After his wife is murdered by a pack of religious nuts, a man sets out on a revenge quest.
This movie is insane. It’s a Nicolas Cage movie so do I really need to say more? I’ve gotta admit, he’s been pretty on top of things lately, with this and Mom and Dad which I really enjoyed. Mandy is your typical revenge flick seasoned with a weird religious aspect, even weirder characters, and a bizarre story that I couldn’t stop watching. It moves fairly slow for the first half (it’s 2 hours long) but I actually found myself enjoying the first half more than the second. The buildup was captivating and I was insanely intrigued by the way it was edited; lots of colors, similar to Spring Breakers and The Neon Demon. There was enough action and blood to satisfy me, with some of it even being comical. Speaking of comical, I wasn’t sure if the movie meant to be darkly funny until Cage’s character killed someone and then immediately snorted a mountain of cocaine.
As fun as the action was, I didn’t find it very original or refreshing. The kills were pretty average and nothing I haven’t seen before. Which isn’t a huge issue, it’s just something that annoyed me. The second half was less interesting than the first, as it ended up being style over substance. Again, not a big negative. There were also lens flares here and there which made things a little difficult to see.
Mandy is a hopeful return to form for Cage. I really like him as an actor and I’m glad he’s back making good movies. It’s a wild ride for sure and definitely isn’t for everyone, but if you want a gritty revenge flick with a good amount of bloody violence and ridiculous plot points, look no further.

TOM’S STAMP OF APPROVAL? ✔️
This was a bad movie. Sometimes there's something redeemable about a film but not in this case. The script was bad, the premise was ridiculous, the movie dragged on and on with barely anything happening. And for a movie about a REAL house that's 7 stories and filled with hundreds of rooms, I feel like I spent most of the time in the library and one hallway. Shame on them for reducing an Oscar winning actress into a one dimensional made for TV black widow cliche. I need to go watch #crimsonpeak just to feel better about the whole genre #Winchester#helenmirren#horror#scarymovie
I really loved 1st #hellhousellc it's so good I had to buy it off of Amazon to add it to my horror collection. The sequel does explain a few things from the first movie and I'm glad that they did. The only thing I didn't like from my 2nd viewing of Hell House LLC 2 is the ending felt outtake place but that is okay.
If they release this movie on DVD I'll definitely buy it for sure. Hopefully they'll be a sequel hopefully to see maybe the other side wink wink.
