“Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World” "Years ago, I saw a photograph of a young boy in a collection of images from Life magazine. He sits on a stoop with his head thrown back, ecstatically hugging a new pair of shoes. I can imagine a young girl feeling that way about this book” Mary Roach, author of Gulp

"The Crucible" I love living in this old Pencil Factory. There is always something new to discover when you walk around here. You see old chimneys, walkways that connect the buildings, old safes in the basement, screws and bolds, and traces of times long forgotten. Just before I painted this, I found some old office chatter publications from 1927 from the old factory in the Public Library. You wouldn’t believe the things they used to write about colleagues and bosses . e.g., "Nellie tells us she is to be a June Bride, but she didn't mention what year" or "We'll have to order some new chairs for Florence, her weight has broken about all of them." Pretty Mean – I am glad that doing this in print is not acceptable anymore or at least not by people that have some decency and keep their fingers of the tweets. ⠀
Reading these things make me always wander off in my thoughts- all the stories that are part of these buildings. I find it fascinating.⠀
