New wardrobe staple. Check. ☑️
I'm here to flaunt this item I just opened.
NO LIE, THIS IS THE COMFIEST SWEATER I HAVE EVER OWNED. 😭 and the design is so perfect. You rock @blissfullybookishtees
ladies! Also, can you please make some sweatpants or shorts so my wardrobe can be complete? 🙈 #lazybookworm
PS. I finished The Raven King and now I just have to give some time to Opal and my reread will be finished (about time)!
~We need to be bothered once in a while. How long is it since you were really bothered? About something important, something real?~
I am on a quest to read more classics! Admittedly, those aren't the books I gravitate towards, but I'm tired of pretending to have read classics when I haven't! I figured Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 was a good place to start, and I was not disappointed!
I loved the overall message of the novel. The government has created a society in which TV distracts and books are the enemies. By focusing on the 'threat' books offer, citizens ignore the real threat of war, and rising suicide rates. It is an incredibly prescient novel that is quite timely for our current moment. Now, I didn't love Guy, the main character; he made some pretty stupid decisions BUT he was trying to think his way out of the situation. I did find Beatty really interesting, but I still don't have him figured out. Finally, I didn't always love the prose, but I was all about the message.
It's a solid 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 read for me! My full review is on my blog (link in bio) This novel fulfilled my first #10book2filmchallenge
read...I am apprehensive about the HBO movie. Have you read this novel or seen the movie?

Emilia Lancaster is the royal family’s dirty little secret.
Born the illegitimate daughter of a duke, for twenty years she’s lived as a commoner… despite the regal blood running through her veins. But when the entire royal family is killed in a deadly attack, the line of succession swiftly changes course. With her ailing father appointed king and no legitimate heirs in sight, Emilia is pulled from the shadows and thrust into a destiny she never wanted.
If this were a fairy tale, the palace would be paradise. In reality, with a father she barely knows on the throne, a deadly assassin still on the loose, and enemies around every gilded corridor corner — the callous, captivating Lord Carter Thorne chief among them — it feels more like a prison to Emilia. One filled with unattainable expectations, unfamiliar customs, and undesirable suitors.
They want her to behave like a good little girl.
They want her to put on her glittering crown and keep her mouth shut.
They’re about to be disappointed.
She may have agreed to be their princess…
But she’s no one’s puppet. ♛

Every new year we’re presented with an age old dilemma of evolving or staying still. .
To evolve means to seek growth and continue building your upon your life and your character. To be ambitious and seek continual change in order to be mentally and physically chasing your goals. To repeat means to be complacent and repeat the same life cycles over and over again without wanting more for yourself or your family. If you’re not self aware, you’re likely to be facing the same challenges repeatedly without realising it. .
As we’re already 2 weeks into a brand new year and a brand new opportunity to level up and grow, which option will you chose? To evolve or repeat? let me know below. #newagemummy
School is hectic! I am working my butt off this semester because I want to do so much better than I have been. I have a lot of reading for my classes and so much work. But I love it! It makes me feel so productive and proud of myself. That is despite the fact that I’m extremely stressed and my depression has been getting worse, but I’m trying to work through it and it’s exhausting me.
I am so sorry that I haven’t been posting everyday. And I have been saying that in every post recently, but it’s true. I’ve only been on here since October and I’m already not posting everyday like I wanted to.
I’m gonna try to do better, but school does come first for me. I love bookstagram and all the people on here. The start of the semester is always the craziest, so hopefully I’m able to find a balance and get back to my regularly scheduled posting.
Question: do you count audio books in your reading goals? I haven’t had time to really sit down and read for pleasure since this semester started, but I’ve been using Audible to listen to the first Harry Potter book (for my class but I think it still counts).

I saw @sommerreads
post today that she hasn’t finished a book in 2019 yet, and I just want to raise my hand in solidarity 🙋🏽♀️ I’m about halfway through A Gentleman in Moscow, which is the first book I started on January 1st. Even though I’m really enjoying it, it’s been pretty slow going for me. I’m trying to take my time and be fully immersed in the story that’s being woven, but with work ramping back up and a busy semester looming ahead, I haven’t been picking it up a ton. It’s also just a pretty large book!
I’ve also been trying to be more aware of not just posting pretty stacks of books because my reading life is going a little slower. I saw a post sometime last year commenting on how pretty pictures of lots of books are great, but they would rather see what people are currently reading, even if it’s the same book over and over (if this was your post, I’d love to hear from you!). Also, @angelareadsbooks
has started the hashtag #notjustaprettybook
, which links to a bunch of great reviews and has made me think more about what I’m posting. During these slow reading times, I’d like to find a healthy mix of things to share. Until then, you’ll be seeing a lot of this book!
Have you been able to get much reading done this year, or are you feeling a bit stuck so far?
another reading playlist ✨✨ I’ve always liked associating songs/full albums with books and usually make individual playlists for specific books but this is kind of a mixed bag of a lot of diff songs I listen to when reading. it’s in general slightly different than the normal styles of music I listen to bc I think of it more like a soundtrack..am I the only one who does this? lolz anyway Spotify username is melanieee93 for those who want some background tunes 💫🗝🎶💣🔪📚

