New spot on our site: Moon Song Waterfall! This is a beautiful, cascading waterfall that runs seasonally. We recommend catching it after a good rainfall! More info on our site. Link in bio! #hiddensandiego
Beautiful hike amongst the historic El Capitan Reservoir. We have found many great secrets out here! #hiddensandiego
Thankful for long weekends.
Probably the funnest part of 3 Sisters Trail, scaling the path up to each of the pools. The sketchiest part? Coming down. 😬
Were heading North Sunday morning to Bernardo Mountain at 9am. The trail begins by crossing some water features then wrapping behind the rocky hillside until we reach the peak of Bernardo Mountain. This peak offers gorgeous views of Lake Hodges and boy are breath taking. Come see you for yourself! We’ll pair these views with some refreshing beers from @boozebros
and relax the rest of the day at their beautiful brewery

I’m telling you, she doesn’t belong. Not to one person, not to one place, not to one set of ideals. Her mind changed her heart, which changed her mind, and she was nothing, if not completely free. Maybe we’re just afraid of anyone who is constantly searching. And anything that didn’t clip her wings, or make her feel caged, was exactly where she was meant to be. You’ve got to respect things that aren’t afraid of going off path. She would always be the type to lose herself, trying to find her own ways. I suppose the river doesn’t compete with the earth. It carves its own path anyway. It doesn’t brag, or boast, or beat its chest. It just flows. And the moon doesn’t try to outshine the stars. It just glows. The flowers, amidst the trees, that radiate and create life - even all that, only grows. She wasn’t free because she knew where she was going, she was free because she didn’t need to know. ~ @j.raymond

Nice little hike today to keep myself moving. Kitchen Creek Falls wasn’t as full as I would like...Then again it was still raining! Just under 5 miles in under two hours and under 1000 ft elevation gain. Still awesome to see the place nice and washed!

After this week's rain I would say it's officially waterfall season! We have a great collection of all water-related hikes under the 'Watering Hole' section of our site. Pretty soon we'll be posting a new waterfall spot too so look out for it. Happy exploring and be safe! #hiddensandiego
Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world. #johnmuir
I am a proponent of finding oneself through the challenge of self-discovery. As John Muir explored the #Yosemite
wilderness, he brought with him his untethered presence to venture into the wilderness.
New paths represent a challenge to our will and desire to improve. Without confronting our fears, we cannot conquer our longstanding challenges that will bring us to greatness.
You must challenge yourself! Whether it is to get the body of your dreams, climb the mountain, or improve your nutrition, the challenge yields the reward.
I know it’s difficult to get started. You need to confide in a qualified mentor or coach for direction. I am proud to serve my fellow man in overcoming this starting inertia. The first step forward is how we pave the path to further success.
Remember, embrace the suck. Challenge yourself to be better everyday. If you’re lacking the mental or physical strength to get started, go for a hike. Leave your phone behind and instead listen to the sound of your breathing and footsteps crunching the dirt. Just like John Muir, we can find our greatest purpose in the embrace of the outdoors.

Can you spot the yogi?
Feeling tiny next to this beautiful giant! I definitely see a treehouse/studio/hang-space in my future 😍
It’s nearly impossible to find a solution if your mind is stuck in the problem. Come clear your mind and open your heart tonight at @solyogafit_
Hiking to Eichar's Grave in Rancho Penasquitos. John J. Eichar was believed to be a cook for the occupants of the Los Penasquitos ranch house in the late 1800’s which you can also visit. #hiddensandiego
Tonight I released something I’ve been meaning to release for forever.
It kind of reminds me of the 1st steps I took on the trails last year. Excited, relieved, 100 percent afraid of what might happen.
I’m a mess when I begin things. I get in my head and think of everything that can go wrong. I am doubt incarnate.
But every goal in the past 3 years has taught me the same damn thing, THIS moment, the first tangible step in the direction of your goal, THIS is the most important time.
So I’m happy to finally release this podcast, to finally let out what has been in my heart for far too long. Thank you to everyone that encouraged me to start on this journey. Ain’t nothing without y’all.
If you want to take a listen, the link is in my bio. It’s no more than 12 minutes, and it’s a simple offering in what I hope evolves into a complex study on life.
Shortly our 3rd music session will be revealed! Each time we take a different local musician to a hidden spot in San Diego. In the meantime, check out the 1st shoot we did with Native American flutist @iamlittlwolf
at Eagle Rock. The full video can be viewed on our site under the Music Sessions section. The beautiful cinematography you see was done by @stephenaherron #hiddensandiego
Enjoying the 360 view of the city from the highest point in San Diego! You can see downtown, the Pacific Ocean, and even Tijuana, Mexico. How cool is that?!
Where’s the last place you guys explored?

Who else loves hikes in the rain? You have the entire place to yourself and it's like a parallel world opens up that is otherwise never there. #hiddensandiego
New page added to our Wild & Edible section: Wild Acorns! Learn how to identify and properly cook with wild acorns. We made acorn cookies as an example. Recipe included! Check it out on our site www.HIDDENCA.com. Link in bio! #hiddensandiego

The problem with Instagram is that it will always be attached to a “my life is better than yours” stigma.
The “people we like stgma” as I love to call it. The ones with the solid aesthetics, the consistent messages, the technical skills we could only hope to achieve overnight that end up being years of hard work—they consume the IG sphere.
By no means am I popular. What? Do I have 500 followers and some change. And I post about hiking. That’s my thing. And yet every post I post, I hope that someone out there ISN’T thinking, “Damn, wish I could get out as much as he does. He has such a good life. What an adventurer” Because really, my feed is just as much a curated mess as the next person. My life isn’t great. It’s good, but no more than that.
I can only hope that by seeing these posts you become a tiny bit inspired to find the thing you want to do most. The thing that brings you love. The thing that hiking has brought me.
IG is a monster, like any other social media platform out there. Every like I get, I feel a tinge of happiness. But also, I hope that every like is someone saying, “Man, next weekend is my weekend, I’m moving forward, let’s do this.” I honestly think you can find your happy. And you’re almost there. But it’s all a theory. It’s all a thought. And if you made it to the end of this post, I hope your next day is the step in the right direction. You got this. Why? Because you’re so much more special than I am, so much more special than me 👏🏼
I often find inspiration in nature. I would guess that’s why I like to hike and why I often find myself itching to be outside.
The colors, the sounds, and the perspective change I experience while out there always keeps me wanting more. Nature speaks my language!
Started with an overcast sky. Was NOT expecting this at all.
Go. Get out there. Do things. Put yourself in situations to be surprised by the most random and satisfying events.
You’ll come across some amazing things when you choose to take a step out and let yourself be surprised by the randomness that is life. I mean. Look at this. Skyfire🔥
They always say to stop and smell the roses, but something that is equally grounding is making time to stop and watch the sunset. It's such an easy reminder each day how beautiful life truly is. #hiddensandiego
A shot of the Eagle Mine. This is the only mine in Julian that is open and operating for tours to the public. #hiddensandiego
“True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn’t care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied.” 🙏🏽
Running this train right off the rails- I’m ready to make some big moves in 2019. Chase your dreams. Be a little reckless. Let’s do this.
Sky above, earth below, and peace within. ☁️
I love this time of the year when everything is so ALIVE! It's a great time to get out in nature and explore. I'm really curious about next week though. Weather forecast is predicting 5 straight days of rain! #hiddensandiego
