Let me be real for a second. When I saw @shaunt was coming out with a new program I was super excited. I love his energy and the fact that he can give you a great workout in just a little about of time. When I heard it was gonna be 20 minutes.. and we were gonna be using an aerobic step I was skeptical. Really? How are you gonna squeeze a good workout into only 20 minutes and what kind of weird aerobics class vibes are we getting into?! But ya know what? Shaun T has never let me down so I decided to trust the process. And I’m so glad I did. Because every morning he has kicked my butt, left me drenched in sweat, and I’m just feeling good the rest of the day! And it’s only week 1! 20 minutes?! Now everyone’s got time for that!

Ok, so I actually paid to download a finisher's picture from my half marathon this past weekend. And look at that face. It says EVERYTHING and So. Much. More. I thought having a half marathon planned in the beginning of January would keep me on track with my training and focused on my goals. But indeed, it did not. This was by far the least prepared I have been for a race and it shows!!! 😂😂😂 So why am I writing this? Because it's real life. I don't want to always post the pics where I'm flexing just right with the lighting shining in just a way.... I cannot even tell you how many times I talked myself out of doing this race... Mostly because I thought I would be a failure for not finishing under a certain time; like a finishing time defines who I am as a runner, a trainer, a human. Let me tell you this: NO NUMBER DEFINES YOU!!!!! Not a finishing time, not a scale, not a BMI from your doctor. You are an amazing, unique, one of a kind human that has dreams, goals and aspirations. DO NOT let our society's notion of a number defining you let you second guess your worth, your self esteem and who you are. All to often we give up on our dreams and goals because we fear what others will think. So a new goal for me that is going to be HARD for 2019? Give it up. I cannot and will not please everyone and I will in no way let the fear of what others may think or perceive of me dictate my decisions. And I will LOVE this picture. The pain that it shows. The determination that it took to get to that damn finish line. The pride that is just barely seeping out from the my mouth because I DID IT. I didn't even take the time to find out my finishing time until a few days later because it didn't matter. My 2 most favorite people were there at the end telling me how proud they were of me, waving cow bells in the air. And I realized that I was proud of myself. That's what mattered most. What does your postpartum weight loss journey look like? Do you focus on nutrition, exercise, or just give it time? Mine is a little of all three but more nutrition and time. When I start my weight loss journey after each of my pregnancies I tend to go all in. Maybe because by the time I finally get motivated to lose the weight, it’s also the same time I want to get pregnant again. 😏🧒🏻🧒🏻👦🏻👶🏻 I was able to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight (130 lbs) both times. It’s one of my goals this time too. 3.5 years after I had my twins I did a strict Paleo diet for 30 days to lose the last 10 lbs. 1.5 year after I had Liam I did a gender sway diet, that involved: intermittent fasting, high carb/low protein/moderate fat with A LOT of cardio for 3 months and lost the last 15 lbs. Literally sooo excited about my Ikea Play Kitchen Hack 🎀 My little princess LOVES it and loves turning the knobs... But, I still think I'm more excited about it than she is! Here's what I did... 💜 Painted the edges and stove pink with Ecos Paint - Eggshell in Nivalis (#non -toxic, #ecofriendly , no voc!) 💜 Purchased wooden knobs and handles to replace the original plastic ones. For the knobs, I drilled the hole a bit larger than the screw size so that they would spin. I painted both with the same #EcosPaint listed above. 💜 For the backsplash and towel, I purchased fabric from a craft store and cut it to size. Then, used push pins to secure the fabric to the back of the kitchen. You could use contact paper, but I didn't want to use anything with PVC. 💜 Replaced the plastic sink with a stainless 8x8 cake pan. 💜 Filled the kitchen with play food and dishes from #PlanToys , #GreenToys , #UnderTheNile , and #Ikea . 😭 So many of my clients could write this same letter.... I talk with people EVERYDAY who resonate with Chelsea and where she was. “If I could write a letter to me: Chelsea, I know you are tired. Broken. Disappointed. Lost. Confused. Disgusted. You lack confidence and you wish some days you could just disappear. You walk the hallways at work with your head down to avoid making eye contact. I see you skipping lunch with everyone only to binge eat your emotions at home. That food isn't going to bring you comfort. You and I both know you'll hate yourself more for it later even if it feels good right now. I know you hurt. Your body aches and you don't sleep well at night. You try but it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and your anxiety is through the roof. Food doesn't judge you. Food doesn't talk behind your back. Food has been the only thing you can rely on. Beautiful girl don't you see that you deserve so much more? You have this one and only life to live. Don't sit here and let life pass you by. Don't break another promise to yourself or think that you're not worth it. Don't for one second think that you're going to fail again. I promise better days are ahead. You will look at yourself in the mirror. You will smile again. You will fit into sizes of clothes you haven't worn since high school. You will be proud to be seen in public with your husband. You will have so much energy to get on the floor and chase your daughter around. One day you will love yourself.” ✨ She is ABSOLUTELY right!! You’ve got this one and only life!! So Monday night I did something I know is bad for me; I unintentionally skipped dinner due to working late. I thought,”Well whatever. It’s so late I’ll just have a yogurt and go to bed.” Not what happened. I ended up staying up way too late with my hubby watching SVU and ate waaaaay too much popcorn PLUS a pint of low cow ice cream 🤦🏼‍♀️ It wasn’t the end of the world, especially at this point in my journey. But eating almost all your days worth points/calories at 10 pm? Yea. No bueno. — I felt like garbage Tuesday morning because of it. Bloated. Sluggish. And more so, upset with myself for doing that. I KNOW better at this point. So the negative self talk crept in, big time. I could have wallowed in it, but I pulled myself up by the boot straps and chose to set an intentional plan for the day instead. There was nothing I could do about the night before. What’s done was done. But I was determined to hit reset on the next day. So I chose to fast until 2 pm (which I wasn’t even hungry until then anyways), went for a 50 minute walk (because moving felt good so I just kept going after half an hour), drank a TON of water, and cooked a healthy dinner for all of us to enjoy. There was no starving myself involved. No “might as well say screw it today too because of yesterday’s fail”. I knew to breathe through the nasty feelings and self talk and just do what I knew to do. To practice loving and treating my body with kindness and good choices even though I felt awful. — Tuesday night I had probiotic tea before bed, and that along with all my other solid choices for the day, led to a MUCH better morning on Wednesday. The bloat was gone. I didn’t feel sluggish. And more importantly, I felt proud of myself and happy that I didn’t let those feelings take me into a downward spiral. A slip up doesn’t have to be the end of anything. We’re human. It happens. But it’s always within our power how we respond to those slip ups, mentally and physically ✨

Happy Friday y'all! I noticed lots of new followers lately so just want to pop on & do some #fridayintroductions . 👋 I'm Joey, a kinda crunchy mama of 3 sweet kiddos ages 3 & under. Having 3 babies in 16 months was HARD. I felt so lonely and isolated and overwhelmed and like I needed to be everything to everyone and do it all perfectly. And it completely drained me. I feel like I'm just now starting to emerge from that "new mom fog" with the help of some health education & some amazing nutritional supplements. Wow! One year difference! I’m proud of how far I’ve come along on my fitness journey. No magic wraps, pills, detox shakes, or whatever fad diet you see making its way around social media. Just hard work in the gym, and eating more whole foods, along with a few setbacks because no one is perfect. I’m excited to continue working on my health and wellbeing this year among many other goals! . If you are strength training, and are finding yourself relying on the scale a little too much, take note-there is only a 11 lb difference between these two images. Remember muscle weighs more than fat so just toss the scale! Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself, your body is capable of doing impressive things!
