Happy Presidents Day! It’s widely known, many US Presidents had odd sleeping habits, some slept a minimum of 4 hours per night! However many of them adored daily naps to recharge their batteries! A nap makes everything better, and a great pillow can allow you to get the most out of those power naps! . . . . . . #happypresidentsday #presidents #silverinfused #healthysleephabits #kapok #functionalfabrics #silveriteglobal

Could it be that dreams are made not of what we do but what we feel? Neurophysiological evidence now suggests that one function of REM sleep is to help process and store all the emotional content of your day against a more neutral emotional backdrop. Sleep can change the way you feel about a situation and actually make you less reactive to it the next day. So...go to bed angry! Want to know more? Head on over to the blog (link in profile). |Reading Routine| Adding a reading portion to your bedtime/nap routine is a wonderful add for our little ones. For our infants and toddlers, this becomes part of the routine thet they look forward to. For our preschoolers, it's a great opportunity to bond, learn and connect. I would add it as a step in their daily sleep rules chart so it becomes part of their routine. I would be specific on the chart of how many books you all read so that it does not become a stall tactic for bedtime of asking for more books. What are your kids favorite books to read right now? My #mella by #littlehippo . (@littlehipposays ) review (#notanad #realtalk #notsponsored #notsponsoredbutiwishitwas ). We have had Mella for a little over a week now. The verdict- it WORKS! #parentingwin 😁 🎉 We got “Mella” to help our son sleep in his bed alone, and stay in bed until a decent hour when the whole family (a.k.a. Mom and dad #pleaseletussleep #tiredmom ) were ready to wake in the morning. Our son instantly took a liking to Mella. He renamed him “Jackson” (kids have creative minds)! We talked about and showed him how “Jackson” would be sleeping when it was time to sleep, and green when it was time to wake up and leave the bedroom. Since introducing “Jackson”, our son has been sleeping through the night and not requesting one of us to sleep with him. He stays in his room playing until 7 when the clock turns green and smiles...and then our 3 year old runs into our room saying “Jackson’s awake!!!!”! We love this thing. #sleeptraining #sleepregression #amazonfind #readytowakeclock #readytowake #nomoreearlyriser #sleepin #parenting #moms #mom #momlife #mommy #momsbelike #healthysleephabits #managingthemcds #momsthatloop
How did I go from un unbalanced body + mind ➡️ jumping for joy on the beach? That's what I want to share with you over the next few days. If you missed my post yesterday, go check it out. 🏃‍♀️ • There is a lot of mindset 💭 work that goes into any kind of transformation, which is a big topic, so I want to start with something much simpler... • You probably already know this, but maybe aren't taking full advantage of it (I know I still work on it 🙋‍♀️). It's 💯% 🆓️ and is the most accesible resource for EVERYONE. It aids in hormone balance, fat loss, recovery, regulating body + brain 🧠 functions...the list of benefits goes on❗ • You guessed it: • 💤 SLEEP 💤 • I never full understood the importance of sleep until I never had enough of it, so my body started shutting down: I wasn't recovering the same, I had uncontrollable hunger + a lot of weight gain 😰 From not sleeping⁉️ Yes, there were other factors in the mix, but a huge component was that I was sleep deprived. • So before you go out and buy the next "fat burner" or beat yourself up for finishing off that plate of cookies 🍪 check in with your sleeping habits ✔ • Sure, some jobs dont allow for enough, shift work is REAL, and lives are busy. But, could you adjust your schedule so you can get an extra hour? Exchange half an hour of scrolling📱for some downtime? Maybe you can't sleep more, but you can incorporate a restful activity to your day (lessen stress, because not enough sleep is a stress to the body🙅‍♀️). • Here are 3 goals to work towards if you're lacking in the snooze 😴 department: • 1◻Aim for 7-9 hours/night 🌚 Anything less ⬇️ than 7 and you're probably missing out on some of those health benefits. 2◻Try to keep screen light off 🚫🤳1/2 an hour to 2 hours before bed, or to a minimum. Blue light tells our brain to turn off melatonin production (the 💤 sleep cue hormone). 3◻Thinking about that, 👆 try to create a space that's dark and cool for best quality of sleep. Your body temperature naturally drops when you sleep, so this helps us tell our body that it's time to rest. • • • Do you get enough sleep each night? Drop me a 😴 if you're working on this too! 👇👇 • • 📸 @alfonsolinaress
