Tomb Raider has #LaraCroft
working in London as a cycle courier after her father’s disappearance. When she discovers his notes, about the ancient power of life over death, she tracks him to an island where she must save him, raider the tomb and stop the bad guys!
To relaunch the #TombRaider
franchise, after the very messy Angelina Jolie films, the film studio has taken the 2013 reboot game, Tomb Raider that establishes Lara Croft’s origins.
But the studio must have really liked the game because there are massive scenes in this film that are shot for shot carbon copies from the game. This was a poor choice to make and is the main reason this film comes off as average.
The film has a strong cast of established actors, amazing sets and a skilled director, coming straight from his Norwegian hit, The Wave (2015). But the script is pants! Just absolutely garbage, and remember I’m trying to like this movie! There are 3 writers listed for this film but I’m guessing there was a lot of studio interference and the end screenplay was written in studio boardrooms where they just wanted a copy of the game.
It’s an above average film, that has some outstanding scenes. I really hope it makes enough money to warrant a sequel and the studio learns and improves.
