!! Whoa today’s hike pushed all limits as I tried to negotiate ancient tree trunks, slippery moss covered roots, stones over rivers, forging streams.
sinking sand & way more.. Absolutely loved it. #junglehikesforever
Knowing that you are walking ancient paths & seeing how life has been for millions of species for millions of years is a real humbling experience.
Last day in the jungle & back to Penang tomorrow. The Cameron Highlands have been such a wonderful experience.
Big shout out to @alexia_clark
without whose workouts strengthening my glutes & quads, would likely mean I may have needed to be air lifted out of the jungle today 🤣🤣 #jungletrek #jungle #challenge #fitoverfifty

If you're looking for the adrenaline rafting might be the answer. These guys spent some days in the jungle and are coming back home with style. Would you dare to try? 😱
After a two hour flight, 5 hour car journey and a 6 hour trek through the jungle I was lucky enough to meet Gantung the Orantang with her two month old baby in her natural habitat. What an amazing experience!! Please people think before using palm oil products. 😢😢 #sumatra #jungletrek #bukitlawang #junglelife

Nice jungle trekking route in Malaysia but we prefer offroad. That is where the real adventure begins 🐛
Ar tām man bija pirmā saskarsme.
Final day on trek with an early start tomorrow morning. Machu Picchu here we come!

My favourite view always has some palm trees 🌴 Haven’t finished posting my pictures from Malaysia that I’m already off somewhere else 🙊 another incredible island to explore this year for a very special occasion... you’ll see in my stories soon! Expect lots of palm trees, endless ocean views, underwater exploring, a bit of surfing and more... 🙌🏻🐠💕
The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less. ~ Joseph.J.Wirthlin
By conducting long term research and many site assessments, we were able to find a best practice location for the Cardamom Tented Camp.
In the near future, guests can find us on the outskirts of Botum Sakor National Park, settled into a natural clearing, with no tree cutting requirements and surrounded by pristine evergreen rainforest.