It always helps to have a little Dancing Juice before a workout. 😝 My favorite thing is that my pre-workout is all natural & makes me feel GOOD before, during & after I exercise. I know there are a LOT of options out there & a LOT of them have a LOT of crap in them as well as nasty side affects so it’s nice to be sure of what’s going in my body at all times. ✌🏼 Listen, I’m a mom, I work full time, I have side gigs, I NEED that juice! Beyond that, my sleep is a must - which means going to bed at a decent time especially on weekdays so that I can pop up at 5am and enjoy my morning of self-care. It has become sacred time to me each day & I’m super protective of it. Sure, sometimes life differs and I end up late and have to move the workout to the afternoon, but for me that means a total loss of that quiet morning time where it’s just me & my goals going at it together. 🙌🏼 FIND your time & MAKE it a priority, because if you don’t you’ll be giving a half-assed version of yourself to everyone that matters. 🖤 #selfcarefirst #itsnotselfish

Stages of Alzheimer’s - Signs of Alzheimer’s symptoms are often subtle at first. They start with slight memory loss, subtle changes in behavior, confusion and progress on from there. It is common to have one or two of these symptoms from a normal stressful life. For example, we all can forget where the car keys are and need to retrace our steps to find them, but those with AD have persistent and progressing symptoms. Those that are physically healthy (i.e.no other chronic disease is present) when diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, can live for up to 15 or even 20 years. - Mild – Early Stage: - 👵Problems coming up with the right word or name 👵Trouble remembering names when introduced to new people 👵Challenges performing tasks in social or work settings 👵Forgetting material that one has just read 👵Losing or misplacing a valuable object 👵Increasing trouble with planning or organizing - For FREE homeopathic recourses and homeopathic case scenarios, click the LINK IN THE BIO and join our FREE Facebook group. - - - - - - #viranginicindyhomeopathy #homeopathyworks #instahealthcare #homeopathicremedies #holisticremedies #homeopathyheals #healthconsultant #holistichealthandwellness #homeopathyrocks #ancientremedies #homeopathyforall #homeopath #naturalremedies #holisticliving #wellnessjourney #holistictherapy #wellnesstips #healthysleephabits #chronicillnesses #holistichealer #homemaderemedies #healthyremedies #healtheducation #coldandflu #thyroidhealing #seasonalallergies #homeopathic #homeremedy #holisticmedicine #wellnesscoaching
Everyone says that having a second baby is easier. They are more relaxed. You are more relaxed. You're not a new parent rife with insecurity and anxiety. ⁣ ⁣ That was not my experience. The first 4 months with my second baby came with feeding struggles, endless uncertainties, and weeks on end of next to no sleep. ⁣ ⁣ It is not easy revisiting those days. I did not like the sleep deprived ball of anxiety I had become. It was not a good mom moment for me. I share my experience for all those new moms out there that may be feeling lost in the trenches of newbornhood. Overwhelmed by both the monotony and unpredictability of each day. I hear you. I'm with you. You've got this!⁣ ⁣ Link to the blog post in my profile.⁣ ⁣ Re-post: You may have noticed that I am revamping my instafeed, so for the next little while I will be including some reposts to integrate them into the new look and feel. Chatting with a friend this morning who says he isn't sleep well and would very much so like to be in a better schedule. When I asked if it is because of work, he admits that it mostly has to do with lack of self-discipline with his phone... This is probably the number one response I get when an adult tells me about not getting great sleep - screens. • I always imagine that if people truly understood the importance of sleep and the effects that lacking the sleep you need has on your body and brain, short term and long term health, your physical and emotional health people would make it more of a priority. But that doesn't always seem to be the case. Our society has this mentality of "I can sleep when I'm dead." Or that "parenting just means years without sleep." This makes me cringe! Sleep is so important for you the parent AND your child. • Did you know that not getting the sleep you need across your adult life increases your risk of Alzheimer's disease? There is a direct link between decreased NREM sleep and this horrible disease. • Did you know that several epidemiological studies have shown that shorter sleep equals a shorter life? So