If you want to read a book that will challenge your views on sharing Christ with those around you - especially those from other cultures - I suggest you read this book.
Not only will it challenge your thoughts on modern “evangelism” but it will open your eyes to another way (perhaps, a better way) to share Jesus with those around us.
This week on #EyeCatchingCovers
... BLACK MOSES by ALAIN MABANCKOU
African colors with a black skin feed right into the BLACK part of the title, but there's still mystery here as demonstrated in the clash of MOSES and the Robin Hood -esque hat. What do you think? Did it catch your eye? What's your favorite eye-catching cover?
My beautiful but belated haul from a member event at @tatteredcoverbookstore
📚❤️ I’ve been wanting this t-shirt for awhile from there and can’t wait to rock it for my next marathon reading session! What’s your favorite bookstore and where is it located?
What’s your favorite retelling or retellings? ❄️
I thought our teachers would give us some slack at the beginning of term, but nooo... For the next four months every other book I’ll read will be written by an enlightenment philosopher! On a more positive note, I’m planning a 🌟 giveaway 🌟 around the time of my birthday, which is this Saturday (19th)!! 🌹
day 16 is “humpday (free post)” - I got the book in the picture before Christmas and it’s supposed to be a splendid retelling of Snow White! I’m really looking forward to reading it! ❄️
day 16 is “appreciate a dragon day” - Even though I adore Abraxos (wyvern/dragon) and the concept in Seraphina, Saphira (Eragon) will always be my favorite 🐉
The lovely @aka_bookblogger
tagged me to do the #icecreambooktag
a while ago. Thank you! 🌹
❄️ Lemon (a series you you don’t like): Red Queen. I’ve only read the first book, but it felt like a remix of almost every YA fantasy novel I’ve ever read...
❄️ Vanilla (a classic): Jane Eyre!!
❄️ Strawberry (sweet love story): Bridget Jones’s Diary! I love how relatable Bridget is, how perfectly imperfect Mark Darcy is and the general humor and warmth of the story!
❄️ Coffee (book that kept you up all night): Nevermoor by @digressica
QOTD: What’s your favorite retelling?
AOTD: I love Alice by Christina Henry, The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden and a couple of Helen Oyeyemi’s short stories in What is Not Yours is Not Yours. I’m also looking forward to reading Girls Made of Snow and Glass and Cinder!

Tell me a story of your youth,
as a woman of my age
in the old country.
Before answering the anxious young woman,
she allowed her mind to drift
onto the sunset that quietly tip-toed across the room
before resting humbly
on the window sill.
a woman without surviving family -
so she could
a woman who bore no children -
because she could not
a woman always taking note of her surroundings -
in the instance, it is ripped away from her
a woman who hides her scars -
so her past will not be revealed
a woman who works hard -
so there is no reason to be abolished
a woman who shares few words -
so that her chosen words show importance. …sitting in her favorite wooden rocking chair
she is flooded with memories of home.
It is the only piece of furniture to survive,
it is loyal, like an old friend,
the only thing she could bring with her
on that day, almost fifty years ago.
Gently rubbing her hands along the arms
remembering the day it had been crafted.
We didn’t have much, so anything new was special.
Her father had walked the whole of our property
to choose a tree, this chair was the last thing
he ever made for mother.
She gazed over at the young woman watching her
curiously taking in every movement she made.
How could she explain, actually put into words,
the story of her youth …
To be continued … ~Monica Reents

Eiii, eiii galerinha...
(Cena 1 - Tomada 2🎬 Escrevendo)
Karl é lindo, apaixonado, sarado, enigmático e esquentado (típico personagem raiz de New Adult)

Hello old friend. And hello Instagram. Apologies for the radio silence; been a bit of a week of it. My cat went missing over the weekend & then showed up on Tuesday (she's fine thankfully and on the mend), and a whole lotta life admin. Okay, and PLL bingeing. Let's be honest here. 😂📚

My favorite part of vacations is reading! I was happy to bring this collection of short stories from Alagaësia along with me to Tulum. The Inheritance Cycle was one of my favorite series growing up and I was happy to join Eragon and Shapira on their journey again. 🐲🤓📖
