500 Days of Summer (2009)
50/50 is one of my favourite saddest funniest films. The story follows Adam Lerner, played by the amazing Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is diagnosed with a malignant tumour along his spine and is told he has a 50/50 chance of survival from his doctor. His mother and best friend, played by Seth Rogan, react terribly to the news but support him through the entire ordeal. As he goes through this terrible thing you see his life kind of fall apart around him as well as what the chemo is doing to him on both a physical and mental level. However along his journey he meets new people who help him understand and accept what’s happening and you see a character relearn what life is about from the perspective of a man who may not get to live his. I’ve watched this film many times over the years. It always makes me reflect on what I think of life, and what I’d do in these circumstances. It’s a very touching movie, and although it at times is sad, it ultimately takes you to a better place where by the end of the film you’ll feel good about it all. Like I said, one of the saddest funniest films. And it is really really funny at times. Even amongst all the depressing things that are happening. It shines a humorous light on what is essentially a very dark moment. It makes light of a serious circumstance. Which makes it all so much realer. If you have not seen this movie, I strongly recommend you watch it ASAP and let it take you through a touching roller coaster ride of emotions, laughter, and just all around feel good moments. You’re welcome. #5050 #feelgood #comedydrama #dramacomedy #watchthis #recommendwatch #josephgordonlevitt #sethrogan #film #movie #comedy #drama #funny #sad #real #fuckcancer

“David Krumholtz, who plays Michael in the film, wrote a piece for Vulture explaining why he thought the movie worked so well. He stated the entire cast became fast friends. "Joseph Gordon-Levitt turned me on to Phish, and I turned him on to Wu-Tang," the actor wrote. "Gabrielle Union had us in stitches, Julia Stiles brought her own brand of SoHo-bred artistic intellectualism (at only 17, mind you), Larisa Oleynik's laughter filled the room, and we marvelled at the tonedness of Andrew Keegan's muscles (a great sport!)." Filming began without Heath Ledger, and the cast worried how his presence would change the dynamic. "This was a concern that was remedied a few days later, when he arrived and we found yet another comrade in sensibility. The group, with Heath, only got stronger. Before I knew it, the cast was experiencing what I've since found to be all too rare: a unified chemistry throughout the ensemble, without a single bad apple in the bunch. We all agreed that we were having the best summer of our lives."”

Batman: [in the interrogation room] Then why do you want to kill me?
The Joker: [giggling] I don't, I don't want to kill you! What would I do without you? Go back to ripping off mob dealers? No, no, NO! No. You... you... complete me.
Batman: You're garbage who kills for money.
The Joker: Don't talk like one of them. You're not! Even if you'd like to be. To them, you're just a freak, like me! They need you right now, but when they don't, they'll cast you out, like a leper! You see, their morals, their code, it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you. When the chips are down, these... these civilized people, they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve.