sure, you can sleep when you are dead, but if someone lives with that mentality, he or she might reach that point sooner than desired. • If you have issues with sleep but want to make it a priority, please, read my post about creating a healthy relationship with sleep. However, please, note that if you snore or mouth breath, PLEASE, see your doctor. These are symptoms linked to sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. This means you might have more than just a behavioral issue on hand effecting your sleep. You might need medical assistance and that is out of my range of scope. Take care of it NOW for your health and to be there for your children once they are no longer children. • • • #normalizesleep #happysleeper #tiredparents #tiredmama #parenting #sleepisforeveryone #pediatrics #sleepbaby #sleeptraining #bettersleep #familysleep #sleepyhead #bedtime #earlyriser #naptime #healthysleep #healthysleephabits #healthylifestyle #familygoals #sleepyhouse #sleepissues #giftofsleep
NAP TRANSITION - 2 to 1// . . So your little one is 13-18 months(ish), has healthy and independent sleep skills, sleeps through the night, and has (until recently) napped twice a day for 1.5-2 hours each. . . Over the past week or two you have noticed she is now fighting at least one nap per day, maybe even avoiding one of them all together and just farting around in the crib. Maybe bedtime has all of a sudden become a battle. . . It’s likely time for the 2-1 nap transition. . . Similar to adjusting for daylight savings time, you’re going to slowly bump the first nap later and later, until you land around 11:30/noon-ish. Eventually, you won’t have time for nap number 2... Oh and you may need to have an early bedtime while your little adjusts to the new schedule. . . This transition can take a few weeks, up to a month, to get consistent and solidified... 😬 . . As always, if you’re needing help surrounding the nap transition or anything else sleep related - message me. . . #naptransition #2to1naptransition #howtonaptransition #sleeptip #sleepsecrets

TGIF! Can't wait to catch up on lost sleep this weekend? Planning to hit the snooze incessantly, blinds drawn, as the morning hours draw on? Did you know that your body performs optimally - digestion, hormone regulation, attention, reaction time - when keeping a consistent sleep/wake schedule 7 days a week? It may be time to reframe your sleep expectations, striving for alignment rather than always playing catch up...⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Re-post: You may have noticed that I am revamping my instafeed, so for the next little while I will be including some reposts to integrate them into the new look and feel. Eventually, your child will outgrow napping. Usually between age 3 and 4. When this happens, I highly recommend having a daily rest time. This time of quiet play on their bed or in their room allows for a break from the hub bub of life and lets them recharge so they can happily (hopefully!) make it through the rest of the day. Bonus - it gives mom and dad a bit of time to rest as well! #preschoolerlife #preschoolmom #ohheymama #momlifeisthebestlife #mamaneedsanap #sleeptips #healthysleephabits #honestmotherhood

{4 Month Sleep Regression} As your little one get closer to 4 months, you may notice their are changes that occur on the sleep front where if they were sleeping longer stretches they are now up more and/or need more assistance falling asleep. This is a phase of major physical and mental development for our little ones and is a real progression development wise. What you will see from a development standpoint: ⭐starting to roll, use their hands to grasp toys or reach for mouth, push up to elbows when on tummy, hold head steady ⭐social interaction such as smiling, cooing, starting to babble ⭐sleep rhythms are now fully mature which means they can connect sleep cycles What you can do as your LO gets closer to 4 months: ⭐Practice putting your LO down drowsy but awake so that they can practice completing sleep independently. Try this a few times and if they can't do it yet, go ahead and step in and do what you can to get them to sleep. ⭐Have a nap and bedtime routine for sleep so that it cues your LO sleep is on the horizon ⭐If feeding was last item in your routine, move it up in the routine so that it is not the last thing we do in the routine ⭐Keep it cool and dark for optimal melatonin (sleep hormone) production The drive to sleep is more at night so I recommend start practicing this with your LO at night and then slowly integrating it throughout the day. This gradual practice will help them move through this burst of physical and mental development.
