marinara. I served over @cecesveggieco
spiralized yellow squash. The rest of the family covered theirs in Parmesan cheese. 😋

When I’m tired after work and have 5 people to feed, I do keep quality products in my freezer and pantry. For me, it’s cheaper than taking the whole crew out to dinner!

I am solidly in the love column but the temptation is real people. Impulse buys can really hit the pocket book so here are my top Do’s and Don’ts for keeping your grocery bill in check. .
. . 💵Do know what you are spending monthly on food - this includes groceries and eating out. You need to know what your starting point is. .
. 💸Don’t look at your bill by the week but by the month. Some pantry staples last the month or longer so some weeks will be higher than others but it should average out over the month. For our family of four (we make 95% of all our meals at home) I aim for about $1000 monthly. For some of you that will seem high and others not so much but be realistic. .
💵Meal Plan based on the sales for the week. I always take a quick look online based on where I will be shopping and plan the week’s meals around their deals on organic meat or wild seafood. If sockeye salmon is on sale than it’s definitely on the #mealplan
. Create your shopping list based on this meal plan. . .
💸Don’t shop without a plan. You’ll end up with a cart full of random ingredients 🍈🥦🥓🍤🍩🍫🥜🥐🥒that looked good at the time and dinner prep will turn into an episode of @foodnetworkchopped

. I learned that my body type is endomorph. I can manipulate my metabolism depending on conditions like my ancestors. I can understand that because I have been trying to eat good for a while now and I know for a fact that if I eat more frequently digestion speeds up and if I eat sparingly it slows down. Just like a survivor from ancient times they had to go without food for entire winters and in that case your body will store enough fat for situations like that. Im not in a postion to purchase anything from Vshred but I will use the helpful advide to my advantage.

Spinach!! Not expensive, can be bought frozen and thrown into curries and great for chucking into scrambled eggs when the boys are having a quick meal. I buy some every week. It's full of nutrients, lots of different vitamins. A cheap way to eat healthy.
This is by far my favorite guacamole recipe that is always a hit. If you have had my guac before here it is so you can recreate this awesome healthy recipe! This is my favorite budget friendly food to bring to parties and is a perfect option for a healthy snack!
1/2 cup Greek 0 % yogurt
1/3 cup salsa of choice
1 tsp lime juice
1 cup black beans
Salt and pepper
Mash avocados and mix in yogurt, salsa, and lime juice. Add in garlic, cilantro, salt and pepper to taste. Some like cilantro some don’t some like a garlicy guac some don’t. Fold in green onion and beans. Voila!
I generally don't have a lot of time for food prep these days, between long world days (and two hours of commuting daily) two sports, my own training and trying to keep up with my housework.
Being on a low wage means I have to be savvy with my money and therefore cannot buy food daily to save me prepping
I have managed to find a balance between fast, affordable and healthy... This pic is my Sunday food prep and is enough for 5 lunches for work. It's a 6 veg and brown rice stir fry and took under 25mins to prepare.
My average grocery bill is $50AUD weekly, which covers all those veg (with a few days worth extra), 10 pieces of fruit, 2x dozen eggs, a load of rye bread and rice cakes, and a small packet of rice every 3 weeks.
I had choices when my job changed and time and money became less; I could make excuses as to why I can't reach my fitness goals and let my health deteriorate due to poor and convenient food choices (as well as waste money), or I could find a way to make my it work for me timewise, financially and for my health.

This week has been horrible. Hopefully tomorrow after seeing a specialist I can get some answers. I’ve been in constant pain all week and NOTHING is working. I have a small child at home and still have to work. I haven’t eaten much. I have consumed about 400 calories a day. My body is feeling not working out. I need to exercise! Tonight I’m roasting veggies, grilling salmon and making couscous. My body is craving real food and even if I can’t eat it all, I need to eat something. It’s amazing how food makes us feel. Eating a more plant-based diet does not mean you need to spend more money 🙅🏻 .
For this meal, I purchased:
🌱 Canned Chickpeas: $0.89
🌱 Bushel of Kale: $2.99 (lasts about a week)
🌱 Avocado: $1.50 (I only use about 1/4-1/2 at a time)
🌱 Red pepper: 2.99/lb (which is like three large peppers)
🌱 Minute wild rice: $1.99 (comes as a pack of two)
So, in total I spent a little over $10 to be able to make this curry chickpea bowl for lunch and dinner tonight while having enough leftover produce to last me a whole week. I’d say that’s a pretty resourceful way of eating meatless and on a budget! 💸

OOF YA’LL! A yummy chicken stir fry with a side of chunky guac and a blueberry banana smoothie to wash it down :) I couldn’t wait to take a pic - I already had some of the chicken and half the smoothie because I was so hungry after my workout 😂
Today’s workout was a 1.80 mile run which took me 19 minutes because I’m not a fast distance runner 🤷🏻♀️ but I’m working on it. Then I just played some basketball for fun:) Today was my 5th day in a row working out, so I’m giving myself the day off tomorrow.
ALL ingredients were purchased at Target.
🍗 Cut 2 chicken breasts into chunks. Drizzle olive oil on a medium skillet and drop the chicken on there on medium heat.
🍅 Cut up all of your veggies of choice. I chose grape tomatoes, baby carrots, broccoli, peppers and sweet onions.
I chose not to use any sauce or to make my own sauce. Instead I chose to season the chicken with pepper, garlic and turmeric. It’s my first time using turmeric after hearing about all of its health benefits for ages - it’s quite tasty on chicken!!! Give it a go!
