In a few short weeks I’ll be #withmysisters
in Portland, Oregon and I CAN’T WAIT!
I’ve seen other direct sales ladies share about the bonds they have created with the women who are a part of their shared company and thought to myself, “Is that really real?” Not necessary because I doubt their intentions but because in this world we live in it’s really rare to find a community of people where you truly feel you belong. Especially in a job.
Our culture in the US for work environments used to be one similar to the family culture created in churches. Picnics, Holiday Parties and Community Service were what many experienced as business in the US boomed.
Because businesses knew a workforce that created belonging meant longevity, support systems and higher returns in investment. However, by the time I entered the workforce, the experience in corporate business was not that type of community. Of course there were picnics, parties and service but most of it, to be honest, was presented on the surface. It didn’t create belonging because the culture I experienced was more based on fear of community between workers not the latter. Culture in my corporate experience meant conformity.
We say at Sseko we are a different type of direct sales company... Maybe because of our unique DNA as an impact business empowering women set the tone for our culture as Sseko Fellows to truly feel like a family? Maybe because we are still a small direct sales company under 500 Fellows is why we are so close? And maybe, we have changed a script & started a movement for culture to mean more? I don’t know... I hope so, but to me, in what I’ve witnessed in business, Sseko is different. It’s real.
That’s something to be excited about sharing & to be excited about experiencing! With my Ssisters I belong!
