When it comes to managing a mental health condition, I do not believe it comes down to one main factor.
Sure, there may be one main thing that really makes a difference for you, such as exercise or starting your day with a green smoothie, but at the end of the day, the way you choose to go about managing your anxiety, your depression, your stress, ultimately comes down to a variety of factors that work in harmony together.
Our bodies are completely interconnected.
Our gut affects the way we feel and think, and our minds can cause our bodies to feel restless and fatigued.
When one part is out of balance, it tends to affect other parts as well, even if it doesn’t really seem to make sense to you.
When you want to live a healthier, happier, more harmonious and peaceful life, you need to approach your issues with a holistic mindset, focusing on mind, body and spirit as one.
Eat foods that nourish and fill your body with healthy nutrients to make it thrive.
Get moving every day, show your body how much you love it by getting your blood pumping through dance, yoga or any exercise that gets you excited and your endorphins flowing.
Work through the hard stuff slowly and methodically each and every day. Journal, sing, write, find a creative outlet to let it flow out in the most beautiful, mindful way.
When you treat your body as a whole and embrace every aspect, that’s when the healing journey begins.

Do you feel you have a purpose in life? Do you feel that you're making a difference? .
I am pondering what my purpose is lately. The past six months have felt like a completely blind journey for me. Applying for new jobs, getting rejected, taking jobs that bring me no joy just to make a paycheck. To say this cycle has left me feeling less than fulfilled is an understatement. Following my heart to live in a new place was a huge leap of faith that I've since questioned so many times because of how it's affected my professional life. If you've experienced this, you know it's not fun living each day with the thought that you might have screwed up. .
But we all have a purpose in life, even if it's not the one we hope for. Working has always been a source of joy for me, and I know I'll find my place in the career world again. But maybe right now just isn't my time. Moving brought my husband a great job opportunity that has continued to get better for him and, thankfully, has provided us a source of stability through my rough patch. I'm incredibly proud of him and thankful that we took this journey together. But there's always that voice in the back of my head asking "when is it my turn?"
Until my turn comes, I'm looking for joy and purpose in other areas of my life. Some days I have to squint to see it, but I know I have a purpose. I know I'm significant. I know I matter. And that's what really matters. 🙌

These past few days have been filled with so much fear and confusion and while I am recovering I wanted to share my gratitude for the outpouring of hundreds of messages. Your love and prays are felt and I’m praying for a full recovery (I had a laser eye surgery complication yesterday) and will share more about what happened in the coming weeks. I’m using this time (away from work and with my man who flew home in a blizzard to be with me tonight) to reflect, process, release and heal. 🖤

My belt is one tool I use during my heavy lifts to protect my back. Something about putting your belt on also readies your mind for the heavy weight and makes you feel stronger. .
In the same way Meditation/devotions are also a daily tool I use to help my mind and spirit strengthen for each day and the challenges I may face. It’s so important to take care of all aspects of your health and spirit. .

There is nothing glamorous going on here, but workout 2 of the day is complete. 💪🏽💃🏽 Some hard truth.. I couldn’t figure out why I have been having such a hard time managing my anxiety🙇🏽♀️or keeping my energy levels up. Life is hard, but it’s always a challenge. Nothing major had changed... EXCEPT yessss it had. .
I went from lifting daily, combined with cardio and a great diet to... only cardio and eating WAY MORE because cardio made me so freakin’ hungry. .
I thought because I was running at least 10-15 miles per week, I could eat garbage and be just fine 😂😂FALSE FALSE FALSE.
It was an endless cycle. Suffer through a long run, eat all the food🧀🍔🍕, feel like sleeping constantly due to the bad food, have no energy to run, skip runs etc etc etc
Wellll enough is enough. This week I have taken things back into my own hands, making healthy choices and getting back into lifting. My mood is already improving, I’m less lethargic and fingers crossed it will just keep getting better.😁 I never would have believed it if I hadn’t lived it myself, but all that junk food only feels good in the moment you are eating it. Healthy choices, wellness and self care feel good for MUCH longer😍Find what works for YOU and embrace it!🥳