I have been taking part in a #snoozervention and I’m on day 9 of 66 - feeling amazing and a lot less tired/groggy/fuzzy headed during the day 🥰
Do you have a baby between 4 weeks and 5 months old? Is he or she a short nap champ? Be encouraged! This is very normal and won’t last forever. Many newborns are nap champs....until everything seems to fall apart, often around 3-4 months. The brain undergoes a huge change in the way sleep works and babies often aren’t able to connect these new, more mature sleep cycles and lengthen their naps until about 5-6 months of age. There are a few things you can do to help baby connect his sleep cycles sooner than later. 1: make sure you aren’t keeping baby up too long between naps. (Link in bio if you need wake time guidlines!). 2: make sure baby’s room is sleep-friendly. 3: when baby wakes up, let baby hang out in bed for a few minutes and see if he’ll go back to sleep. 4: when putting baby down for nap, work on letting baby fall asleep independently. No big deal if it doesn’t work at this age, but practice can pay off later! #newborn #newbornsleep #infant #newbornlife #newmommy #newmom #firsttimemom #sleepregression #healthysleep #healthysleephabits #momlifebestlife #tiredmama #tiredmom

Sleep training has such a bad rap but take some time to think about it from another perspective. After a certain age and weight and all things being healthy, there comes a point wherein our babies should be sleeping through the night and are capable of learning to do so if we help them with sleep training. At this point, parents and especially moms should seriously consider their own health and figure out how to get their sleep back. If a family chooses to do sleep training, we should encourage them and not make the process more difficult. Get electronics OUT of the bedroom! The blue light that is emitted from our computers, TVs, tablets, and phones is detrimental to our melatonin production, the chemical released by our brain that helps us fall asleep and stay asleep. Power down electronics at least an hour before bedtime to allow melatonin levels to rise in the body. Dimming the lights in the house about 15 minutes before beginning bedtime routine can also assist with melatonin release. This is especially important for our little ones, who are so much more sensitive to light. #kalasleepatlast1 #slepatlast #sleepcoach #sleeptips #sleepconsulting #healthysleep #healthysleephabits #sleepdeprived #tiredmama #babysleep #whattoexpect #sleepthroughthenight #sleepingbaby # newborn sleep #toddlersleep #momlife #sleepsense #sleeptraining #gentlesleeptraining #louisianamoms #southernmoms

“Enjoy the newborn cuddles”.. I see this advice everywhere...EVERYWHERE! Mums are being told to enjoy their newborn, don’t worry about anything, just lap it up, just do whatever during this time so... that’s what they do and they end up in a complete world of pain. And I know this because that’s why I get inundated with people reaching out to me because they are months down the track and they are sleep deprived out of their minds and they have no idea what they are doing. “Hold your baby, don’t ever leave them alone, sleep with them, catnapping is normal so don’t worry about it, just put your baby on the breast if they are crying” (which is what one Mum, who I worked with recently, was doing.. she’d been told by a medical professional, that whenever her baby cries, she should feed him.. the poor baby was exploding), it’s this sort of advice that is leading new mums (and dads) to have complete mental breakdowns, why they they are falling into post natal depression, why their relationships are tense, why they are having feelings of resentment towards their baby, why they are feeling like a failure. There is absolutely nothing bad about setting up / guiding sleep and routine, a natural pattern of daily activities, from the very start. In fact, I believe it is imperitive that we start educating parents how to do this. Healthy Babies follow a very natural pattern of feeding, sleeping and waking. When you support this natural pattern, babies thrive. When parents know about these natural patterns and how to follow them, they thrive too. A baby who is sleeping for 20 minutes, then waking, feeding, sleeping again for 20 minutes around the clock.. that is not a healthy pattern to be in (for Mum or baby).. A baby who has a full feed, sleeps for 20 minutes then is supported back to sleep so they finish a long, restful nap, waking hungry, feeding, then going back to sleep and so on... that is a healthy pattern to be in... for a newborn, a 3 month old, a five month old.. Parents everywhere are crying out for help.. for correct, consistent education.. for clear direction.. for sleep.. They don’t want to hear “enjoy the newborn cuddles”... Because they aren’t 😥😥😥
