In India if they say “mi casa es tu casa” they do everything possible to make you feel comfortable, make you feel at home. They're really receptive, as they've never seen my life. Even if you go to the home of poor people, they offer everything that they have, they have no limitations with that. They're very friendly, they're so proud to receive foreigners there, like for them it's like wow, they're very receptive to someone from another country in that aspect. India is very easy to make friendships, they are very open and talkative and very interested in knowing you, knowing where you're from, your history, there just very curious about our stride in life because it's different from theirs. After ten minutes of talking with them, even though you've never met them before in life, they invite you to their home because they want to show you their house, their family and everything else. I had a very good experience in this aspect, visiting people and staying in their homes.
In Rishikesh, I met these people on the beach by the Ganga River. They invited me to participate in a ritual that they had for a period for ten days in which they were restricted in eating many kinds of foods. They invited me to participate on the last day. After ten days with restrictions, they could eat everything that they wanted, so everything they could not eat during those ten days, they were able to on this day. This was very fun because everyone sat on the floors, as it is the tradition. They had to pray and make an offering, then afterwards in came a religious leader and they blessed everyone and prayed for each one of the seated. Everyone eats as much as they can for about two hours, and it was crazy because I had to eat a lot. You aren't able to get up after because you are really, really, really full. They started to bring food, and brought more food, and they never stopped until the last one said, “no it's okay, I can't eat anymore.” I don't remember the name of this ritual, but it was very nice to participate. I was very lucky being there on this special day.