You were doing great for a while, but then you weren’t. Your muscles were growing, but then they stopped. You were losing body fat, and now not so much 😓
I understand. I’ve fretted over complicated solutions before. I would have an issue like my back hurting, muscle cramps after training, or weird pains here and there, then I would seek a complicated solution 🙅🏼♂️
This usually ended up with me ignoring basic things and making my problem last a lot longer than it should have. I sure wish I had someone to tell me to just relax and FOCUS on the BASICS
If any of this sounds like you or sparked a memory, then you got to read this! I’m going to give you a checklist with questions that I so badly wish I had
If you’re having training frustrations, the FIRST thing you gotta do is take a big step back, ask yourself a some questions, and do some personal detective work within your own routine and body 🕵🏻♂️
Success in training is all about RELENTLESS application of the BASICS. Before you look for a more complex solution to your problems, honestly ask yourself these questions and REFLECT🧘♂️
-Do I have a clear vision of my goal? -Do I have realistic expectations?
-Am I utilizing the big, uncomfortable, result-producing exercises or ignoring them?
-Am I training consistently? -Am I getting better at my exercises by adding more weight regularly?
-Am I actually following a program through or am I guilty of jumping program to program?
-Am I keeping track of my progress with pics, journaling, measurements, tracking, etc?
-Am I tracking my nutrition and eating enough calories for my goals?
-Is my nutrition good? Am I lacking any nutrients, vitamins, or minerals?
-Am I getting enough rest? (maybe that pickup basketball game is killing my gains)
-Am I getting enough quality sleep?
-Am I managing my stress effectively and avoiding unnecessary stress?
I’m sure a lot of you have heard this stuff before. But this is stuff you should be asking yourself if your training is stalling 🤔
It doesn’t matter if your trying to build muscle, lose fat, be a pro climber, or a yoga master. You must be consistently nailing the basics down!
Many of us are preoccupied with feeling out of tune with our hunger cues (& there’s no denying that’s important), but far less of us are concerned with how in tune we are with our thoughts 🧠.
If you feel this describes you, I get it. I’ve been there & I also have off days where I still feel that way. So the million dollar ❓... how do you get more in tune with your thoughts so you can take control of them before they control you?
YOU ACTIVELY DECIDE that you WANT to & you incorporate daily habits to get there. Here are some of the ones that work for me:
(1) When you feel a negative thought creeping or you engage in negative self-talk, STOP 🛑 & flip it around. It can be as simple as turning “My smile is crooked” into “My smile is unique & that makes me beautiful” or “I have no willpower because I ate that brownie” into “That brownie was delish & eating it doesn’t take away from my worth or progress”.
(2) When tempted to repress your emotions, face them instead, even if it means living a difficult moment or bawling your eyes out. Repression ALWAYS has a way of coming out & when it does, it hits you 10x harder.
(3) REFLECT. Is there a pattern in what’s going on around you when you feel a loss of control over your thoughts? If so, what can you do to detoxify your environment & get rid of the triggers or adopt coping mechanisms to rise above them?
(4) When the going gets rough, breathe, even if you have things to do. Your mental health should be a priority because without it, you won’t be efficient in other areas of your life.
(5) Positive self-talk; it can be as simple as looking at yourself in the mirror & telling yourself how strong, beautiful, inspiring or kind you are. Write it down if you have to. 100x over.
(6) Remind yourself you’re not alone & it can ALWAYS be worse. Embrace what you’re going through & know that you’ll get through it & learn something valuable from it! ❤️

Too many times I see clients sacrificing their own goals and wants and desires to help their friends, family and co-workers.
I’ve witnessed lives completely fall to pieces all to “save” another, when the one that really needed saving was the person sitting in front of me.
It’s alright to focus on yourself. It’s alright to make sure that you are proud of yourself. And most importantly it’s alright to devote time to yourself.
It’s possible to show your family you love them and that you’re there for them and still make yourself a priority. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. #balance