10 TIPS FOR RESTFUL SLEEP 1) Establish a routine at night where you literally shut the outside world out of your life. No social media, no emails, no notifications to follow up on. 2) Avoid coffee and energy drinks after noon if you're sensitive to caffeine. 3) Don't go to bed hungry, it'll keep you up 4) Set your bedroom temperature to 65-68 degrees F. This is optimal sleep temperature. 5) Use a face mask or blinders to block out light 6) Practice your well-being mantra every day. Don't have one? Create one! Basically it's a wish list of positive statements you repeat to condition your mind. 7) Practice deep breathing. 8) Take my Fight or Flight. It helps your mind and body manage stress. 9) If still no help, add CBD to the mix. Take both on an empty stomach at night, before dinner. 10) Make up your mind about wanting to improve sleep.... Sometimes we don't because we're not ready to establish healthy habits! When I was pregnant with our first baby, I read so many books about birth.  By so many I mean like four, but that seems like a lot of books to read on a subject that only affects a few days out of your life 🤷🏻‍♀️. I remember once baby girl was here, I wished I had spent some of that time reading about other important topics, like...how you get a baby to SLEEP 😱. ⠀ ⠀ Here are a few books I have found helpful over the years while preparing for a new baby’s arrival or during that first year:⠀ ⠀ -The Mama Natural Guide Week-By-Week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth ⠀ -Husband-Coached Childbirth (almost didn’t read this one because the title made me think of Tyler as a football coach in the hospital room 🙅🏻‍♀️, but it’s actually super helpful if you are interested in the Bradley method/natural childbirth).⠀ -Moms on Call, Basic Baby Care: 0-6 Months ⠀ -The Wonder Weeks ⠀ -Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child⠀ ⠀ What books have you found most helpful when it comes to pregnancy/birth/adoption/newborn life?! Comment below!
Self-help books are great resources to use for selecting a Homeopathic remedy for you, a family member or for your pet’s common acute symptoms (i.e. diarrhea, sinus infection, PMS, etc.). The best way to utilize self-help books is to look up the Homeopathic remedies used for specific acute symptoms or illness (e.g., sinus infection). In most cases you and your family will always use the same Homeopathic remedy for the same acute illness. To have easy access to a list of Homeopathic remedies for whenever you or a family member has acute symptoms I recommend compiling your own Personal Reference. It is best to list the Homeopathic remedies used for the specific acute’s symptoms in a 3 ring binder or on the computer, for example: under “S” for Sinus infection, list all the remedies along with the differences between the each of them. You will then be able to select the remedy that yields the best results. - A list of recommended self-help books: 📚Homeopathic Medicine, A Doctor’s Guide to Common Ailments, Trevor Smith, MD. This book lists the symptoms for the Homeopathic remedies for acute symptoms as one liners. Easy book to use. Highly recommend getting this book. 📚Everybody’s Guide to Homeopathic Medicine, Stephen Cummings, FNP and Dana Ullman, MPH. Homeopathic remedies for everyday symptoms in paragraph form. Also has some Homeopathic philosophy. 📚Discovering Homeopathy: Medicine for the 21st Century, Dana Ullman, MPH 📚The Family Guide to Homeopathy, Alain Horvilleur MD - Want to learn how to use homeopathy for you and your family? In her book, The 24 Hour Mind: The Role of Sleep and Dreaming in our Emotional Lives, Dr. Rosalind Cartwright suggests that dream content may reflect to emotionally charged experiences of our waking world and that sleep may actually change the way we process and feel about this content. ⁣ ⁣ This is a beautiful role of our unconscious selves, enabling us to grapple with content by night such that we can be happier by day. Who wouldn't want a little more of that?!⁣ ⁣ Check out my blog post at www.theresamonsterinmycloset.com/blog/sleep-and-dreaming-have-the-power-to-make-you-happier to learn more.⁣ ⁣ What did your dreams feel like last night?⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #healthysleephabits #babysleep #healthysleep #ineedcoffee #sleepmore #nosleep #sleepnow #sleepfully #sleepbetter #instagoodnight #mommydom #nightowl #nighttime #sleep #sleepyhead #insta_sleep #lightsout #nightynight #dreaming #dreamworld #perchancetodream #sleeptime #knockedout #bedtime#sleepmonster #theresamonsterinmycloset

Talking about the importance of sleep on the blog today. ⠀ ⠀ 😴⠀ ⠀ Like nutrition and movement, sufficient, high-quality sleep is essential to your health. It allows your body to repair and restore itself. It is associated with improved focus, increased emotional stability, and less stress. Sleep is also linked to healthy levels of hormones like insulin, human growth hormone and testosterone. ⠀ ⠀ Share with me - do you struggle to make sleep a priority?
Did you know?? During infancy, babies spend about 50% of their sleep in the deep sleep. Deep sleep is where the hard work of growing happens! This is the only stage of sleep where growth hormones are released. This is why kids grow so rapidly in their first year! What does this mean for you and your little one? Consolidated sleep is important! If a child's sleep is fragmented, they are unlikely reaching deep sleep, which can affect their growth and development. Need help getting your little one a full night of consolidated sleep? 💤 Message me today and let's chat about how to make this happen! 💤 #kalasleepatlast1 #slepatlast #sleepcoach #sleeptips #sleepconsulting #healthysleep #healthysleephabits #sleepdeprived #tiredmama #babysleep #whattoexpect #sleepthroughthenight #sleepingbaby # newborn sleep #toddlersleep #momlife #sleepsense #sleeptraining #gentlesleeptraining #louisianamoms #southernmoms
Each 24 hour period is a new day! Plus our babies are developing and growing way too fast. There are some great sleep days and some rough ones but with sleep training and consistency- you will definitely have more great days than hard ones. This also aptly describes the first few days of the sleep training process. . . . . . #certifiedsleepconsultant #sleepconsultantph #filipinosleepconsultant #healthysleephabits #himbingph #babysleepsolutions #newbornhealthysleephabits #fornewparents #toddlersleep #parentsneedsleeptoo
|Sleep Environment| It's been getting lighter earlier in the morning here in Texas which is the first sign that Daylight Saving Time is around the corner. No matter what age (Parents need a great sleep environment as well 💤) we want to keep it cool and dark for optimal melatonin production (the sleep hormone) and a sound machine or fan to help block out unwanted outside noise. For our littles, screenshot the above to help your littles have a good foundation for sleep 😴
It's amazing what rhythms can do for internal alignment. I love to read and expand my knowledge. It allows me to better support and serve my clients through the practice of homeopathy. For advance reading on the philosophy of Homeopathy: - 📚Organon Philosophy Workbooks, Robin Murphy ND. Great book on explaining Hahnemann’s philosophy of the Organon 6th edition; including how and why to give a Homeopathic remedy. 📚Organon of the Medical Art by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (6th edition), Wenda Brewster O’Reilly, PhD. The author has translated Hahnemann’s Organon 6th edition for easier reading. - - - - - - #viranginicindyhomeopathy #homeopathyworks #instahealthcare #homeopathicremedies #holisticremedies #homeopathyheals #healthconsultant #holistichealthandwellness #homeopathyrocks #ancientremedies #homeopathyforall #homeopath #naturalremedies #holisticliving #wellnessjourney #holistictherapy #wellnesstips #healthysleephabits #chronicillnesses #holistichealer #homemaderemedies #healthyremedies #healtheducation #coldandflu #thyroidhealing #seasonalallergies #homeopathic #homeremedy #holisticmedicine #wellnesscoaching

RESEARCH: DISRUPTED CIRCADIAN RHYTHMS & ANXIETY A recent neuroscience study has confirmed that aberrant sleep-wake cycles can drive brain pathology. This adds to the evidence linking anxiety with sleep deprivation, and emphasises the critical need of good sleep for mental & physical health. It is clear that deep slow-wave sleep is needed to calm overactive brain regions, a problem in sleep deprived people. If you feel that you have a sleep disorder, it is important to speak to your GP or Psychologist. Source: Society for Neuroscience, 5/11/2018 Photo: droopy red flowering gum on a hot day.
